At eight thirty that evening when the light had gone from the sky Buffy was walking in the darkened alley on her way to the Bronze, she tentatively gazed around, she felt something or someone near her but she didn’t know what.

Taking four steps forward she almost bumped into Willow, the light from the back of a shop lit her face. Surprised to find Willow by the dumpster Buffy asked her what she was doing there. Willow hesitated. “Please don’t tell my friends that I was speaking to a friend.”

Buffy looked at her, “What?” she asked. Willow tried to smile to Buffy. “Sorry I didn’t mean to confuse you I simply meant that I don’t want you to tell my friends here on earth about my friends up there above the clouds.” Willow pointed up into the sky.

Buffy was amazed, “I thought I was the only one with a big secret, I am the Chosen one, the Vampire Slayer,” said Buffy feeling the pride within her rise. Willow happily smiled to her, “Thank you for telling me it is you, my friends will be glad. They asked me to find you for them.”

Buffy looked to Willow, “Who are they?” Willow held her arms wide with her palms facing skyward to beckon two of them to her, “Hope and Anathema are on their way down to us.”
Buffy was at a loss for words, who are, what did Willow mean.

Buffy tried to imagine what Willow could have meant, just as two winged creatures hovered above them, one had hair the colour of hers while the other had hair of the colour of Willows. Willow put an arm about Buffy’s shoulders and the two floated down to be in front of them.

That loss of words that Buffy had previously felt, now it reared its head again with a greater exaggeration. Buffy faced two Angels, stunned that her new friend Willow knew of them and that they knew of Willow.

Buffy began to realize that she and her mother’s move to Sunnydale had been known by many beings for several days before. At a loss for words Buffy was able to tell Willow that she had intended to go to the Bronze.

Going into the Bronze Willow and Buffy found themselves a table to put their drinks on. Picking two stools for them to be sat on Buffy asked Willow “Where are they?” Willow grinned, “They are watching down to us, that is what they do best.”

Buffy wished she had an Angel to watch over her. “You do,” said Willow, Buffy was shocked, how could Willow know what she had just thought. “You have a Watcher yet for him to be a watcher for you they will always have an Angel to watch over them and the Angel who will watch over you is Saffron,” stated Willow.

“How do you know all that?” asked Buffy. Willow grinned, “You are a Chosen One, chosen be the Powers That Be to watch over all their creations. The Angels were Chosen long ago to watch over all the flora and fauna that were created, now they watch include you to watch over.”

“Why?” asked Buffy. Willow faced Buffy and smiled. “An end has been seen though I’ve been told not to tell you they end of what but know this Buffy if it was us humans that were included in what they said, we humans would not be said as what!” exclaimed Willow.

Giles faced Buffy then looked at Willow, he could tell they had a secret, though both of them thought it funny not to tell him. Xander though took their secretive behavior to heart, he was increasingly annoyed and kept pleading for them to tell him.

Ignoring his pleas Willow picked up a pair of binoculars from Giles’ desk, she took them outside and looked up at the clouds. Buffy glanced at Xander, laughing at his attempts to discover what Willow was so interested in. Xander even tried to get Giles to respond to his pleas.

Giles wiped his glasses as Xander let loose another barrage at the girls, even Giles was beginning to think there antics were funny. He watched as a figure seemed to plummet down through the clouds, as he watched her trajectory she seemed to follow a curve slowly upward until she stopped.

She spread her wings them gently it glided down toward the earth, by that time Giles had become intrigued but the figure landed behind a hill. He immediately began to have doubts about what he’d seen, why though he could not understand, Willow told him not to doubt himself.

Without a reason to Giles knew the figure he had seen was a girl though why he did not fully understand, even more perplexing was Willow’s attitude. She smiled to him, telling him he was right to think that, though he didn’t know what to think about why Willow knew his thoughts.

“It can’t be,” argued Giles with himself, “It has always been a boys name for every Angel.” He thought of Michael and Gabriel. “Maybe so,” stated Willow, “but the one who named the Angels was a human so a human decided if all Angels were male or a female and we all know how wrong humans can be.”

