When Willow is resouling Angel in Becoming Part 2 she grows more and more tired while she performs the spell then suddenly something comes over her and she begins chanting with new strength and power, what is causing this? Is it a hint of Willow's future power in witchcraft or is it the magic itself taking over her body? I never really understood it.

I always thought that the magic was taking her over. Pushing her aside, so that the curse could be in place again.

Maybe the spirit of the original gypsy who cast it in Romania? Perhaps she took over Willow to help her complete the spell. Remember, when Willow changed and started the spell, she was speaking it in the original language, and that was completely lost. Nobody knew the curse in it's original form. That's what always made me think something else was doing the spell.

That's what I thought, too.
I always thought that it was a little bit of both. I mean this special obviously takes some major mojo and Willow wouldn't have been able to do it if she wasn't mega Wicca, but I honestly think it's more of the fact that Willow has all this amazing power inside of her and this is it just finally being put to use.

Sounds to me like she just found a pool of extra power, a bit like a long distance runner going up against the pain barrier, then finding the strength to go on.

I always thought it was the original Kaldarash (sp?) Gypsy taking over to say the spell, coz, like SpikedBuffy said she spoke in the original language which we all knew was lost. But maybe it was that little invasion that awakened the magical side of Willow fully for later seasons?

Joss could've had Willow's future power in mind already, and this was just the beginning... What opened it all up for Willow. But I do think she was taken over

I think it was a little of both, too. It was like the magic kind of took control but, as we find out later, Willow had a lot of power in her just waiting for her to realize it. I don't think the magic (or whatever it was that took over during the spell) could have done that if Willow herself wasn't so powerful.

I think while she was doing the spell it awakened her inner-power and reached out to touch the mystical energy left behind from the original spell. I think that is why she had that sudden rush because she tapped into that energy that was infact left behind. If she wasnt as powerful I dont think she would have been able to do that... it just goes to show that her inner-strength was there all along.

That was what I was thinking but you explained it so much better
I think it was a possession of sorts, which opened willows mind (literally) to higher magics. so it's like the start of it all, the catalyst.
