What do you think was the worst ending for a ship? Tragic death (Xanya)? Walking away (Buffy/A lot of people)? Betrayal?
It doesn't have to be your favorite ship, just one with a sad/bad ending.
I think Jenny's brutal death by neck-snap, paired with Angelus's use of her body to torment Giles, was a shocking and saddening end to the G/J ship.

I guess technically didn't end the ship but the ends of hells bells, when xander walks away and anya takes those steps down the isle then collapses.... that breaks my heart every time!!

I agree about Giles/Jenny cuz there was so much more to explore. Same with Cangel.

I didn't like that Wes/Fred ended after having only been together a few days.

For me, personally, it was Willow/Oz. There was so little forshadowing to it and it just felt too sudden. Granted, we saw Veruca in the Roomate and Beer Bad, but we didn't see Oz werewolfness causing enough of a problem in their relationship to warrant him leaving (thus ending) what had been the most stable romantic relationship on the show up until that point. I know Seth's movie schedule is ultimately what rushed the storyline (which was meant to be dragged out through Season 4) but it just wasn't a satisfactory enough ending to one of my favorite couples.

I'm biased for sure but even if we got some really sad endings but to me nothing can compare to Tara and Willow.

I never thought about this before, but so many ships have ended with tragic deaths - Giles-Jenny, Willow-Tara, Xander-Anya, Wesley-Fred, Wesley-Lilah, Buffy-Spike (before we knew he would be back). And you could perhaps throw in the just-budding Cordelia-Doyle ship. And Joyce and the man who sent her flowers.

But I agree that Giles-Jenny was the saddest, especially with how Angelus tormented Giles with the body. ("Poor Giles!" - Xander.)

The WORST ship ending: Willow/Tara
The SADDEST ship ending: Fred/Wesley

Fred/Wesley was heartbreaking.
Any of Willow's ships. I mean, they're all pretty tragic and traumatizing in some manner.

Yeah, even Kennedy.

I'm amazed that someone hasn't already mentioned Xander's break up with Cordelia (does their ship even have an official name? Xandelia? Cordander? Them, anyhow) It's obvious that they're both broken hearted. Theirs was the only break up that I can recall that actually included tears., and I'm a pure sucker for a crying lady.

As much as I don't like Fred/Wesley, I think they got the saddest ending.

For the worst I think pretty much everyone has a claim to that, no ship went quietly into that good night. I have to say that the Gunn/Fred break felt particularly heartless to me, on Fred's part, it was like she just amputated him from her heart.

This si so off topic, but I quoted your banner to my soccer team yesterday.
I think the Wesley / Lilah ending was very raw and traumatizing to watch even though i don't ship them. Otherwise id say Cangel or Fresley

I think I'm going to have to agree with this, and mainly it's because of Alyson's acting. I always cry when she cries!! The season 8 breakup- the entire situation was so traumatic from Willow's POV. And even though she annoyed the hell out of me, I did feel bad for Kennedy.

Although watching Buffy cry in Willow's lap in The Prom...yeah.

The most tragic death for me was Fred's- simply because the entire team was sooo broken up about it. And also, where's her soul? It's just...gone. The soul is really important in the 'verse, so that is a devastating concept. She has no peace.

Definitely Giles/Jenny. Him coming back to his home to find her dead is just twisted, something that stays with a person for a long time I imagine. I guess that's part of the reason why he never really made much of an effort to find anyone else and commit to them after she died.

Exactly how I feel.
Fresley, probably... because of that horrible detail of her soul being utterly annihilated, and thus no chance of reunion for them in any kind of afterlife (making her death by far the most tragic and horrifying death in the verse, to me).

If it hadn't been for that detail, I'd change to Giles/Jenny. The way in which Angelus arranged for her body to be found by Giles, adding torturous insult to fatal injury, was the worst ending of a ship once you leave out the metaphysical implications in Fred's death.

Agree with everything.
I think the saddest ship ending was Tillow. It was so sad, I loved Tara so much. 🙁 She was the only normal one in the group, she was like the Mom figure. I really don't get why people don't really like Tara, but I loved her, and miss her.

Also Xanya. They obviously both still loved each other, it's too bad they weren't able to work things out before she died. But maybe that would have made it even sadder.

Oh! And how could I forget Giles/Jenny. I love those two, and I loved Jenny as well. And the way it happened, and how Jenny was on the bed, and Willow crying on the phone, it was all really tragic and sad. 🙁 Also the part when Giles sees Drusilla as Jenny always gets to me.

For the worst ending, I would say Xander/Anya, Giles/Jenny and Willow/Tara, for different reasons.

The saddest ending... I will go with Fred/Wesley (so horrible) and Lilah/Wesley (Wes really break my heart after Lilah's death).

Spuffy & Cangel also had sad endings, but in the same time, those endings were so beautiful (in the writing, the symbolism...). But post-Chosen, Spuffy aren't done, so I don't know if I can really chose them.

The killing of Jenny and how Angel/Angelus sets up his "killing artwork" for Giles to find as well the final death scene of Wesley and Fred. These are the two that I found most heart breaking.

Giles/Jenny was definitely the saddest for me (because I'm biased obviously). But Fred/Wesley was also very tragic because her soul was destroyed. In a universe where the soul actually exists, the implications of that are just beyond comprehension. It was horribly tragic. The ending which made me cry the most though was the ending of Tara/Willow. I almost always cry when Willow cries, and the whole arc at the end of Season 6 was heartbreaking. It completely destroyed Willow.
