Angel is stupid! what Angel should of done when Darla was sired to me was the obvious....bring Willow's but to LA and drag Darla's soul back to Darla!

What you guy's think? cause I think theres so many occasions when they could of gotten Willow's help but didn't think about it except in season four cause Fred.

I think they didn't wanna overuse Willows powers though. Personally, i think they made Willow far too powerful with magics, which is partly why s6 isn't the best(imo).
But the power she had, it woulda been cop out to make Willow save Darla. It woulda been too easy, like, oh theres a problem, lets get Willow in to magic it away. I can't see it working.

In the past I have seen the question asked on here "Why didn't Willow just ensoul all vampires?".

I guess it would make for a pretty boring show... Although it could have been a fun episode for Willow to actually do that but it causes chaos (almost a little Jasmine, shiny happy people-ish). Could have shown the vampires trying to become parts of society. Like at the end of Shaun of the Dead with all the zombies having job!

^^^ Totally agree with caitaintdead. Seriously... It would have made things way too simple if Willow just went around giving vampires souls left and right. And where would the fun be in that? We'd have a bunch of broody Angel-wannabes around, and probably a bunch of crazies-in-the-basement like Spike. LOL

I don't think Angel would have wanted Darla to suffer through this anyway... He knows how hard it is and he still felt for Darla at this point. Besides the obvious plot reasons.

Actually...did Angel even know it was Willow who gave him his soul back? We know Wesley knew, but he could've just read it in the Watcher's Diaries, as far as I can remember there's no proof of Angel knowing.

...plus what Five just said. Angel knows what it's like to be doomed to feel all the remorse for one's action for eternity. He cared for Darla, I'm not sure he would've wanted that for her.

Can Willow really restore any vampires soul?

I kinda thought that the gypsies had put together a spell that was specific for Angelus.
Willow then used the translation of that original spell that Ms. Calendar made to curse Angelus with a soul again in Becoming.

Didn't think it was a generic curse that worked for any soulless creature...

The spell couldn't have worked for all vampires. If it did, then whether it would be entertaining or not entertaining, Buffy staking vamps from that point on wouldn't really make sense unless she was put in a situation where she absolutely had to. If the Scoobies had the power to restore all vampires, don't you think they'd have some kind of obligation to try? It doesn't seem like it would be morally sound to just say, "well, it's simpler to stake them so screw helping them."

Didn'dt Darla already have a soul at one point? Doesn't matter if she was a vampire or a human, she didn't like it. As human she wanted to become a vampire again, because she couldn't stand having a soul. If Willow had restored Darla's soul she was most likely to dust herself.

Can't forget that little happiness clause, guys. If they got too happy, they'd just lose it again with the Angelus curse.
Then it would be kind of ridiculous to keep re-ensouling them.

Darla made peace with her soul eventually. At first, she desperately wanted to be vamped again, but a lot of that had to do with the fact that she was dying and didn't have much time left. By the time Drusilla came and turned her, she didn't want to be a vampire again. So I don't think Darla would necessarily have dusted herself with a soul.

But the thing for me is, that Darla without a soul is interesting, and kinda unpredictable. if you give her a soul, it takes away her edge, so I'm glad she didn't have her soul put in.

You could make the same argument for why did Spike go all the way to Africa and fight slobbering beasts and fire-sword wielding guys just to get HIS soul back. Getting your soul back isn't supposed to be 'easy' by any stretch of the imagination. I would also guess the only reason Willow was able to re-ensoul Angel was because of the curse anyway?


Not to mention S5 Willow wasn't as strong as she was going to get. She was a little busy exploring her sexuality and such, not so much able to deal with stuff in LA. She would not have been able to re-ensoul ALL vampires (even if that is possible) until after Season 7 I would guess. Re-ensouling all Vampires is probably harder then activating all Slayers so... something to think about there.

Also there is the argument of her NOT being the deus ex machina of the Buffy universe. 'Willow can fix it' would effectively end all the problems in all the world and I think the creators figured that out thus side lining her for much of the last season.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks Darla should have stayed dead the first time she was staked...
I mean, come on. She was so annoying in BTVS.
And no, Willow shouldn't have stayed if Buffy needed her. I guess they both figured Angel could fight the apocalypse by hmself.

I don't think that Willow either had the power, knew the exact spell, or both, to actually create or recall a soul initially from wherever souls go when the person dies, she could only re-install a soul that had already been called back to this plane of existence.

I thought Darla was super-annoying in BtVS but she grew on me in Angel. I'm glad they didn't ensoul her and keep her around. I loved that even without a soul, she sacrificed herself to save her baby, that she couldn't face losing how much she loved him. It reminds me of Spike's being changed by love even before getting his soul back. I don't know why, there's just something really cool about that.