“Many millennia ago the Powers That Be had decided to create a woman to give birth to the first female vampire she would give rise to a hoard of vampires to assist the Angel in controlling the flora and fauna throughout the world, a task they performed admirably.

Recently an Angel had told Willow that a girl had been moved to her school that all Angels would protect her if need be, that the Slayer would arrive to protect the girl. Not knowing who the girl was or what the reason the Angel had to remain with Willow.

Giles was brought to witness and help the slayer. The girl to be protected was a descendant of the woman who was the mother of good vampires. When the First took a child that child killed the First and took its name for itself. It took all those vampires and made them evil.

The reincarnated First began to create Legions of Neanderthal vampires that began to spread throughout the underbelly of the hellmouth forcing all lower demons up onto the earth. Unknowingly the slayer had little time to reason why all hell was breaking loose.

Willow told Buffy she was to protect the descendant of the Power That Be’s vampires; her name was Harmony. Not knowing her Buffy wanted to know how she could recognize any of the Power That Be’s vampires. The Angel Hope presented herself to Buffy and Willow.

Only the vampires with souls were theirs regardless if the soul was given or forced. Harmony went to Buffy to announce who she was. Buffy wasn’t overly attentive of Harmony until Willow stated that Harmony could see and read a persons aura.

Interested in the ability to read a persons aura by any person Buffy wanted Harmony to tell her how it was done. Harmony said that a pure white colour would be owned by an Angel whereas she who was a guide to the Angels, a Goddess would have a clear aura.

One day while sat at a desk in the school’s library a girl laid her deck of Tarot cards in front of her. Willow asked the girl if she could read the cards. The girl replied that she couldn’t though she did say that she liked to look at the pictures, Willow nonchalantly asked the girl her name.

It was when the girl said what her name is that Willow realised who she was. Willow waved Buffy to her, she said the girl is another Angel that she is the one who is to be her direct contact with the Watchers and the Powers That Be, her name is Saffron.

One lazy Wednesday morning Saffron went into the Hotels reception to open her drawer of Saffron’s Secrets, she took her Tarot Cards from a drawer. Going to a central table she sat down then spread the Tarot cards. Giles looked at what she was doing. “Can you read the Tarot Cards?” he asked. Saffron looked up at him. “No but I do like the pictures,” her smile was so sweet.

Saffron had told a lie to Giles as she was quite proficient at reading what each Tarot card meant though she couldn’t face repeating what each card meant or that it could have multiple meanings dependent on which card or cards preceded it also if that card was the correct way up or upside down.

Willow spoke to them, she had just answered the telephone in the reception. “That was a young woman who trains horses for show jumping, she said about a blockage on the road where she works. Some officers from the local police station had investigated the disturbance but eventually they said they were unable to help her so she rang here.

Giles announced that it might be good if they went and helped the girl so half an hour later Giles, Willow, Buffy and Saffron got in a works van and went to see the young woman. Two hours later at eleven thirty the van driven by Giles turned off the highway and onto a lane to Thurscombe Manor.

Giles looked at the mud map he had drawn and stopped the van just before they got to the gate of the second field. The girl who had been teaching horses in that field walked over to the van. “Good morning was it you who rang me?” asked Willow. “Yes, I am Elaine though I didn’t expect you so soon.”

“As you can see I teach horses in the field helping them to prepare for show jumping then I teach the rider how get the best from their horse to do the jumps. Do you want to know about the blockage on the lane?” “Thank you, are you sure it is a ghost?” asked Willow.

Elaine asked if they were there to get the ghost to move on. “About that I was just walking a horse along the lane when I heard what sounded like a stage coach being pulled by a team of four horses not that I saw anything, I think that must be what I thought was a ghost.”

“If it blocked the lane then I think it probably was a stage coach rather than a ghost but why would a stage coach be along this lane?” asked Buffy. Elaine looked along the lane to the highway then to the opposite way, further along the lane. “Thurscombe Manor is that way.

