Okay, so there is no wind involved but Alexis Noriega from The Crooked Feather is behind this amazing handmade creation that’s operated with the flick of a switch.

Alexis used fabric, glue, wire, and real bird feathers to make her DIY hawk-inspired wings, then used a ‘sophisticated air pressure system‘ to make the wings open up on demand.

According to My Modern Met, ‘to make the wings move, the artist utilized a small paintball tank, which can be hidden on the back of one’s belt. What results is a 15-20 lb. pair of wings that will make any user feel as though they can soar through the sky’.

Alexis has mentioned on The Crooked Feather Facebook page that she hopes to make a tutorial about the DIY wings soon.

I was just thinking those real life superheros that were in vogue a few years back. I am sure, lol, seeing a real-life hawkgirl would strike fear into the hearts of the criminals.

Wings on people like that always makes me think of the Dogma movie and them being machine gunned off their body. For some reason the bloody, stumpy wings in that movie haunted me forever.

I was wondering the same thing too! On the fb comments it says that some are real and some are fake. The real ones are Eurasian Eagle Owl. Don't know if that's correct though because it was the host answering the questions not the maker.

I doubt birds were killed specifically to make the wings. More than likely birds were killed long in advance and they merely bought the feathers to make the wings. Many people buy the wings.

And those did NOT look like chicken feathers! lol now I wouldn't mind seeing someone make those ginormous wings with chicken feathers.
