alluring dejection

So I was thinking, what if Willow had progressed quicker. That the amount of power she had acquired up until the sixth season would be present during season five. As in, what if Glory had killed Tara instead of making her insane? I mean, I know Glory would prefer to just brainsuck her, but still. Do you think Willow would have been able to defeat Glory sooner (thus, averting Buffy's death)?

Hmm...it's a good theory. But I don't think so. I think one of the main contributing factors to Willow's downward spiral was bringing Buffy back from the dead. It was a reckless, dangerous thing to do, and afterwards she started becoming pretty nonchalant about using magic for everything. She may have been able to kill Glory if she was mad enough, but I don't think she would have known how to or anything.

Actually, i would say that Buffy's revival was one of the factors.
The downward spiral was already evident to Tara in season 5, it was the cause of the fight.
I think it wasn't until Rack that she glimpsed the true extent of possibilities.....when she 'tried' that, then she knew what the power was....and lets not forget, the power she has at the end of season 6 isnt hers....its Rack and Giles(thus the coven) that make her that powerful...so no, if Glory killed Tara, i think the same outcome and same Willow would have happened.

Actually, i would say that Buffy's revival was one of the factors.
Definitely. And yeah, she wouldn't have been introduced to Rack.

It could have happened I guess, but personally I'm glad it didn't. Season 5 is quite perfect as it is in my opinion. Season 6 is the depressing one, and I "like" it that way..

She wouldnt have been powerful enough in season 5. by the time she got hooked and became dark willow she had another year of magical experience. in season 5, no matter how angry she was, she couldnt have killed glory.

Yes, I think that in Season Six, she really got a glimpse of what was out there, while in Season Five she was still working with Tara, who kept her grounded. After Buffy's ressurection, she was really cocky about it to Giles, and when he called her a 'rank, arrogant amateur', she REALLY didn't like it...so I guess she really wanted to prove herself in a sense, thus causing the spiral.

Oh don't get me wrong - I love season five how it is. I was just wondering about the what ifs. Also, I realize she wouldn't have been able to kill Glory, considering she was a God and all, but perhaps somehow saved them sooner or by averting Buffy's death.

No, she probably couldn't have averted Buffy's death, since she had neither the power nor the knowledge to do so at that point in time.

Am I the only one who disagrees!

I think Willow would have beaten Glory to a bloody pulp if tara had been kiled. Look how much she flipped when tara was brain sucked. If Tara had been killed I thjink she would have gone straight to the dark magics to mnake her dark willow, even thopugh she wouldnt have been as knowledgable or addoicted to magicks at that point in season 5, but I think although the resurection of Buffy and Giles comments and stuff were a huge factor in her addiction, I think Taras death was the main reason she went for the dark magicks.

I think she would have been able to kill glory or at the very least attack her till she reverted to the Ben persona, and we all know dark Willow has it in her to kill a human, especially to avenge the death of Tara.

When she DOES go for Glory, thats her at full capacity, even had she truly transformed to Dark Willow, she still didn't have access to the amount of power that season 6 Dark Willow had.
She didn't knowof Racks existence, Giles had not been inbued with the powerof the coven.
Willow when facing Glory was at her most powerful at the time and she really didn'tdo much.
Had Glory been at the end of season 6 with Rack and Giles into the picture, maybe she could have causeed some serious damage, but not a chance in hell could she have achieved that in season 5, even if Glory killed Tara and all her friends, Willow just didn't have access to the amount of power she had in season 6......

yea i think ur right even if Glory had killed Tara, Willow didnt have the power to kill Glory as she didnt know Rack and couldnt get anymore power than she had.even if glory had killed Tara and Willow did go for the dark arts she still wouldnt have the added power of Racks and Giles, meaning that she wouldnt be able to kill Glory.
After ressurecting Buffy Willow knew that she had the power to do almost anything and she didnt care that she had started to use magic to do everything.so from the point of ressurecting Buffy to when Tara got killed Willow had aquired a lot more magic, meaning that when Tara got killed she had more power plus the added power that she stole which turned her to dark Willow.
in season 7 Willow still has part of the magic from Racks and Giles in her, it is just below the surface and controlled, as you hear her say a few times, she has to control herself and not let her powers come to the surface and take over her.