It might be that the ghost was the stage coach from the manor local folklore has it that the stage was reported as missing then it was found, it had been the victim of a violent attack, the driver and his assistant were decapitated though their heads were never found,” said Elaine.

“Can you tell me where the people are buried at the Manor?” asked Saffron. She left to go there. Willow asked Elaine why the ghost had not been reported until recently. “That is an easy question to answer, the lane was only opened recently there used to be another lane three miles
away the lane was resurfaced but no mention of the blockage was made.”

Giles pointed out that the ghost appears at eleven thirty the time the stage was attacked, anyone coming along the lane will find the lane blocked by an unseen thing that know you say might be the stage coach of Thurscombe Manor.”

Elaine said, “It was said the stage coach was found some hundred and fifty years ago it had been attacked and both of the drivers had been decapitated. The odd thing was that even though the drivers had been buried their bodies were never found in their graves.

When Saffron came back from Thurscombe Manors graveyard she said she had found where the servants at the manor were buried though the graves for the stage coach driver and his assistant were both empty. Saffron went to the stage then dug up to skulls from the side of the road.

“How did you know where to look?” asked Elaine. “I’m lucky like that,” said Saffron. She put the skulls on the driver’s seat then climbed up. She vanished but Elaine, Buffy, Willow and Giles heard the stage coach led by the team of four horses trundle by.

When Saffron did return she, Buffy, Willow and Giles got into the van, they decided to have a drink at the local tavern before going to the police station. Going on the bridge over the highway and into the town Buffy pointed to the Tourist Information Offices, Giles asked for the van to be parked outside it.

The people in the office were very pleased that the lane had been cleared. Giles saw the many confused looks between them, he knew what they were thinking. How did any of them see the ghostly figures and how did Saffron know where to dig up the skulls of the drivers?

They wandered into the towns café sitting at the only empty table it was at the rear of the café, after a while a waitress approached them, “Are you here for a coffee and cake or are you waiting to see what is out the back?” Buffy looked to Willow “I’m almost afraid to ask!” she exclaimed.

The waitress smiled to them, “I take it you are not here for the tour?” Giles faced her then not knowing what she referred to he inquired what would the purpose of the tour be. The waitress smiled and said she expected that type of remark from the table.

“It is as I thought from this table, the tables at the back of the café were set aside for people who did not want a coffee but for those who wanted to wander about where the ghosts of the past are known to tread.”

Giles looked to Buffy, Willow and Saffron, he said, “Should we have a cup of tea before we take a tour?” he asked. After allowing them time to finish their cups of tea and coffee The waitress indicated the back door to them, “Beyond the door is where some of the spirits of those who walked here are known to reside.”

They go outside to a damp slippery cobblestone yard, near the wall to the left is a round wooden rail, supported at each end by a post. “That is where the patrons of yesteryear would tie their horses to, before going in for a meal or just a drink.

“Across the courtyard is yesteryears kitchen where several entities of then and now congregate, even the building has disturbing qualities, from the outside there is but one door to see but when we go inside,” said the Waitress.

She unlocked the door, as they were about to go in she had them stop. “As you see there is an open doorway to the left and through that doorway you can see a garden. Yet beyond that doorway is the courtyard. Now go into the door to the right, in there is a young woman who

makes meat squares for our pies, she cuts strips of meat for the stir fry meals and makes the mince for our sausage rolls. If you are lucky you might see her prepare a slice of cooked chook for our renowned chicken sandwiches.”

Giles looked to the girl who was cutting up the meats. “Who is she?” he asked. “That is our Yolanda, she is a nice person if person is the right word for her because she has worked here for over a hundred and fifty years that we know of, she came here expecting to be met by her husband to be but he never showed up,” said the waitress.

About to leave the kitchen Saffron had them stop on the courtyard, she could see four horses tied up at the railing. “Now that is interesting!” exclaimed Saffron. Giles looked to her then to where she had been looking, “Whatever you saw know that no one else could see it or them as well.”

