Does anyone watch this. Where I am they are on the 5th or 6th episode of the first season. I'm guessing that America is on the 2nd or 3rd season by now, is it any good?

When I watched the first ep it was OK, the 2nd ep was in improvement but lately its getting to look and sound like, ' the bold and beautiful ' or ' the young on restless '. I'd like to watch it so the question is does it improve?

I'm the same, I got up to 5 recently and thought it seemed like a poor mans charmed, which is a poor mans Buffy. Some of the acting is terrible, but if it does get better I might be inclined to watch more, the premise is right up my street.

I'd never thought of it as a poor man's charmed, but yeah that's sorta true. I disagree with what you say about the acting though, you used the word some I'd have opted for the word most. I must admit to not following the script as close as I should as quite a few of the scenes are not very good (polite vernacular used).
I think my pet hate was that the charmed witches said they were Wicca and they obviously weren't, that and the continuity in one scene that kept being repeated was a complete farce.

I do like the idea of witches though, I like a lot of stuff that is fantasy themed. Must admit I dislike The Originals though, I didn't like them much in vampire diaries. Then when they started living in that house that looks a lot like the one in that city that was the home of a sadistic murderer, the house where 25 people in his extended family were murdered one night. I could be wrong about that but who cares, I didn't care for the show before then.

I kind of like the concept too but I don't like the execution. The supernatural broadly defined is an enduring interest of mine, but I don't like most contemporary explorations of the theme. I'm still developing my thoughts about the problem with contemporary interpretations of these things. Something about most of them turn me off and seem very...contrived(?). That's probably not the best word. And also self-absorbed and too focused on the superficial resemblances. Like a person who thinks they have the idea of professor down once they've figured out the best tweed jacket to wear and the right vocabulary and voice inflections. They stay only at the surface and never come into contact with the real substance pertaining to the matter.

Maybe that's just me.

Someone told me the books the show is based on were good. I can't comment on that.

I didn't even know about the books, but going by how the tv show is I won't bother with the books.
That's one of the funny things about witchcraft on TV. The sounds or 'special effects' that are used when witchy things happen, like telekinesis, telepathy or witchcraft in general being on TV, it must have been like finding an opium deposit to them special effects guys who had their last fix on the 6 Milliondollar Man.
