Willow lover intros

Alright, I may be a little iffy on some of this information, so feel free to correct me, might I be wrong.

Oz was introduced in season two. In his first episodes his only lines were in reference to Willow, as in: "Who's that girl?" Also, it wasn't until several episodes later that he and Will developed a relationship.

Tara was introduced in season four, shortly after Oz's departure. She and Willow didn't make much verbal contact in their first encounter due to unusal circumstances, but did have good chemistry and grounds for a future partnership.

Both characters introductions were shortly followed by and needed for Willow. Meaning, that their first priority was her.

And then Kennedy.

Unlike the other two, Kennedy was introduced first, and then a relationship formed between her and Willow. We saw Kennedy as a character before a lover.

So my question, does it make a difference? Did you like the fact Kennedy had grounds before she and Willow dated, or Tara's and Will's initial attraction?

The thing is Tara gained character after the relationship as well, so maybe it was later but personally I prefer the character of Tara. So we may not have seen this character plodding around then fall in love with Willow but her character was much better then Kennedy's. Also I like Oz but we kind of knew his character first, but I'd imagine it'd take years to fully know Oz.

I always loved Tara, and the way she developed in her relationship with Willow. It might have been interesting to see what she was like before getting into a relationship with Willow, but I loved her anyway.
Oz was great aswell, kind of a mystery, it would have been fun to see more of what he was like without Willow, but I loved them together.
Kennedy I have never really liked. At first she was ok, but then she just annoyed me.
Tara was a much better character in my opinion, but they are really different though, so I don't really wonna compare them...

I agree.. I love Tara, I think we really got to know her, and she changed a lot from Hush to Seeing Red.
And I don't think Oz was only "Willow's boyfriend", he became a real part of the gang and had his own things..
What I'm trying to say is although Kennedy came into the show before she became Willow's girlfriend, I think she was the one that was least important and that both Tara and Oz were more developed characters..

YES! That is what I was trying to say too! THANK YOU!!!!!! Even though we first saw Tara and Oz as Will's mates, they become more complex characters. And Kennedy, who started out as a potential was less developed. Isn't that ironic?

Hey, thanks for agreeing! (I am just amazed that you actually understood what I was trying to say..!)
None of the potentials were that developed characters, and although Kennedy was supposed to be potential that you got closest to, I think they never really showed us something to love about Kennedy. Well, she did care a lot about Willow, but they didn't explain what she cared about or liked about her.. (And we never really saw the vulnerable side of Kennedy..)
(I liked Tara right away.. Partly because I knew that she would become Willow's girlfriend, but mostly because she was an interesting character from the beginning.)

Ahem, seriously. A lot of people said that the only reason Kennedy was introduced was for steamy lesbian love scenes. (I don't think that's true)
But, I don't know why Kennedy was connected to Willow with so little grounds (again with the irony). You're right that we never saw what specifically Kennedy was attracted to in Willow. I mean, in "The Killer in Me" Kennedy calls Willow's Wiccan beliefs "fairy tale crap". Do you get what I'm saying?

Maybe they weren't supposed to have a deep real relationship (like the one Willow and Tara had), I don't think Willow would have been ready for that (I'm not sure she was ready for this either, but I can't change what happened in the show).. I don't see what Willow and Kennedy's relationship was about, I don't think they would have been together for long if the show went on for another season..

Completely. I really think that the writers of Willow in season seven did not give her enough time to grieve. Maybe Kennedy was used for that very purpose, but it just seemed so forced. I expect you're correct in that Will was not supposed to have a serious, thoughtworthy relationship, if one at all.

But it would have been sad if Willow was really depressed about Tara for the whole 7th season. But maybe the last season should have been about Buffy, Willow and Xander (and maybe Giles) becoming close friends again.. (I think that is the most depressing thing, that they sort of lose themselves and eachother in the end.)

That would have been an excellent theme. What do you mean that they lost themselves in the end?

I like how they developed Tara and Oz into the show but I don't really like how they worked Kennedy into it. I perfer Tara over both but still.

I meant that the most important characters had so little time in the second half of the last season.. I think their personalities disappeared a little..
