Since I didn't start watching until after the series had ended, I didn't get to hear your opinions about certain developments while they were happening. In the first few episodes I watched, Willow was already a lesbian, and I thought it had always been that way. But then I found out about Oz, and that she didn't become gay until Season 4. So what was your reaction-and the general fan reaction- to this? I would think it would be pretty controversial. For me, since I was watching in hindsight, straight Willow doesn't seem any different from gay Willow.

I fought it was a great step to take, I found it perfectly fine!

It was good for me..It was not like a big shock for me..I still liked there and nothing could change that...Besides it was a really interesting plot...

Did you know anyone who was completely against it though?

There is no one on here I know off who did not like the change, I could be wrong though.

I like the way Joss handled everything with Willow. He didn't have everyone gasp or do a big huge ep centering around Willow and Tara's first onscreen kiss... When I first saw that, I was too young to be against it and I didn't get why anyone would be against it, but I know a lot of people were and Amber Benson was harassed online and such...

i like how he didnt stereotype gay people by turning willow manly or something cause of course not all homosexual people are like that

Yeah, I'm glad Willow didn't seem to change at all because of the gay thing. It didn't really seem to be that big a deal to anyone. Alyson and Amber have such wonderful chemistry together, I just forget that they aren't a "traditional" couple and just except them as people who love each other. They just fit together.

I've never seen homosexuality as something controversial, because I'm pretty open-minded, only later I found out that it was a big deal for American television.

I was glad Willow became gay because she and Tara were so cute together. I hated Oz, I'm not much of a werewolf fan so I was glad when they wrote him out. I think Joss made a great move in making Willow gay.

Giles, that's a weird reason. I love both W/O and W/T. I also loved that Joss showed loving relationships without having a big sign flashing 'look at that, she's gay now!' in big, neon letters...

What's weird about it? I liked Willow with Tara more than her being with Oz. Her coming out never bothered me. I didn't hate Willow for being gay like some fans did.

I know people who didn't like the change. I know people who have said to be "I can't believe you watch that show...one of the main characters is gay!" I don't understand these people. They are intolerant and closed-minded. But this world has lots of people like that. The important thing is to try and make them understand how to be tolerant and open-minded, and things such as Willow and Tara help people understand that love is beautiful, even if it's between two women or two men.

I know, but it sounds like you wanted her to be gay just so she can be away from Oz (I'm not trying to be mean or anything)...

Well yeah and no. See I did want her to be gay but only because she and Tara were great together. When Oz came back in New Moon Rising, I thought Tara was going to be gone and everyone would have Oz back. I didn't want Oz to stay in the show anymore, I got use to Willow and Tara. I guess it is weird, but it's how I feel about it.
