If you had a choice of being a witch or a slayer, which would you rather be and why?

I'd rather be a witch because I've always wanted to do magic🙂

I'd say witch, you seem to still have control over your own destiny etc, plus the magicks are wicked cool 🙂

I would like to have the slayer powers, just not the short life span that comes with it. So witch it is, I guess.

Slayer. Definitely. Kicking butt in such a wicked strong and cool way definitely appeals to me. Plus, magick of the Buffy variety would SO totally always backfire on me so I'd rather not mess with all that for my OWN safety. Haha.

Course the life span of the average Slayer isn't too appealing...haha

Hm. I'd love to be as effortlessly in shape as a Slayer, but I wouldn't like the destiny thing. I guess I'll have to go with witch.

At first i was going to say Witch but... I'd rather be a Slayer, have the strength, power, stamina, and healing powers, and if i wanted to dabble in some magic i would. I mean, Buffy was able to do a few spells. Sure i wouldn't be like Willow but, at least id get to do some magic and still have Slayer abilities.

I think I'd rather be a Slayer. Would love to kick butt & have super powers. Plus, I don't think I'd be too good with magics, I'm sure I'd mess up all the spells and turn myself into a rat or something a la Amy 😛

Since I'm a guy, I guess there's really only one answer possible for me. Still assuming I could be the world's first male Slayer I'd still go for witch (or wizard/warlock). Personally, I don't see the Slayer's limited life-span as a problem, that just depends on how you use the abilities that you're given. If you chose to ignore your destiny and avoid supernatural encounters, there's no telling how old you could become. The main reason I would go for the magic-user, is that there doesn't seem the be a cap on the maximum power-level. Slayers can only get so strong and they don't gain extra abilities beyond those they start with; sure, they continually increase their skills of strength, speed, agility, and focus, but even that goes pretty slowly. Magic-users are not limited by what their physical bodies are capable of. When they increase in power, they can add a whole arrey of new special abilities, like pyrokineses, telekineses, teleportation, flight. Moreover, as we saw at the end of Season 6, a sufficiently strong magic-user can augment his/her body in such a way that it is on par physically with a Slayer.

I figure, especially since there are like hundreds of slayers running around the globe in the Whedonverse now, I'd be a slayer, as my life expectancy will be a lot longer than previously.

But for real, if I could have the slayer powers, that's exactly what I'd pick over witchy stuff every single time. [Plus I have an addictive personality, so I'd blatantly end up being addicted to magic and do a Willow!].

that's a good point, my addictive personality could be a problem :)
A slayer. It's just something about the strength running thru my veins. It's like a feeling you wont feel anywhere else..maybe.
Although magic is very cool.
Also maybe as a slayer I can date Buffy that way, hahaha.

I'd be a witch. Being a slayer would be awesome too, but you'd be able to do so many more things if you were a witch =P

Lol Social Suicide, yer I could curse them, but I'd rather be able to knock them out lol!

I'd pick slayer every time... When I was 12 I used to run around the house dressed like Buffy with household "weapons" (of the likes of brooms!) pretending to kick butt... And I would love to be able to walk through the rough part of town without being scared of stupid people... Last week I got assaulted by an agro drunk and strangled and afterwards I was just thinking... Man... I wish I was Buffy!!!

A few months ago I went to a party with the theme "I wish I was..." and I went as Buffy... It was cool...

That's all... But the one question is... Can I still smoke while being a slayer?
And would I automatically have much clearer skin and drop a couple of dress sizes?

I would like to be a witch simply because there is more that you could do as a witch. Sure started out being a witch would pale in comparison to being a slayer I mean just simply compare Buffy or Amy in the beginning of their training, however as time passed and Willow and Amy got stronger they were both stronger than Buffy the Chosen One. Buffy's said plenty of times and other people have said how powerful Willow is compared to Buffy. I mean Willow being a witch was the only one powerful enough to hurt Glory, only Willow's witchy powers was able to stop the horde of zombies that infiltrated the castle in Season Eight, of course in order to be as strong as Willow you have to bring somebody back from the dead which will make you stronger and then you have to go evil and absorb a bunch of powerful dark magicks and then go good again so that all that magick will now be inside of you and you won't be able to quit magick as magick is now apart of who you are as a person.

But yeah as a witch I could prevent myself from getting shot by creating forcefields I could fly, teleport, levitate the remote control to me so I don't have to get up, visit other dimensions by opening portals and of course if I wanted I could augment my natural strength to be just as strong, fast, and agile as a slayer and perhaps even more so.

well since slayers are only girls I'd go for witch or warlock to be more correct..but if i had to chose out of all I'd be a Champion like Groo (only not so primitive😛) since he has the strength and good will o ensouled vamps+ daytime hangout😛

If I was choosing between season 3 Willow and a Slayer, Slayer, all the way! I'd love to do some serious arse-whooping.

But, if it was season 8 Willow vs. a Slayer, witch, without a doubt. You could pretty much do anything, including just giving yourself Slayer powers.