Back in the café they took a table by the front window, Saffron borrowed Willow’s mobile phone and rang the hotel, she asked to speak to Cla-ere. After telling Cla-ere of the café they were in Saffron continued to say she had probably just seen an entry to the garden of purgatory.

Saffron listened to Cla-ere then added she had seen four horses tied up at a rail. Horses that no one else could see. Given the colour of each of the horses Saffron said she was of the belief they were the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Cla-ere told Saffron to leave it with her, she would ask those that knew about where the Four Horsemen were known to be. Word was soon received that the Horsemen had been searching the countryside near there for the First and the Legions of the damned.

Leaving the café they began the walk to the police station, as they passed the entrance to a chapel, a voice is heard coming from the chapel. “We did not hear her say much but that sounded like Yolanda,” said Willow. Buffy looked to Giles, they both agreed with Willow. They go to and open the door to the chapel.

“This is my domain,” screamed Yolanda to them, “so keep walking.” “I take it that she does not remember us so let’s make her,” said Saffron. They all stood inside the door looking along the pews towards the altar and then up at the cathedral ceiling to where Yolanda was watching them.

“I said to keep walking, this is my place.” Willow leads them to the rear pew, and waves each of them to sit in the middle of the pew. “I hope you don’t mind if we sit here for a short while,” said Willow. “What reason is there why I should let you stay here,” said Yolanda.

“I am tempted to agree with you. Tell me do you mind if my friends wait for me here I want to test a theory. I have heard statement that lead me to think that you and another were meant to meet here a long time ago,” Saffron said.

Yolanda stood back as Saffron disappeared, she stood and stared at Buffy “Who and what is she?” asked Yolanda. Before Buffy decided how to reply to Saffron returned. “I went to his grave and asked if he remembered you, he did and said he was to marry you a long time ago.”

Saffron ushered Edward to walk ahead of her, he looked to Yolanda who smiled. “Now I remember you, why didn’t you meet me before?” She asked. Edward said that the stage coach had been attacked and he had been killed.

As they walked from the chapel Willow asked Giles how possible it would be to get a church to perform a wedding ceremony for two ghosts, the humour of the situation was not lost on Giles. When they did get to the police station the Duty Officer asked what he could do for them?

Buffy told him how they had been called to see about the blockage on the lane to Thurscombe Manor, that they had found and cleared the blockage. That they had also made friends with the ghost in the chapel causing her to meet the man she was to marry before she died.

“It does seem a bit inadequate for what you have done for this town, but thank you,” said the duty officer at the police station. As they are walking away from the police station they are joined by Cla-ere and Xander. “That was quick,” said Saffron

“It would have been quicker but being in Xanders car took a while longer, not that Xander drove here I brought us here,” said Cla-ere she was interested to see how accurate Saffron had been with her description on the garden of Purgatory and the Four Horsemen.

She stated that she wanted Hope to go with her to find out if the garden was Purgatory even though there was a strong likelihood it was. Saffron said she could sense the trail of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse having passed that way.

Cla-ere smiled then announced, “It might be the correct time for the secret they had kept to be released.” “Even though most of the Angels knew that three of the horsemen were in fact women, Saffron told me earlier today,” said Willow.

“Was that after she said about a country church that had a demon trapped inside its walls and another was supposed to be on the path around the graveyard,” said Giles. “Well if you want to go there now we might be there just after darkness descends on the land,” said Saffron.

Cla-ere had changed the time and they arrived there at just gone eight thirty the following morning though no one could understand why it took them so long. Wandering along the pavement to the covered archway into the churchyard.

Hope was about to unlock the gate when she heard a woman calling to her. Hope turned to see a woman trying to run on the pavement. “Please do not go into the churchyard, there an entity that throws stones at anyone who tries to enter the church grounds,” said Mrs. Priestly.

