We've seen that Willow is vastly more powerful than anything we've seen in Buffyverse history, however I'm wondering exactly how powerful is she really? We've seen that she was able to challenge a lesser powered Jasmine, she was the only one able to hurt Glory, and she almost destroyed the world, and she did all of that and she was nowhere near the level she is now. So could Willow take on the entire US military and win? Is she going to be the one that has to take on Twillight? Would she be able to take on Illyria? And also being that she is only human, how powerful can she potentially become? Has she reached her limit or is she far from it.

Why would she wanna hurt Illyria? She's ADORABLE!
No doubt Willow could create some sort of shield that would contain and control either Illyria or an entire army. She did that to the Knights of Byzantium in Season 5. As far as doing either of them any actual physical injury, however, that would probably mean crossing over the bounds of "white" magic into "black" magic, and I seriously doubt that Willow would risk doing that again, given the consequences of Season 6.

Both Amy and Kumiko pretty much whupped Willow. She had to be saved by Buffy both times.

Both were practitioners of black magic and attacked Willow unexpectedly. The outcome might have been different if she had seen them coming, but then, the bad guys never fight fairly.

personally i think willow is one of the strongest powers we know of in the buffyverse. as of now i think will is not at the power level that she was at when she was dark willow however she has alot more control and mastered the powers she does have very well.

I think willow can not take on such great odds, she is only human so i think her body can take only so much.

Illyria at full power could beat willow any day with out trouble, she was a demon god. however right now illyria is problem less then 1/4 the power she use to have so i think willow could beat her. who knows how powerful illyria is in her true form but nvm that.

as for the whole us army, i seriously doubt she has the magic nor the will power to survive that.

as for in season 6 and he blowing the world up..... it wasent he magic that was being used to destroy the world but rather the demon she summoned

Amy never really whupped Willow. Willow was countering every attack Amy threw at her, with the exception of the surprise portal trap. But in a one on one, Amy couldn't beat Willow, Amy mentioned plenty of times how powerful Willow was, even compared to her. Also Kumiko caught Willow by suprise, so I don't know how fair of a fight that was

yea your right i agree, however how long would that last?

i am not disagree at all i just think she had alot of borrowed magic than her own when she was evil willow( like the magic she took from the books).

Dark Willow didn't use any borrowed magics, actually. I'm pretty sure that borrowing magic means that a witch (or a clan of witches) lends you some of their power for a fixed amount of time. I'm 100% sure she wasn't borrowing the magic from the books; she was actually gaining power from them. Remember that all witches gain their power by reading through books, so she was just using a speedier method of absorbing the knowledge they contained. And I'm fairly certain that, when she absorbed magic from Giles and Rack, she was actually taking it from them; they weren't lending it to her.

Now, Willow's strength...although she is one of the strongest beings in the 'verse, I'm sure that there are entities that are more powerful than her (such as Saga Visuki.) And I definitely think that she has a lot more power than she's displayed in season 8 thus far, though she'll probably be refraining herself from using the most powerful dark magic, which will give her a bit of a handicap against evil witches.

As far as her fights against Amy and Kimiko, I do think that she was stronger than Amy; her teleporting trick was just a cheap shot. I don't think she was stronger than Kimiko, though...she seemed to have around the same amount, if not a little less power than her, and the fact that she was caught by surprise didn't help much. I have a feeling that may be why she summoned Saga Visuki at the end of Wolves at the Gate.

Yeah she did have a magick boost, from the power she stole from the books, and Rack, and Giles, but Giles said in Season 7 that all that magick is now apart of her, which is the reason why she wouldn't be able to quit magick and give it up, cause essentially now Willow is magick. All that Evil Willow power is apart of her and from what we've seen in Season Eight when she went dark it didn't really affect her as much, cause she has much greater control.

I know, lol but when i was stating that i was talking about season 6 dark willow only and not season 8 willow. if you look at my first post i separate the two different willows and compare them

Although she is undoubtedly much stronger than she was in Season 6, if only for the fact that she is more "in control" and thus has a significant tactical advantage, I doubt she could take on an entire army. There might very well be a world of difference between one-on-one magic battles such as the ones against Amy and Kumiko, wherein Willow could focus all her attention and magic on a single target, and a battle against a multitude of enemies. Such a multi-faceted fight would require a very different approach in the way of strategy and tactics, and quite possibly it would require the use of different spells. One of the most important differences is, that she would have to divide her attention over all the different enemies to be able to defend from attacks by every one of them. Not dodging a single bullet could be fatal.

As for Illyria, we don't really have an accurate measure of her power, neither true power nor current.

Willow is probably only a few steps ahead of Amy and Kumiko, but it seems to me that she is still miles away from Saga Vasuki, otherwise she wouldn't have required her teachings.

I dont doubt she could take on an army. The way they made her out, she was invincible. She can fly, teleport, magic barrier, shoot fireballs.
Even an army couldnt stop that. Silly really, but true.

Well, you make valid points, but she was able to destroy the world in season 6 (even though she didn't go through with it), so I assume she could take on an army if she was at full power and/or had some sort of aid (like the temple in Grave).

When destroying the world, you generally don't really have to mind the innocent by-standers and you probably also don't care if you die in the process, when you're trying to defeat an army, you have to factor these things in.

Allycat, armies usually clear out the innocent bystanders on their own. 😉 You don't get too many civilians running around hundreds of soldiers and tanks rolling over the plains - unless soldiers are the ones killing the bystanders, and that's just too mean to happen in the good ole U.S. of A. (well, at least for the past hundred years or so).

Now, few brigades, scattered through a city, armed with magic and ordinary guns, with no care for the citizens and Willow their only target, with no slayer army to run in and take care of some of them at least, that would be tricky for Willow to take care of alone. Hell, 10 witches and warlocks of power levels close to Willows would pose more threat than, I don't know, 50 war planes and a dozen or so rocket launchers.

Regarding Willow's power at the end of Season Six, I am pretty sure that she was artificially raising her power level. She had to drain Rack, and later Giles just to stay juiced. While it's not exactly borrowed power, there is no way she could have sustained it. In Season 8 she is constantly at an incredibly high power level (yes, maybe even....five). Perhaps not as strong as she was, but completely in control. She is stronger overall than she was.

I don't know, I'm just wondering exactly how powerful is Willow and at the same time do we know if Willow is as powerful as Sagi. I mean just because Willow was taught by her doesn't mean Willow is weaker than her. I mean I believe Willow was stronger than the coven, however the coven still had a lot to teach Willow. I mean Giles is no where near Willow's power but he was also teaching her new things during that time she was recovering from going evil. You could even take Buffy as an example, Buffy is much more powerful than Giles, but Giles still trained her and taught her for like 5 years of her slaying life.

Yeah, but power and knowledge don't have much to do with each other. It's like saying that just because a 6 year old knows how to jump high s/he doesn't have to learn from a 16 year old how not to hurt himself/herself when s/he does a somersault on a trampoline. 🙂

I guess that when the student aka willow or buffy or any hero has being taught what they know. Its how they use that power that makes powerfull. I think willow can just about do anything when she puts her mind to it , she likes challenges x