I understand both of your points but I also thought alot of Willows power came from 'sucking' the magic out of dark magic texts. She was still extremely powerful then. And she didnt take Giles powers until the end of that episode when she'd already killed and had an incredible amount of power. when she ran out she went to rack, but before then she still had alot more power than I think she did when she was only semi-dark willow.

I think that extra power would've been enough, like I said above, to either kill Glory, or beat her down until she turned to Ben, and then kill Ben.

Thats what I think anyways...

The books didnt contain power, they contained Knowledge....Willow could suck dry every book in the Magic shop, but show wouldn't have been stronger, with access to more power, just access to better Spells. She'd still need to get the power from somewhere else to perform the bigger spells.

In my eyes I saw a dramatic improvement in Willows power since she sucked the knowledge out of the books. Afterall knowledge IS power. lol.

I agree that needed power when she sucked it out of rack, and when she fought glory as semi-dark willow she ran out of energy, but I think if tara died she would've taken more power or energy from within herself to use every lasyt ounce she had whenb fighting glory. And she could also suck the power out of glory couldnt she? not magic power but power in general. that may have been a way she could've killed glory. Or just master that spell she used when she transported glory into the woods. If she could make it so glory was transported into a volcano that may kill her...

I don't think she could have become Dark willow in season 5, she did not have the experience, I mean compare the spells she was casting in Tough Love with the spells in Two to Go and Grave. And think back to the circumstances of season 6, Willow was separated from Tara for most of the year, then she gets back together with her and then a day later she is taking away, I mean that is a highly emotional state to be in, probably more powerful then if she had lost Tara at a 'random' time during season 5. Not sure if that made sense, In season 5 she would have been in a continues relationship with Tara until that point where she lost her, where as in season 6 she lost her and then had to deal with knowing what she had lost, then got her dream come true and got back together with her, and then lost her again! And it was that which allowed her to give in to the darker side of magick.

Definitely. Season 6 is the depressing one, and I "like" it that way..

Thank you so much for saying that. While I completely understand and respect that others are entitled to their own opinions, I'm just so tired of the "Buffy should have ended at the end of season 5 crowd". I love the darkness and maturity of season six and the hybrid of early Buffy and sixth season Buffy the used for the seventh season.

And to give my opinion to alluring dejections question I think don't think Willow could have prevented Buffys death/kill Glory. But had Glory killed Tara I think Glory would have gone into hiding mode after the butt kicking Willow would have given her. Let's not forget, before Willow took Racks and Giles' (the covens) power, While yes she was badass she couldnt go on for long. She probably would have lasted a bit longer than then she did but not much.

yea i agree.Willow lost Tara then got her back then lost her again.in the episode seeing red they made everything seem perfect between them so that when Tara got killed it was more dramatic and you knew that Willow was gona go to the dark side.if they hadnt of been through that then Willow wouldnt have lost it as much.

willows and taras relationship had to blossom fisrt...willow go mighty pissed off with glory, but when it came to warren willow was in absolute love with tara, knowing how if felt to loose her already ( when they broke up....) 🙁 then to get her back and loose her forever.....cant imagine how that would have felt......so......go evil willow!!! kill warren scum!!!! willow and tara forever !!!

I don't see Glory losing to Dark Willow. Maybe to Goddes Willow, and that's only if Glory was in this demension and not her home dimension, if ANY Jossverse character were to fight Glory in her home demension they wouldn't stand a chance, that much is obvious. Now as to why I think Dark Willow wouldn't be able to beat Glory. Well, Glory is a god... A. She's invulnerable. Meaning that Willow wouldn't be able to use anything to stab her/ or peirce her skin. Second, Glory could just user her godly speed to beat Willow before she had the chance to cast a spell. If, that is, she isn't toying with her and giving her the chance to fight back like she did with Buffy. She would probably need to be at her most focused state as well. and finally, Willow runs out of power relatively quickly, and as soon as she does, Glory would end her withought a problem.
