Willow/Oz vs. Willow/Tara

Well, it's all very weird to me because when she was with Oz, I just couldn't imagine her with anyone else, and when she is with Tara, I kind of forget Oz!

Which shows how good Tillow is. I like Oz and liked him with Willow but compared to Tillow it gets kind of blend. Which feels like some kind of betrayal since I really love Oz but it's just how it is for me.

When Woz broke it off, I was sad for Oz but I just kept thinking, "ok Willow, you can find someone taller than you now!"

Lol! That's the funniest I've read all night! 😀 I wasn't that sad when Woz broke it off either. Maybe a little, but not at all as sad as I was when Willow and Tara ended it.

I actually preferred Willow and Tara, which is odd since I'm a huge Oz fan. I thought the Willow becoming a lesbian story would be a disaster, instead it was handled really well. It didn't feel forced, it just felt like two people slowly falling in love. Tara was really endearing as well, the shy awkward girl who finally found someone to connect with. I instantly liked her. During season 6 she actually became one of my favorite characters and Willow became one I liked a lot less, but Tara helped to bring back the real Willow. It's a shame we couldn't see the story continue. Oz will always have a special place in Will's heart but I do think Tara was the true love of her life......Kennedy, uh, I didn't like so much.

In all I think most people prefer Tara over Oz. Not that there was anything wrong with Oz. I mean Oz had his own demons to deal with and I think the scoobies already had enough on their plate to begin with. I know that the only real problem they had with Tara, which really wasn't a problem per say, was in the episode Family, where she thought she was a demon. Other than that nothing I can think of. Tara was their shoulder to cry on, the confidant. I mean come on. buffy confided her secret affair with Tara rather than her best friends Xander and Willow! I sometimes think that of all the scoobies, Tara was the strongest. That, IMO is what attracted people more to the Tillow relationship than the Woz relationship. Also, who doesn't like two hot chicks kissing?!

Anyone who says they don't like two hot chicks kissing is lying. It's HOT ;)

LOL! I did cry when Oz left, but maybe it was more because it was Oz leaving rather than the breakup of Willow. But how can you not cry when Willow is crying "Oz, don't you love me anymore?" :cry3:

I didn't hate Kennedy or anything, just didn't really "get it". And it's disappointing to me that they're still dating in season 8. None of the other (better) 'ships made it to season 8, but Kennedy & Willow did. Huh?

It's Joss' way of screwing over the fans ;)

That has and always will bother me until Kennedy dies! lol or Willow comes to her senses and dumps her. It's ridiculous that the one solid relationship in the Buffyverse (Tillow) gets destroyed and then we get Tennedy. WTF? And I really hated Joss for making Willow pretty much forget about Tara after like 5 minutes! seriously...they gave Willow so much time to cry over Oz, but when it came to Tara I think they were more concerened that they needed to have somone locking lips with her. Ridiculous i say!

I think everyone seems to forget that an entire summer goes by between s6 and s7 not to mention Kennedy comes in the middle of s7. Also, Willow loses herself after Tara dies and nearly ends the world, it's not like she didn't grieve over Tara. I loved Tara and Tillow more than anything in the 'verse but it was time to move on and it's not like Willow didn't feel guilty for it, remember 'Killer in Me'.

For the record, I am Willara/Tillow through and through and I 'ship them above all else so I definitely pick Tara over Oz. However, I think Kennedy/Willow gets unfair criticism sometimes.

When I first commented on this thread, I prefered Willow/Oz, but since I've been watching season 5 alot I prefer Willow/Tara. I love Willow and Oz, because they were cute together and first loves, but I felt Willow and Tara had a better relationship with alot of magic.

I'm kinda let down by Oz ... coming back out of the blue after several months of no contact at all, and expecting to be able to pick up with the girl he left behind just like that seems rather selfish to me. I'm very glad Willow picked Tara there.

My feeling exactly! I love Tara and Willow together, and to introduce Tara to us, then take her away just didn't seem right. I was glad when they switched channels and could actually show Willow and Tara kissing. It made the relationship seem to progress more. Like they weren't afraid to show their love for each other. They were proud of it. Maybe that's just me.

I don't really have much against Oz, just the whole Veruca thing. He freaked on Will when she kissed Xander, but expected her to wait for him when he slept with Veruca.

I think Woz is cute, but I definitely love Tillow 100% more. 🙂

I didn't really feel that Oz was a good match for Willow. Personality wise, I mean. Oz was pretty quiet, talked without any attachments, and wasn't that easy a person to be friends with, or even understand. Like how Willow in Earshot was freaking out about how soon Buffy would know Oz better than she did. Also, there were a lot of contradictions in their story, which made the love there less believable: When they first got together in S2, Willow had a crush on Xander. A couple of months later, she cheated on Oz without a second thought, and got caught. They broke up, a couple months later got back together again. Stayed together longer this time, until Oz ended up cheating on her and leaving her. Was pretty said for a week or three, but then she met a new girl and was instantly attracted. Ergo, Tara.

