In the beginning, Willow was in love with Xander, who didn't know about that. Then she found a real boyfriend, her first boyfriend, Oz. and Xander found his, Cordelia. But it seems that she was still in love with Xander. Then they both started an affair, behind Oz and Cordelia's back.

Do you think Willow was still in love with Xander when she was dating Oz? The crush didn't stop when Oz came into the picture? And when did Xander start falling in love with Willow, so much that he betrayed the hottest girl in school?

I wouldn't call it "Love"
I don't think that she was immediately in love with Xander while she was dating Oz, but i think once Xander and Willow started having more "awkward/close" moments with each other, the love came back.

In a way i think Xander always had a thing for Willow,maybe not as much as what Willow did for him in the start, but i think with the close friendship that they had always had, there had always been a slight crush.

Well, I think she still loved him, but now more in a way that a sister loves her brother.
I also think that Xander has always loved Willow. But in Season 3 he suddenly realized that she was (finally??) attractive.

Cordelia isn't JUST attractive. She's strong and confident and together, and is just generally the awesomest Woman, in the Whedon-verse. WAY exceeding Willow.

I think Xander's feelings for Willow were pretty much "we've been friends for so long... and now this feels exciting!" And I think Willow's feelings for Xander didn't end when Oz came into the picture... I think that when they had their little affair thing, Willow's feelings were pretty much "I wanted this for so long... I can't not do it."
 
Honestly, I think they always loved each other. Xander however had trouble seeing past how they had always just been best friends. For some reason, to him at least, it seemed weird to have feelings for her so he disgregarded them for a while. Willow however always knew that she loved Xander (though I truly don't think they were ever in true love).

Overall, I think they were both just curious and attracted to each other. I don't think there was any real love there besides brotherly-sisterly love.
 
I prefer Willow and Xander as friends but still the way "the fluke" was handled was abominable. We have to more or less guess why they decided to date or why they decided to stop dating without even discussing the possibility of dating for real once the secret was known to everybody. IMO, they had better chemistry they any of Willow and Xander's other relationships and the staying together would have allowed for characters who weren't love interests to maybe join the Scooby gang. Then again, we are talking about Joss "I hate happy couples" Whedon, there was going to be an ugly break-up eventually, so I am more upset by the writers not dealing with the relationship properly than I am because it didn't last long.

I see it as, on willow's part, yes she was still attracted to xander, but on xander's part I think he was acting out on his fear of commitment. Sabotaging his relationship with cordelia as it were.

I agree with [MENTION=2739]Darla[/MENTION], I think for Xander, it was more of a forbidden thing. Also, I think maybe he realized what was in front of him the whole time. Like when he was single, he never really noticed Willow because he was always looking out for a hot girl, then when he was with Cordy, he didn't have to look anymore which made him realize Willow was right there.

I don't think it was love, I think their affair was mostly from a crush with built up tension that they needed to get out of their system. But that's just me. I agree with what others have said too. 😛
 
I think they always loved each other, although their love for each other changed quite a bit over the course of the show. I think the Willow/Xander romance grew out of the fact that Xander suddenly woke up and realized that Willow was an attractive girl and here she had been right in front of him all along, as well as the danger of getting caught; they both loved the rush of doing something "wrong". Do I think they really felt something for each other romantically? Yes. I think if Cordelia and Oz had not been in the picture, we would have gotten a beautiful relationship between the two of them. I wish we had gotten a little longer run of the two of them together, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Anyway, I have no problem with your view on Willow or Cordelia.
 
I really loved the Xander/Willow history!( have we a name for this like Bangel? So "Xanlow" for example?)
But I think that Xander and Willow had both .. a lovely partner. But then they realized at the wrong moment that they have some older feelings for each other! They both knew they are not correct now because they have girl and boyfriend,but maybe the two would get together if there wouldn't have been a Oz and no Cordelia. But then the Question arrives wether the two would ever get the feelings for each other? I really don't know. I guess yes but if at all in later seasons.

Yeah I think he finally saw her (as a girl😀), and the opportunity was there more or less. I think Willow still crushed on Xander if a bit and jumped at the opportunity as well. I didn't like the way it was handled. They should have just explored a romantic relationship between them early on, and then established they were better as friends. Not have Willow moping over him. What's more, it made both characters look really bad. IMHO.
