Everyone should be listening to these guys, they are ****ing amazing!!!

I've seen them live twice and thought they were amazing, all their albums are fantastic especially their DVD "Black Symphony" I think their way better than Evanescence by a mile, can't wait to hear their new album coming out within in the next year or so! 😀

Anyway. WT is a great band. Haven't listened much to them lately though. But come to think of it I haven't listened to much music at all lately so that's not surprising. I can't say that I have a special song that is my clear favourite. I was gonna post some favourite vids but soon notice it'll be at least 10 so I skipped that. :tongue:

I started listening to their music about a year and a half ago now, I love their music and have all their albums, even a special edition of one I think.

I am totally in love with them now, guys!! I downloaded, like, 20 of their songs or something on Limewire last night and I love every one. I love "Frozen", "What Have You Done", "A Rose For the Dead", "Destroyed".... But my favorite of all is "The Howling". WOW. They are freakin' awesome! Sadly, with me living in the U.S. it sometimes takes me a while to find really great bands from other countries. I have always had a taste for Europop (The Corrs, Take That, Robbie Williams, B*Witched, Westlife are some faves), and I'm so happy to have found this band. I'll definitely have to try the others you guys named off here, too. 😀

The Howling is so awesome, the whole song makes me think of Buffy, you should check out their DVD "Black Symphony" its the best live concert I've seen on DVD. They pull out all the stops and perform with a live ochestra. The Cross will always be my favourite song, it sends shivers down my spine every time I listen to it.

Oh damn! This brings back so many memories.. When I was like 10, 11, I listened to their first and second album so much that they litterally broken now. The songs I've seen being mentioned here are mostly from their newer albums, which isn't weird since those were their national and international break-throughs. SO, in case you haven't figured it out yourself already, can I give you one tip? Mother Earth. Grossly underrated, but by far their best album, and, to be fair, the only one with songs I still listen to.

Yay, metal fans!

Within Temptation is awesome. My first WT album was The Heart of Everything, and I still love it, but my favorite is The Silent Force. I especially like the ballads on that album.

I'm also into Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Kamelot, Krypteria, Lacuna Coil, and Avantasia (especially The Scarecrow), among others.

A little off topic but apparently Nightwish will no longer play Bye Bye Beautiful live, there embarassed by it according to Tuomas, which is sad as thats one of my favourites with Anette on lead vocals. Anyone listened to Tarja's solo material? Very powerful stuff.

The Silent Force though is a stunning album from Within Temptation, one of the first I heard from them and it just had me in tears over the ballads, I love Pale and Somewhere, so beautiful. Oh and Forgiven (from The Heart of Everything) live is gorgeous with just Sharon and Martijn on keyboard.

I've listened to both WT and Nightwish, and I find their stuff a little too operatic for me. WT has a lot more songs I find myself jamming to, though. A lot of their stuff is very...pretty, and I like that.

But really, Evanescence has been my band since '03 because I feel like they mesh various genres in just the way I like it. And Origin and the pre-Fallen demos > Fallen AND The Open Door. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

Oh, and Lacuna Coil is a favorite too. Comalies was by far their best album to date, but I like a few songs off of Karmacode and Unleashed Memories too. Shallow Life was a disappointment, but I don't think it was as bad as people say it is. 'Spellbound' kind of rocks my socks, not gonna lie.

I used to love those bands! Especially Lacuna Coil. Nowadays my music taste has shifted a little bit, from more operatic metal to industrial and death metal, but this thread brings back memories like hell. 😀

There's of course a big difference. Tarja is more of an opera singer than Anette. It took a little time to get used to Anette but I'm really loving some of the new songs as well.

Started listening to Within Temptaion when I was 12 back when the Mother Earth album came out.
Don't really listen to much 'Operatic metal' anymore it all seemed to become a bit...comertialised.
I love their songs Mother Earth, Ice Queen, Never-Ending Story, Dark wings and In Perfect Harmony.
As for Nightwish alway kinda found them a little...boring really. But that's just my opinion.

I hadn't heard of them, but I was watching a fan made video on youtube for, I think it was Chloe and Clark from Smallville, and the music was Within Temptations ''Stand My Ground.'' I loved the song as soon as I heard it so I searched for a few more of their songs and loved them too. I bought their album Silent Force which is amazing. Stand My Ground is my favourite song because it was the first song of theirs I'd heard but its followed closely by Angels and Memories.
