OK now these 2 are total rumours, but there such fun I just have to post the whole thing:

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" mastermind Joss Whedon may write and direct a big-screen "Wonder Woman"? While Fox is still secretly pursuing Whedon for "X-Men 3"??

I tell you it's crazy enough to be true!

This could be a hoax, but I find it at least a little hard to believe anyone would go to the trouble of making up something this unbelievable!! Moreover, this source seems to have the knowing of much, and is aware that, back in October, Whedon told the world that Fox never approached him about directing a third X-Men feature.

Of course, October was a long time ago. Simon Kinberg (he's the fellow who did those uncredited rewrites for "Catwoman" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle") has probably had time to turn in his draft of the "X-Men 3" script.

So file this under "rumor." But if it turns out to be true, remember you heard the Whole Whedon Wonder Woman What here first "¦ Dear Moriarty, Harry and Herc: I've sent in the odd movie review to Harry before, but never something like this. This is so good, so COOL - and so confirmed by multiple sources (hey, people hang out with work friends), that I wanted to give Ain't It Cool the world exclusive on this. Ain't it cool? The only possible thing standing in this picture's way is X-MEN 3. I know what's been said, but Fox is still coming after him hard to direct that, and that's a tough thing for a guy like Joss to pass up. But he probably will. For WONDER WOMAN. Call Joel Silver and ask him about it. I'm serious, this is very real. Negotiations are ongoing, but this could break in the trades any day. Guys, I'm giving you the exclusive because I'm such a fan of your site, but in a day or two, I'm going to send the info to other places as well...I'm that psyched about it, and I think that Joss's legions of fans should know how close they are to to gold-braceletted greatness. So anything else I can do to prove my rightousness, email me back and I'll do it. Do your due diligigence, call Joel Silver, call anyone you want, and get this news out there. If it does turn out to be true (and not saying that it will), then it could be interesting with the casting rumours that have also gone around about Eliza and Charisma being up for the lead.

Joss Whedon Courted for Wonder Woman
TV Guide Online says "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon is being wooed by Warner Bros. to write and direct a "Wonder Woman" film. The site says a deal (and, presumably, an announcement) will be forthcoming.
Additional information about the project hasn't been released, but TV Guide is kick-starting the casting rumors by throwing Sarah Michelle Gellar's name into the mix. There's absolutely no proof that Gellar will someday pilot the Invisible Jet, but her "Buffy" past certainly couldn't hurt. For that matter, it wouldn't hurt Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, Eliza Dushku, Amber Benson, Michelle Trachtenberg, Emma Caulfield or any other female "Buffy," "Angel" or "Firefly" vets, either.

The Whedon "Wonder Woman" rumors first emerged last week in a report from Ain't it Cool News. Ain't it Cool News' source also claims that Fox is pursuing Whedon to direct "X-Men 3," which, incidentally, was rumored a few months ago.

It's only fitting that full-throttle rumor mongering be attached to the "Wonder Woman" movie. This film is one of those projects that flares up like a bad virus. For years, the likes of Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey (yes, Mariah Carey) have expressed varying levels of interest in the role, but nothing has ever developed. Whedon's involvement could be the catalyst the project needs to transcend the years of rumors. Let's just hope he doesn't reignite those unfortunate Mariah Carey rumblings.

I could definitley see Sandra Bullock in the role, but if they casted JHoe or Mariah the Pariah, no one would go see it 😀

I'm going to stand by my argument that Charisma would make the best Wonder Woman out of all the actresses named thus far. Wonder Woman wasn't a skinny, bony, no boobed petite lil thang...and neither is Charisma.
 
'Wonder'ful news for Whedon fans

Hey people. I just found out courtesy of my local paper that The Man They Call Joss is all but signed to write and direct the comics-to-film adaptation of Wonder Woman. I personally think it's cool, since the man is about as big a comic book nerd as the geeky trio of baddies he brought on to BtVS Season 6, and should bring an interesting and unique approach to the character.
 
Yeah, the rumour is spreading like wildfire since TV Guide lent it credibility.

You know what though. I'm going to go out on a limb, and say I still think it's bogus. Here's why...

Every time I've ever heard the name Warner Brothers mentioned in the same sentence with phrases like inside sources, credible sources, or reliable sources the rumour turned out to be bogus.

Until I see just one instance of that truism proven incorrect, I'm going to say leopard's don't have stripes. They have spots.

With Whedon rumours in particular, WB seems to want to befuddle the masses by creating the illusion Joss still wants a WB connection.

Now I know this is the film division of Warner not the TV division. Nevertheless the name Warner is still the same, I can't help thinking this rumour may have originated at the TV headquarters. It was Herc from Ain'titCool who started it. The same Herc who started the Spike as Male Slayer rumour.

I admit, I could be proven wrong minutes after I click post here. The news could come out that Whedon signed, but until that happens reason is going to tell me this rumour is bogus. And if it should turn out I'm correct it's going to be engrained on my brain. Herc created this rumour, and TV guide lent it credibility.
 
But even one of Joss's Serenity actresses talked about it, and said she was hearing things from Joss's camp and the online camp so I wouldn't rule it out yet.
 
I wasn't able to view that in the media format.

What did Summer actually say? I was under the impression she was asked about the rumour, and said she thought it would be a good idea or something like that, then recommended a couple of her Firefly alum for the Wonder Woman role.

Do you know of anywhere where I can read it in text?
 