I really liked the Tillow relationship because I think that their love was really the "essence" of love: Making the other person feel special, respecting each other, sweetness, fun, best friends, and all that good stuff. 🙂 You could tell that they really loved each other, and not anybody else.

True, we have the S6 shenanigans, but what I like about that is that Tara acted responsibly and respectfully, Wil realized the error of their ways, once Tara saw that Wil was OK they got back together, as in love as ever. 🙂

See, I view Woz/Tillow in the same way that I view Cander/Xanya. I enjoy them all, but I think that Anya is better suited for Xander, just like Tara, with all her warmth and intelligence and sweetness, is best for Willow. 🙂

Also, I'm one of those who DOESN'T hate Killow. When I first saw it, I actually liked now. Now, I do believe it's a rebound, but I still enjoy it because 1. You can tell that Kennedy really does love Willow, and 2. It's obvious that Willow also cares very deeply about Kennedy. 🙂

You are so amazingly mature for your age and I know I have said this many times, but still. Reading this brought me to say it again. I could not have explained this better myself!! Go, Ori! 🙂 Tillow4ever!!

In my belief, Tillow is one of the cutest relationships in the whole show. They are just so sweet together and perfect for one another. We all know that they are meant to be together but the stupid bullet kept them apart. It's so sad and messed up.

That isn't to say that I don't still ship Woz because I think they're adorable. The conversation about the animal crackers was one of my favourite Woz moments in the history of the universe. They are so sweet and I love Oz I just..like Tillow better as a couple but only by a fraction.

This is actually a really hard comparison.

Personally i'm a Tara fan...

Willow seemed to grow much more as a character with Tara than she did with Oz... admittedly this might have just been the storylines they had together... but personally i found Tara to be much more of a likeable character as well

Willow My Love
Yeah, Tara talked.
Oz and Tara are so incredibly different, and the relationships Willow has with them are so different it's really hard to judge. I loved Willow with Oz, but I feel like she more came into her own with Tara. She changed so much from dating Oz to dating Tara. Plus, Tara never cheated on Willow. She truly loved her. Their relationship was just such a deep love. It was really beautiful, and amazingly portrayed. Willow and Oz felt more like puppy love to me. Tara and Willow felt like the real deal.

Uhm. I'm picking Tara, if I didn't make that clear enough with my double posting that I just now realized.

Willow/Oz til the end of time! There was a sweet innocence there that could never be replicated. And while Tara and Willow was a great relationship, and was good for Willow, I always had it in my mind that Willow would come back to Oz after her grieving process. New Moon Rising was a GREAT example of this.

Oz: It was stupid to think that you'd just be... waiting.
Willow: I was waiting. I feel like some part of me will always be waiting for you. Like if I'm old and blue-haired and I turn the corner in Istanbul, and there you are. I won't be surprised... Because you're with me, you know?

That whole scene is just sweet and heartbreaking. I completely understand where Willow is coming from with the choice she made, and it was definitely the right one for her at the time, but she's right: Oz will always be with her and in her heart, and the same goes for Oz. They were each other's first, best, and truest loves, and no amount of time or distance will ever take that away from them.

Just watched New Moon Rising actually. So heartbreaking! :(
I actually love both ships equally. I couldn't decide one more than another. When Oz/Willow ended and then later introduced Tara/Willow, it didn't make me dislike Tara or anything. It was making me happy that after the grieving Willow had gone through that she found someone else.😀

I honestly mean no offense, but it seems to me that you seem to weigh a lot on "the first, best, and truest love" and to me I just can't look at every love like that because they're all different. My apologies if that's not what you mean, but it seems to be a pattern that I keep seeing with things you've said in various threads. And of course, that's your right to opinion. 🙂

But, it...I don't know, there's something about it that just doesn't sit quite right with me. It's almost as if no other love that comes after a "first, best, and truest love" could ever be quite as good or quite as big or quite as meaningful.

And with that being said, here are just a few of my thoughts.

I love both Willow/Oz and Willow/Tara for very different reasons, like B/A and S/B, I believe that each relationship had their time and place and was just as meaningful in different shades of degree.

It's true that Oz was Willow's first taste of love, her first everything: kiss, sexual experience, love, etc. And that's a very powerful thing, they were adorable, they complimented one another very well, and they were just fun to ship in general. It's easy to see why so many rooted for them, because I myself rooted for them as well and I loved them up until Oz left and if I'm honest, a tiny part of me still loves them and when Willow is old and blue-haired, I want her to turn the corner in Istanbul and see him there.

But, there is a Tara factor, and I cannot deny that while I love Willow/Oz a great deal, I also very much love her and Tara as well. I always looked at it this way, Xander was her crush (he represented everything she wanted but couldn't really have), Oz was her first "real love", and Tara was her soulmate - that first "real mature" love that had the potential of being lifelong-lasting.

