I'm just curious... I was watching S7 today... And I caught something that confused me... Nikki Wood, the Vampire Slayer that Spike killed in New York City, in 1977, was Robin Woods mother... The part that confuses me is that, Robin had said in an earlier episode that he grew up in Beverly Hills (cant remember which episode, but Buffy said something about him growing up in the hood, and he said yea, of Beverly Hills). Now, I'm sure they could have moved to New York, but if they were in Beverly Hills for his childhood, how does that work. I didn't know slayers re-located from time to time to fight evil. Buffy's never really left Sunnydale to fight anything...

I'm curious why? If it's because of all the evil in Sunnydale because of the Hellmouth, then why don't they re-locate EVERY slayer there?

Good catch, um maybe when Nikki died (Wood looked about 8-maybe older/younger) and her Watcher took Wood under his care, they moved to Beverly Hills? I'm not sure...just a guess.
Even though it was probably just a continuity error.

Wood's mother died when he was 4, so I'm pretty certain that his mother's watcher took him to Beverly Hills and raised him there.

Yeah, that makes sense.. And it really is a minor detail, but those things seem to bug me the most 😀

I'm curious why he would move to Beverly Hills anyway... He was a New York based Watcher, as Giles and Robin were discussing in "Lied My Parents Told Me".

I look into things way too much 😛

Moving is the obvious answer to the where he grew up thing.

As for why, maybe Watcher turned Daddy wanted to go somewhere that wasn't connected to his former job.

He said it during the eps where Buffy never knew who his real identity was.So he lied to keep his secret safe.He really grew up in NY.

Yeah, I really don't understand what the problem is with this one.

I mean the explanation has already been given by Miss_World 13.

Nikki Wood died. Crowley, her watcher took young Robin with him to Beverly Hills and raised him.

Why is this a problem? If Buffy had died, Giles would eventually have returned to England. We saw this in Season 6. He didn't adopt Dawn and take her with him, but would it have been a great flaw in continuity if he had?

Well, Dawn was a good bit older than Wood was, and she also already had a good network of loved ones around her (Scoobies).

Question though, could Nikki's watcher have gotten a new charge (i.e. slayer) who was located in Beverly Hills and that's why he relocated with Wood?

If a watcher's slayer dies, is that it? Do they cease to become watchers?

That's a good question... I don't think that they ever addressed that, especially when Buffy died (the second time).

Maybe they get recycled through the council... But seeing as Giles wasn't a big fan of the council, I doubt he would have... Knowing how most relationships between the Watcher and their Slayer are closer than most a Slayer has, I wouldn't think many Watcher's would WANT to do it all over again...

I think watchers do get recycled.

Most of them probably feel seem great grief when their slayer dies, but not all had the same kind of bond that Giles had with Buffy.

Kendra's watcher was very respected so that leads me to believe that he probably had a previous slayer.

Plus with so many potentials that had watchers, it seems like that after their slayer died they might look after a potential.

That is an interesting point here. We did see that some of the potential had watchers, and some didn't even know they were potentials. You may be right, perhaps non-working watchers were assigned to potentials...I think we saw that with Kendra as well..her watcher took her in when she was very young to begin her slayer-training.

Kinda sad that these girls may not actually be called as slayers yet they had to basically dedicate their lives to training as potential slayers ...all for a 'might happen.'

Nikki Wood was killed when Robin was four years old. Is it possible that when Bertrand Crowley became Robin's guardian, they had moved to California, where Robin spent the rest of his childhood?

The reaosn every slayer isn't relocated to sunnydale is because according to the wish other watchers, besides giles didnt know it was a hellmouth
