Hm, probably not the worst cover ever, but Tom Jones and The Cardigans' cover of Burning Down the House made me really sad..
Ah I guess there are too many now that I'm actually starting to think about it..

I was just about to mention this but you got there before me...I may be mistaken about this but I'm sure I heard Don McLean pick Madge's version as one of his "Tracks of my years" on the Ken Bruce show (BBC Radio 2) recently...I can only put it down to his advancing years or a desperate need for royalty payments...

My vote for the worst cover ever would be Rolf Harris doing the Led Zeppelin number Stairway To Heaven.

The best I've heard is Slade's cover of Steppenwolf's Born To Be Wild on the album Slade Alive

As far as good covers are concerned, Lorrie Morgan did a very good job with the Eagles' "Ballad of the Sad Cafe", and virtually everyone has done a better cover of "Hot Rod Lincoln" than the original artist...
