Words you pronounce wrong

Are you serious? In my case the question should be titled with "Wich words do you pronounce correct?".

it's different when it comes to different languages.
Ahh I just thought of one that I intentionally pronounce wrong. Sean. But only when used to refer to Sean Bean. I can't say it as shaun when it's next to Bean. He's Sean Bean. Seen Bean. Normally I automatically pronounce Sean as Shaun but I just can't with him 😛

Not a word but a combination of two words. I really like to add 'n' for the 'a' even when I'm not supposed to. So for example, for the word animal, you'd say 'an' animal. But I also add the 'n' for a word like 'dog', so it would be 'an dog', or 'an cake'. Just to make it clear, I do it on purpose, I enjoy butchering languages!

It's not a problem, I do intentionally. It's a hobby 🙂
 
During the course of normal conversation, I can't say "sixth" it always comes out as "sikth" wih a k sound instead of a ks sound in the middle. Which proved probematic when I worked at Blockbuster when The Sixth Sense came out. I can say it as a word on its own, but not when surrounded by others.
 
I pronounce Chipotle as "Chi-poy-tull" instead of "chi-pote-lay"...because I find it amusing, and sometimes when I say "specific" I say "sssspecific" unintentionally...hahah it's odd.

Ok, I used to say tomorrow as tomarrow, and I used to say photographer as photo. grapher.

But the main one is even though I know its wrong I will still say the word writ, I just think it should be a word!!! Also I say frakkin, but thats more of a tv show thing 🙂
 
I didn't realise how "chipotle" was meant to be pronounced until I heard it in an advertisement (for Subway, I think) in Australia eight years ago- similarly that "ciabatta" is three syllables rather than four. My own affectation is to stress the first syllable in "exquisite".

Interestingly I did once hear that linguists have found that over time, the stress in any given word tends to move from the last syllable to the first- the usual example of this is "controversy", where the modern way of saying it stresses the first syllable but some people still stress the second and historically it used to be the third (probably because it's the part that's derived from the verb so is the "active" part of the word.

I'd stress the second syllable in "controversy".
I have a northern/Midwest American accent and therefore say everything correctly. 😛😉
 
For some unknown reason, I can't ever seem to pronounce "multiplication" correctly when I say it out loud. It always comes out as "Multipliclaytion", sadly, no matter how many times I yell it, lol.

Also, I always say (and write) "clam down" instead of "calm down", but that's on purpose. 😀

I had an e at the end and pronounce it wrong. Rick, Max and Lu can tell ya. lol. They corrected me.
 
Sometimes the "wrong" pronunciation of a word actually is the correct one. For instance, in Georgia, there is a city called Lafayette, named for the French general who helped the Colonies during the Revolutionary War. Proper pronunciation would be "lah-fay-ETTE,' with emphasis on the last syllable, but for some reason, at some time, Georgians have come to pronounce it "lah-FAY-ette," with emphasis on the middle syllable. So, in this case, the "right" pronunciation of the name is the "wrong" pronunciation of the city that has that name.
 
In english probably most of them. My pronunciation sucks. I manage english ok when it's written but if I have to speak it's a wreck. Sadly this applies too often even when others speak if they have an accent. Which most people do.
 
I can not pronounce asked correctly. I am just unable to say it, it always leads to "Axed" which then leads to confusion of the other party. When I try to say it correctly, it turns into "as-ka-id-ed", lets just say I do not have much success with this word. 😛


I have just been able to say specific this past year! I was very proud of that. 🙂
