Well Joanna Korta's already out without playing any Tennis. One of her team has Covid. How sad for her. Some intriguing ties coming up when we finally get some play today. Funny that London has worse weather than Morecambe.

My first and only post on this thread...I loath Wimbledon and tennis with every fibre in my body (no idea why). Wake me up when/if the Olympics start. 😄 Plus I'm becoming increasingly annoyed that big sporting events are going ahead but small indie festivals such as Kendall Calling are having to cancel because the Government haven't released the findings of their "research".😒

@Mr Trick - My eldest has connections with them through work (think they sponsor some of the acts). The announcement KC put out made me want to cry...I'm so angry 😡

Well that is a fair point about Festivals. Heard about the Kendal Calling thing. Not great.
Djokovic once again as Ice Cool as a hitman. Draper just winning the first set is his Wimbledon moment. I'm looking forward to seeing Coco Gauf and the Madison Keys match.

Hard to believe its Keys 9th tournament. Gutsy performance from Swan, just didn't take her big chances. Strong performance from Keys. Maybe she can go a bit further this year. Muguruza's quick win today lays down a marker. She clearly wanted to reserve energy. As a former winner I think she could go all the way.

I'll have it on in the background but it's not really my thing. Think the service format of tennis makes for a lot of dead time in matches. Come on Tim!

See that's one of the appeals for me about Tennis. Its very easy to watch and have on in the background. Sometimes its nice to have that from a Sport.

Have Venus against Burzarneseu on. Its Venus Williams 23rd Wimbledon. They've already been warned not to damage the court! 😀

I'm not a tennis fan so not overly bothered about Wimbledon...what does bother me however is the BBC's coverage, particularly when they disrupt the advertised schedules when (for example) Andy Murray is playing and switch coverage from BBC2 to BBC1, especially when we have something set to record. Everybody in the UK who gets a TV signal can receive both channels FFS! I have been similarly annoyed by the government COVID updates...just put them on BBCNews already! Everyone can get that as well!...and relax

Am with you on the Government updates point!

"I have been similarly annoyed by the government..." I'd have stopped there.
Sad to see Serena going out in the first round. Struggling a bit with injuries at this point. I hope this isn't the end for her. Fingers crossed she still has at least a few more good years in her. Both her and Venus have been great for the sport.

Pretty shameful Royal fest going on on centre court. So what if its been 71 years they've been providing voluteers. Is that really more remarkable than if it was 61 years? Get on with the bloody Tennis!

Thoughts on this. I like McEnroe as a broadcaster, but sometimes his opinions are a bit iffy. I guess only he knews what he was getting at here. She's 18 and barely out of School. People need to cut her a break. She deserves respect and support. She'll be back for sure.

I admit I had the same thought when I read Raducanu had retired, that it could have been the pressure. I mean, 'breathing problems'? Give me a medical reason why a fit 18 year old sportswoman has breathing problems and I'll go with that, otherwise I think it's valid to wonder if it's the pressure.

I guess, its just its almost like saying she can't hack it instead of just understanding that she's 18 and nerves getting to her is understandable. Plus as someone with no medical background I'm not sure its his place to comment.