I don't know if I can pin-point the moment that I absolutely fell in with Willow/Tara, unless it's knowing that Tara was already well on her way to being in love with Willow when Oz showed back up in New Moon Rising after being gone all those months and she was willing to just let Willow go and along with any possibility of them being anything more than friends if that's what would make her happy.

It was very clear to me that Willow and Tara could never just be friends, that there would always be so much more between the two of them, and I was proud of Willow for deciding who she really wanted to be with even if it meant that Oz had to leave again. I felt like, at that point in her life, Tara was the better person for her to be with. Not that Oz wasn't a good person or good for Willow, but things had changed a lot since he had left.

Who knows what would have happened if he had chosen to stay and they had still chosen to introduce Tara, we might have very well had a different show and set of circumstances to look at. It might have been interesting to see that, in any case I'm glad that they did things the way they did because the story of Willow and Tara, at the end of the day, is one that will stay with me for a long time to come.

I just really love these two. And I loved Willow/Oz too, but like everything else does, they too had their time and place. 🙂

While Tillow is very sweet and all I'm definitely voting ship Woz. I so prefered Willow pre-Tara. I know some people argue she came into her own a bit more with Tara and I can see where they're coming from with that but I also think she became alot more bitchy and controlling. Tara's meek nature kind of brought out a bossy side to Willow I wasn't that fond of.

To me she just seemed so much more content with Oz. They were equals more so then Willow and Tara. I'm not a fan of how Willow treated Tara alot of the time to be honest. Being so dishonest about the magics and all that jazz. I just don't see any of that happening had she still been with Oz.

Good work SlayerFae, love love that quote! They are completely with each other. They've definitely imprinted on each other in a way that kinda transcends circumstance. He's her lobster!

I always took that last scene to be her saying she's always going to love him that way and that one day they will get back together again. He could be her "exception" so to speak.

I love Tillow and Woz, but I will go with Woz. I watched all the moments between those two last night and my little heart just warmed up to them and I got upset when Oz was leaving again. I always thought (for myself) it meant more when Willow was able to stop herself from performing such a dark spell just by looking at Oz's photo as opposed to her being unable to stop herself with Tara's death (yes, I know there are different circumstances).

soulunsung disagrees: Let's please try and remember that those are two different circumstances and Willow was in two very different places both times.

That's why I ended the paragraph with "yes I know there are different circumstances". I see that, I know that.

WHAAA?

What I meant is him coming back after months of no contact before even knowing Tara exists, assuming that Will just sat still waiting for him, not even thinking of the possibility there might be someone else in the meantime (and then wolfing out with jealousy at Tara). That's pretty self-absorbed in my book, I expected better from Oz - who, I say it again, is one cool character, he's just not the one I want to be with my Will. 😛

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on there, what show were you watching? I realize the post I'm quoting here is really old and the poster probably won't see it but just for other people's benefit:

Oz wasn't selfish in the least during "New Moon Rising." He didn't expect Willow to have been waiting for him and have not met anyone else, and there's no harm in trying to get her back it, it doesn't hurt to try and it's not selfish to do so; in fact, he clearly mentioned asking Xander whether Willow had a new man in her life. I'm sure if Xander had said yes, Willow was with someone, then Oz probably would have not even tried to get her back because that's how much he cared about her happiness first. Not even thinking of the possibility? What, were you high during that part? As for the reason he wolfed out when talking to Tara, I'd say the sudden, uncontrollable transformation was due to pain and sorrow, not just jealousy. He was shocked and hurt because Willow hadn't mentioned about Tara at all the whole night that they talked. So there!

P.S. Although Willow didn't actually lie since she said there was no new "man," I don't think it excuses not telling Oz, and letting him just think she was unattached. I don't blame her for hesitating to say anything though, she didn't want to hurt him; but in not wanting to hurt him, she just hurt him more when he found out from Tara.

I pretty much agree. I think typically people would be upset if during a night of catching up with someone you wanted back in your life in a romantic way didn't tell you during the entire conversation that they were with someone else, you'd flip out too. Probably not turn into a wolf, but your anger would rise.

Oz was focused on getting better, and while yes it sucks that he didn't keep in contact (which I blame the writers for), to say coming back was selfish is kind of incorrect. He came back to see if there was a possibility. If Willow wasn't with anyone, I think Oz would still take it slow and have them work out their issues before officially confirming relationship status. I mean, Oz basically waited til Willow appeared over Xander to kiss her, so it would make sense he'd do the same for something bigger than that.

Also, while Tillow were nice and all, I don't understand why people keep calling them soulmates when nothing points in that direction. Sure there was magic, but their relationship didn't really bring out the best in Willow and I wouldn't call a relationship that brought out the worst in someone "soulmate-y".