“Who are you?” asked Hope. “My name is Mrs. Priestly I watch over the appearance of the inside of the church but lately there is something that throws stones at anyone in the church ground.” Hope looked to the walls of the church.

“You are right in that the person throws stones towards people, she does not throw stones at people she only wants to warn people not to get to near to the building.” Mrs. Priestly was taken aback, “How do you know what that person wants.”

Hope slowly fades from sight then returns to be visible to Mrs. Priestly with Andrea. “This is who threw stones, not to scare people or hurt them but to stop them going into the church as there is a demon inside the church, a demon we need to help,” said Hope.

Mrs. Priestly asked her why anyone would want to help a demon? “The demon is one of The Power That Be it was sent on to earth to help find the evil and the forces of evil it was following the Son when it got trapped in the church.

Mrs. Priestly was so confused, by a demon that was tracking the evil. “I know how to test the demon a friend of mine told me she had seen a creature that walked with its knees that bent backwards. Hope looked towards Cla-ere, “Call the others to be here that night be the lead we have been waiting for.”

“What could be the reason why a demon was in the church?” asked Kassandra. “All old church were designed as magnets to trap every demon within it’s walls.” It was the purpose of the meeting house to enable The Power That Be’s demons to escape the church.

The Angels Hope and Andrea followed through into the lands where Mrs. Priestly’s friend had seen the demon. They followed the footprints into the tunnels and questioned those they found about where the Son had been seen.

Not being forth coming about where to go they called to the Goddess for her assistance. When Cla-ere reached them they said about the problem. “A simple fix,” said Cla-ere, she began to enable her dome of light to begin. The demon felt its sinewy skin begin to singe.

For hours after the demons skin fell to a soft crackle then Andrea asked Cla-ere to help them end the Sons existence. Increasing the glow of her dome the demon quickly began to divulge where the Son and his Legions could be found.

Back with the other Angels Cla-ere said of the Son’s predicament, to choose a force of twenty Angel’s to line the ridge of the hill that governed the horizon. The Sons forces saw an opportunity to win over the Angels.

The Legion of several thousand vampires covered the land up the hill towards the ridge, as the bright of the day filled the air the small Legion began to appear as so much more. Forests of the Silver Birch and the Oaks disguised the lines of Angels that flew from the sky.

They marched down that hill then through a forest then formed six lines of five hundred Angels for the Sons vampires to see. In front of them the Goddess Cla-ere appeared with the Goddess Dena as each Angel slapped her wings, the sound of three thousand Angels slapping their wings became a roar.

The unending line of Angels that lined the land behind the forest added great impetus the to Angels battle cry.

The Goddesses reached behind her to the distorted sound waves, then pulled the distorted waves over their heads and thrust them into the ground just below the feet of the Sons vampires. Vast explosions erupted as the Sons vampires.

Able to see the Sons vampires as the sun thrust its rays of light over the horizon was breached by the sun they were thrown skyward until they crossed into the sunlight. The Legions of the damned became victims of the violence of the sun.

Then the sound waves compounded to breach the floating mountains of the sky. The Goddess Cla-ere knew that not all was right, she drew on her abilities to seek where the Son was. He was found not to be one of those that had succumbed to the distorted sound waves.

The Son had held onto one of the planets trees, he had held onto it whilst all else had succumbed to the sound waves. The Powers That Be had willingly joined forces with the First, their energies created an inglorious border of light over the clouds, they sent massive energy balls of pure light to end the Son.

At the restaurant the hotel’s head waitress was contacted, Christina was wanted to tell the vampires of The Powers That Be to heed her call. With the Son now expelled from existence the vampires of the Powers That Be could realize their freedom.

Cameron and Mackenzie heard Christina’s call and allowing their attributes to tell them when ledges were within reach, when they could see through the darkness of the tunnel and the speed to move from falling soil and rock.

The strength gained from constantly pulling their bodies upwards. Cameron’s and Mackenzie’s fingers had become so enabled with strength that they could pull themselves up onto the planets outer crust.
