Willow selfish? Nah!

I agree that the Scoobies weren't selfish. Not only did they think that Buffy could be in a hell dimension, but without the Slayer, Sunnydale and it's residents would have been screwed. I mean look what happened when the evil population thought the Slayer was gone.

Willow knew Buffy for five years at this point and she knew the kind of person Buffy was. Just because somebody breaks up a hell dimension, it doesn't mean he/she will go to hell. Shouldn't we consider the kind of person it was first?
Buffy died doing good and she was a relatively good person. You shouldn't get hell for that!

Besides, would they have attempted to bring Dawn back had she died? I pretty sure Buffy would not have been happy about that. She knows why the death had to happen (sacrifice one for the many).

There reason Willow thought Buffy was in a hell dimension was because it was a portal to a hell dimension. It wasn't because she died, it was because of how she died that made Willow believe she was in a hell dimension!
 
Most of all, I think Willow was just being human, not selfish. She very much wanted her dear friend back, knew that her other friends wanted Buffy back, and naturally thought that Buffy would want to be back with them too.

Giles' negative attitude toward what Willow did was interesting, but that's veering off-topic.
 
I actually don't think Willow was being selfish. I think she really did think Buffy was in a hell dimension.

I can see were your coming from. But the thing that has bugged me about Willow's line of thought is that Buffy's body wasn't sucked into any dimension. Willow knew about Angel. Buffy went through what happened with him in season 3. His whole body was taken to the other dimension. Now, I know there are other dimensions, but I would personally be thinking that Buffy's body hadn't been sent any where, so the chances are she wasn't anywhere other than where she deserved to be. If that makes sence 🙂
 
Her body wasnt but who knows where her soul went. If it could go to a heaven dimension, why couldnt it go to a hell one?

Yeah I get what your saying, I think Willow would have thought it was more likely Buffy had gone to a hell dimension because she died in the entrance(?) to a hell dimension. Like Buffy Actually died while in the glowly Blue Ball so it could have been possible that her soul was taken into Glorys hell dimension!
 
Or like Buffy didn't actually die in the normal sense. But that she went through the portal to the hell dimension, while her "dead" human body stayed on earth.

Yeah! Kinda what like might have happened to ben, Glory gets taken home, while ben dies. Extract the inside and the outside crumbles, lol

Ah yeah you said "might have", as in "didn't but could theoretically have"? 😛 I like the way you think, lol.
 
i thought willow was being some-what selfish, but i think in the end, she just wanted her best friend back. she probably used the hell dimension exscuse to convince the others (and herself) that it was the right thing to do, and absolve the guilt.

I agree with all those that say she wasnt selfish...She cared about her best friend and she was afriad it was a hell demention...She explains it to xander how her soul can still be trapped even though they burried her body....and another reason that she brought her back was because she could...any body would want a loved one to come back, she just could, so she did it. But if any body wants to call her selfish i wouldnt call her selfish for bringing buffy back...it would be for how she talked to giles and what she did to tara and then all the scoobies later on, although her actions had resonable resons behind them..she just handled them badly
 
I find the Scoobies' whole reasoning concerning Buffy's likely imprisonment in a hell dimension somewhat flawed. Her body remained on Earth. Had she been sent to Glory's hell dimension, then both her body and soul would have disappeared. We know from examples in both "BtVS" and "Angel" that this is how it works. Think back to Buffy Season 2, when Angel was sucked into the hell dimension. He was pulled staright in, body and soul. There were no remains left on Earth. Now think of what happened to Cordelia in Angel Season 2, when she gets sent to Pylea. She's sucked through the portal and there is nothing left of her down on Earth. Inter-dimensional portals in the Buffyverse suck in matter. That's a proven fact. And yet Willow and her cohorts never even stop to consider this obvious fact. It is poor judgment on their part and leads to Buffy suffering greatly throughout the season. So Willow was not so much selfish as stupid.
