Okay, remember how they all had a panic attack because the spell almost didn't work in time and almost got attacked before they were ready? Why couldn't Willow have just done the spell like the night before and made the Potentials Slayers so they were ready before they went down? Cause as far as I knre, all she had to do was tap into the scythe...thatwouldn't have worked at home? LOL. Am I missing something?

no i see what you mean! why didnt they do it before- that didnt make sense how they did that

I think that had more to do with the plotting of the episode - it certainly made it more dramatic to have all those ubervamps legging it towards the potentials and they still didn't have any slayer power....

Well, we know Willow had to do it above the hellmouth, and maybe Buffy couldnt wait for Willow to do it, besides, when they go in, Buffy says they just have to wait until Willow's spell kicks in, but the Ubervamps see them too early anyway.
And maybe the potentials had to be in the hellmouth for it to work?
Another unsolved mystery I guess 😉

Who knows....... Joss! Lets go ask him.

Nah t'is a bit weird, I can see Willow having to do it at the Hellmouth but why did the potentials go down and have to wait. I think TMS's theory is best.

Ripper's probably right too. It was probably just another one of S-7's sloppy writing tricks.

Still it is fun to try to make sense of this kind of stuff, so I'd like to add support to Male Slayer's theory.

We know The First wanted to keep Buffy alive through most of the season. We also know it wanted to harness the power of the Scythe.

What if the power of the Scythe has to be released through the Slayer as a kind of conduit.

Why in the Hellmouth? The Slayer was apparently created from Demon power. Remember one of the themes of S-7 was the end will go back to the beginning.

Also they needed to block the exits to the Hellmouth so Spike could cleanse it. It was Buffy's battle strategy to attack in one sudden Blitzkrieg-like charge.

Yep I'm going with The Male Slayers theroy too, they needed to have the Hellmouth there, and maybe they just wanted to go in so they know what there up against and prepare for battle.

Maybe it had something to do with the opening of the seal. I don't know...they harnassed the power of it or something! Good question though!!!!!!

And it succeed....I was afraid sth mighjt go wrong and BtVS will end with everyone killed for a min...

I think Joss did that to build up dramatic tension and what not. Maybe Willow had to get herself ready because she said she had to look things over and what not.

Parker,I think you are right,.maybe Willow wasn't ready,..maybe she didn't know how to do the spell and she needed more time

Then why did the others go in yet, why not wait for her to finish it?

Linking the spell to the seal, would make sense, the seal had to be open for the spell to work, so they had to go in, they didn't plan on fighting yet, but the Turok-Han spotted them and attacked.
