worst main character(ie credit, major recurring)

Toss up between Riley and Connor

Riley definetly. I liked him up until he started going all crazy from the Initiative stuff. They should have just made him recurring instead of putting him in the credits.

What? Connor? NOOO!!! *echo echo*
lol, moving on...
i'm gonna go with Riley...i thought he got pretty pointless once S5 started. they should have just left him as a recurring, instead of main cast member.
was Riley added to the credits before Spike? i can't remember

No, Spike was added first although Riley appeared in season 4 before Spike did.
I guess it's a toss up between Dawn and Connor for me. Although I understand how they both felt, because they had to deal with alot of bullshit that was outta there control, they both annoyed me. Especially in Season 5 of Buffy and Season 4 of Angel. Other than that no characters really got on my nerves.

I am with you on this one.
Hm...for me personally it has to be Harmony in Angel. She was kind of...pointless...I don't hate her, she is my one of my favorite characters, it just seemed silly she became a main cast member.

I loved Harm's Way though.

I dont know most of the time dont really like connor but there are some times i do. Season 4 of buffy i really like riley when they first get togeather. But gone off him in season 5.

Riley would be my choice.
I thought his introduction was interesting.
I thought that he would be the one that split Willow and Oz as they seemed to have that instant 'connection'. I actually thought that it would have been interesting for Willows character to 'date' someone who had brains but feasibly could have been the 'High-School Jock' further adding to the juxtapostion of 'New Willow' from her High School persona.
Don't get me wrong, i'm absolutely chuffed that Willow became lesbian as that brought the wonderful Tara into our show, however I can't help but wonder what storylines would have been explored if she had gone with Riley and Xander became gay with say Larry...not that I want those visuals.

Riley and the initiative get alot of stick, I know I give them alot myself, but potentially these creations could have been the making of an even better show with a greater scope. Something like the Initiative would have easily transposed itself on the 'Angel' world and caused a great amount of conflict. The only reason it didn't was because of its poor use and execution on Buffy.

Riley did become something of a pointless character in season (arguably 4)5 and he definitely didn't fit in the Buffy World. 'As you were'(?) shows us a side to Riley that I actually liked and could honestly have invested personal time in watching more of his story especially if Sam joined too.

Sam was awesome, she should have shown up again. Without Riley. 🙂

I agree that The Initiative is interesting, in concept perhaps, but it just felt awkward and out of place, the way they did it.

Xander, gay? I cannot even begin to imagine how THAT would have played out, nor can I imagine them ever showing Xander lovey-dovey with some dude (for good reason). I keep hearing that several clues were supposedly dropped early on for both Willow and Xander being gay, for whichever one they finally decided on. Willow's were easy, but I don't recall any for Xander. What were they?

Riley, of course.

In S6, Buffy bothered me a lot but now that I don't have her, I miss her, so she can't be such a terrible character 😛.

Dawn and Connor are serious cases...

She was an annoying childish girl, but that's past, now she's nothing like that. Connor is a guy with a complicated life, so I forgive him. Riley, instead, is useless, annoying, silly, boring and has lame hair... Don't like him at all <_<.

I loved Connor so blah i'm probley the only one lol other then a few here and there... so i'd have to say Riley... At first i HATED him with a passion then i kinda sorta was ok with him and still am but out of all the main characters out of the years he was the one i hated most. I dont know the whole soldier boy thing was just kinda BLAH

I never hated Connor, really. Sometimes his eternal angst annoyed me, but I understood why he was the way he was, and I could understand Dawn too. Riley, on the other hand, is just pathetic and there's no real reason. 😉

i suppose the clues for Xander being gay would have been everything that happened with Larry. Larry coming out to Xander, then trying to get that Freddie dude to put a coming our ad in the school newspaper.
ok, so the only reason i remember that bit is 'cause i wacthed 'Earshot' the other day, but it's still relevant!

i can't think of any more Xander hints.

Oh yeah I forgot about that.
I'm gonna have to echo everyone and say Riley. He/The Initiative completely ruined season 4 for me.

LOL^^^ instead we had the bad initiative plot that would of been better as BotD sugested in Angel.

Riley was underused and piontless, so it has to be Riley.

Sure, ok not really. I don't think he was as bad as people make out. His conflict between Buffy and the military was moderately interesting.
