Yet again England manage to disappoint. A superb first half but a completely dreadful second. They will not do very well in the knock-out stage if they underperform like that again. Plus, it looks like Owen is out for the rest of the tournament after twisting his knee in the first minute of last night's game. It seems Sven's gamble in only taking four strikers is not going to come off...

i have to agree with that gamble - wtf?

I gotta say I wasn't even impressed with England in the first half. I'm a big fan of Joe Cole and his goal was amazing, no question, but Like Mr Pointy said, 'they will not do very well in the knock-out stage if they underperform like that again.' I was disappointed in Rooney, yet again. Beckham managed 'some' good crosses but for the best player in the world, not so good. Crouch....I still don't rate at all. But my two biggest annoyances were Owen Hargreves and Carragher (spelling?). They were appaling, clumsiness that rivaled even that of crouch. Seriously my faith in England continues to waver.

Actually, I thought Hargreaves finally justified his place in the squad last night. He had a good, solid game as the holding midfielder, which let Joe and Frank Jr press forward much more. I thought Carragher was OK but they do miss Gary Neville at right back.

I don't rate their chances against Germany after Equador and i reckon if we do win against them it will be at the skin of our teeth.
Plus Micheal Owen is out for at least six weeks/months, i can't remember which.

also .... michael didnt get his chance to shine.... we all know he wasnt fully match fit... ( last game he played for newcastle was newyear.... oh and id like to point this out too.... he plays for newcaslte too.... so... hummm alan sherear retireing and owen out ..... WERE GOING TO HAVE NO STRIKERS.... THE FA NEED TO COMPENSATE US !!!! ) so weve now got crowtch and rooney.... great players but... rooney just back from injury...... well wel see on sunday v equador....... ( second half which i managed to see.... the defending was disscrasful... and swedens 2nd goal......

the defending on Swedens second goal was worse that disgracful...it was bloody terrible!! three England players in the box (Campbell, Ashley Cole, and...i forget who the other one was) and they ALL missed it! not one of them got a touch of the ball!

England's playing has been bad thus far, if they have any hopes of making it past Ecuador they need to get their act together! COME ON ENGLAND!!

also, Owen...poor guy, you gotta feel sorry for him. actually, i REALLY feel sorry for him, 'cause i think i'm getting sympathy pains for him...i've hurt my knee too and i have to go to hospital! lol, poor us! 😀