I saw this in the papers this morning, Sarah Michelle Gellar was on the front page.
Uh.. I´m currently on vacation in Chile visiting the biggest part of my family. I was kinda thrillied and surprised to see SMG on the front page. The article said Joss was going to direct/produce a new wonder woman movie and that SMG and Charisma potential wonder women. BtVS was mentioned severl times. I didn´t even know BtVS was that big over here!

I´m hoping Charisma getst the part, she´s so a better WM than SMG...
 
BBC Cult have also posted the TVGuide article so that lends it a bit of credibility for me...still drooling over Charisma as Diana here...

Oh. Please. No. No!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the amazing ending that X2 had, I really do not want the guy who wrote Catwoman and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle writing my X-Men movie. Bad idea people.

As for the casting if Joss is picked, do you really think he would go with a Buffy alum? Seems like he would want some variety.

But if he does, please no Sarah. Stay away from typecasting, take a good role for once. Charisma, yes, she needs it and definitely looks the part.

As far as the Wonder Woman rumour goes, he didn't outright deny it, so that makes you think there might be something to it...or is that just wishful thinking.

There's more on the Wonder Woman rumour, and it's starting to look like it really is just a rumour in spite of what Herc, Kristen, and the TV Guide guy say.

Both sides seem to be expressing some kind of interest, but remember that was also the case with the X-Men 3 rumour.

Whedon Wooed For Wonder

Producer Joel Silver confirmed to SCI FI Wire that he is wooing Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon to write and direct a new film version of Wonder Woman. "I'm trying," Silver said in an interview at WonderCon in San Francisco on Feb. 19. "I'm trying to work a deal with Joss. ... I was just in the other room [where Whedon was talking about his upcoming SF movie, Serenity]. I don't know if I could work that out. It's a complicated deal to do, but I would love him to do it. It would be great if he could do it."

Silver (the Matrix films and the upcoming House of Wax) said that Whedon, an avowed comic fanatic and current author of Marvel's Astonishing X-Men series, came to him with a new twist on the venerable character. "It's just a great, legendary comic-book hero, and it's one that has never been kind of brought back to life after Lynda Carter [who starred in the 1970s Wonder Woman TV series]. I mean, it's a reinvention. ... Tim Burton reinvented Batman after Adam West, and ... [director Richard] Donner reinvented Superman after George Reeves. It's time to do that to Wonder Woman. It's a thing that could be great if it's done great. ... The idea is to try to find a way to make it, and I thought Joss has a great idea, because he understands a kind of female superhero character, and also he's great at what he does. So I'm trying to find the best way to do it. ... We're working our way through it."

HERC: Joel Silver!!! (Silver hears me and leaps from his seat. I wave him over. Shockingly, he wanders over and shakes hands.) I'm with Ain't It Cool News.

HERC: I want to ask you what's going on with Whedon!
JOEL SILVER (smile vanishes; pulls away hand; he begins to retreat to backstage): Two days!
HERC: You're announcing something in two days? (Silver stops, nods, continues toward the backstage area.) Do you want to say anything about what's holding things up?
JOEL SILVER: Two days!
HERC: This week?

Lame, right? Maybe Silver just says "two days" to any stranger who asks him about something he doesn't want to talk about.
So I get home and what's the first thing I see on Ain't It Cool? Moriarty's story about the "Layer Cake" guy getting the "X3" directing job that every X-Men fan on this planet thought Whedon should get.
Stay with me. Here's the exact words the guy "“ the guy who first gave us the Whedon Wonder Woman scoop - used way back on Dec. 14::

The Hollywood trade papers report Thursday morning that it's a done deal, though no start date has yet been set, and no one has been cast. AICN sources have long maintained that Warner Bros. hopes to have its big-screen "Wonder Woman" in the cinemas by summer 2006.

For those new to the site, Whedon masterminded "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel" and "Firefly," three of the finest entertainments ever televised. He made his feature directorial debut last summer with "Serenity," the big-screen sequel to "Firefly," which hits movie screens in September. He also co-wrote "Toy Story" and created a really great script called "Alien: Resurrection," which was directed by a guy who didn't speak much English and the movie itself didn't turn out so good.

Silver Pictures, producer of the revolutionary, $3 billion-grossing "Matrix" franchise, has signed Joss Whedon, creator of the phenomenally popular Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series, to write and direct the feature film action adventure Wonder Woman based on the DC Comics character. The announcement was made today by Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.

"We are excited about working with Joss," Robinov said. "He brings great energy and creativity to the process. His work on Buffy makes him uniquely qualified to handle the Wonder Woman character."

"There's no one better than Joss to adapt the legendary Wonder Woman comic book character created in the 1940s into a dynamic feature film for 21st century audiences," producer Joel Silver added. "Wonder Woman was the first great female superhero to emerge from comic books and later inspire millions of fans in her television incarnation, but unlike her counterparts Batman and Superman, this groundbreaking heroine has yet to be reinvented for the feature film arena."

Whedon created and executive produced the hit television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which ran for seven seasons on The WB and UPN, based on his screenplay for the 1992 feature film of the same name. Whedon also created and executive produced the successful Buffy spin-off series Angel, and wrote the screenplays for the films Toy Story and Alien: Resurrection. He is currently completing post-production on the feature film Serenity, which he wrote and directed based on his television series Firefly.

Wonder Woman will be produced by Joel Silver and Leonard Goldberg, and is based on the DC Comics character created by William Moulton Marston.
