*Warning* Spoilers inevitable! if you have not yet seen all of everything. 🙂

I'm sure a lot of you watched Buffy and Angel like I did, long after they aired on television. Though my cousin tried to keep me away from all of the spoilers, it's really hard to be an avid fan and do so. What did you wish you hadn't already known when you first watched?

The first two spoilers I accidentally came across while reading about Sunnydale on Wikipedia weren't too bad. I found out Sunnydale was destroyed in the end... but who didn't see that coming. The funny one was that I read about "Anya and Xander's wedding" and thusly assumed they got the happy ending I was yearning for. I'm sure my cousin had a hard time not smirking when I told her about that one.

The evil spoiler that did spoil a lot for me was finding out that Spike was a principal in Angel season 7. Shame, shame.

Is anyone else vaguely upset that the series are blatantly insensitive to giving away upcoming content in the show both on its discs and in the menus?

Mine is non-TV related.

I was in 6th form and it was the time of 6th Sense.
Some idiot told me the twist!!

I was SO annoyed because I had tickets for that night.
It was, in fairness to said idiot, an accident, but still🙁

Yep, that one was spoiled for me as well. Really makes the movie far less enjoyable to know that before you watch it.

To be fair I think the "twist" in that film was blindingly obvious about 5 minutes in.
The death of Spike. I was watching it on a time shift and someone called and told me I can't believe Spike died five minutes after the original broadcast.

Can you believe that! AGH!

Ouch! That's like the opposite of my Spoiler, as I knew he had to come back somehow.
I read that Tara was murdered before I even saw the first episode she appeared in. I didn't know exactly when it happened though so I was kind of waiting for it to happen for awhile there. I thought for sure when Glory went after Tara assuming she was the key that Tara was going to bite the dust right then and there.

I also (quite stupidly) decided to watch a new episode that was airing on TV while I had only watched up through season two. I watched "Lies My Parents Told Me" and thus discovered Spike got a soul, among other things. I was able to follow it fairly well for someone who was not caught up on quite a few seasons of the show though.

I didn't watch Buffy until last year, but a couple of my friends had talked about Buffy's death (S5) in the past.

I knew it was somewhere in the series, but didn't know when it was actually going to happen, so it wasn't too bad for me.

Selig agrees: To be fair I think the "twist" in that film was blindingly obvious about 5 minutes in.
I agree, and I have actually worked out ALL the twists in Shylapoos films since, but I will never know if I would have gotten it - plus as I say, I'd been told for months by critics and friends alike that the twist was great and made the film - so to be told it ruined the film for me, and I think its one of the worst films I've ever seen because when the twist is known, its a pretty poor movie!

I can't BELIEVE I didn't find out about Buffy's (2nd) death. It just seems like the most unavoidable spoiler of the show... and I wasn't exactly staying completely away from Buffy related websites up until that point.

I was so thrown off watching Bargaining though... there was a second I believed that Buffy Bot might actually finish off the series. 😛

I always thought it would have been hilarious is they'd have kept just the bot for a few episodes to make people think Buffy wasn't coming back.

are you kidding? It's my favourite show!
The first time I saw Buffy, I had no idea it was Buffy. I was down at my friends apartment watching tv with his roomate. There was this STRANGE show on where there was this girl and a guy fighting... with swords... then there was this girl speaking this weird language in a hospital bed and this glowing orby thing and then WHAM this guy doesn't want to fight this girl anymore and he's all sad and confused and then this chick kisses him and I think everything is happily ever after and then BAM before you know what's going on this girl runs a sword through the guy who gets swallowed by a big rock and she's all crying about it.

So a few years later I'm watching Becoming Part II and I'm all "crap! NO NO NO!!! Angel's going to die!!! WHAAAA!!"

Do you have any IDEA how much effort it took to keep that away from you? Do you recall me threatening to literally kill you if you found out!?! Also, you forgot to mention the Illyria spoiler!

But seriously, it was really funny to watch you think that Buffy Bot was going to finish off the series!

I stupidly was looking up videos on youtube of buffy when i first started watching and then i saw Tara get shot!! Plus alot of things were spoilt as i started from season 6. For example i always just sort of thought of Dawn as always being there. I never got the full impact of her arrival!

Thankfully, I stayed away from anything Buffy related on the Internet while the show aired. However, I never got around to watching Angel until a few years after it ended. Basically, I had an on/off relationship with the show - there were moments when I was into it and others that I disliked it. But the one thing about the show I always adored was Fred. While watching S5, one of my friends flat out said "oh, she dies in in a few more episodes". And because of that I stopped watching until this year.

Fred Karma!! She was my favourite on Angel too!
as a late comer to Buffy, i was running through the seasons pretty quick (shockingly quick). Before long i had read a review stating that Buffy and Spike were a couple and although to most thats a fairly minor spoiler, when your in late episodes of S2 and you hear that...its quite a freaking shocker. I wish I could have not heard it just cause I think it would have been great to experience that ride by myself... Having said that, evertime I saw Spike, it meant I knew there was sooo much deeper and it helped to to have a much wider view of the Buffyverse and the 'goodness' in demons from a very early stage despite that never really being explored until S4 and beyond.

My worst ones were Angel losing his soul for the first time, Cordelia getting knocked up by Angel's son (and god, that put me off the show for years!), and finally Cordelia dying.
The first two happened back when I was like 13 and just started with Buffy. I had read some novels (mostly set in s3) and seen part of s6/7, so I was curious as to where Angel had gone. I started reading some transcripts (well, I guess I so it's really all my fault) and those happened to be the ones where Angel went seriously bad and kileld Jenny.
The one about Cordelia and Connor was around the same time. Back then those were the newest episodes, so because I had seen some s3 I just read some of them. Also, even back then I was digging the Angel/Cordy (though I also still liked Bangel....and felt a bit weird about Spuffy cos the first 'real' Spuffy scene I'd seen was the rape). But when I read those scripts about Connor an the mystical pregnancy and everything I was just so confused and kinda...well, shocked...I really think it's part of the reason why I put watching Angel off for so long.
The Cordy dying one happened maybe 3 years ago. Like I said, I already liked Cangel (but I had only seen a handful of Angel episodes). So I was on youtube and there was this clip from 'You're Welcome', at the end where she died. I watched it because of the kiss, and was quite shocked that this was the end of Cordy 🙁 Well, nevertheless, this was part of what sparkes my interest in Angel as a show: I wanted to see all the Cangel stuff. So I started watching the whole show.

I hope in the end watching Angel was a good experience for you!

OMG I love love love your banner.
Uh, Buffy related I'm pretty sure it was the Dark Willow arc. (Although, Tara's death wasn't spoiled for me.) Actually, about five minutes ago, I was reading the Buffy comics and Renee was on there. I got on the Buffy Wikia to see who she was and it said she died. I was a little pissed.

Reading through some of these comments, this thread needs more than just a spoiler mention. It needs a spolier tag and a reference not to come in here unless youve see all TV and all movies ever created!

Sixth sense ending
Angel's son and Cordy
Spike dying
Serenity deaths
Tara Dying
Spuffy Action

its like the ultimate thread on how to ruin someones day.

...For some reason I love it.

those are the 72% evil in you
Buffyverse wise, the worst was probably for Angel Season Four. I read that Cordelia turned evil in a topic title on here. It seriously diminished the unease I was supposed to feel through the whole build-up - I just kept thinking, "Oh, I hope that's cause she's evil." Although, I do actually really like Season 4, and maybe that's why. I'll never know for sure.

Anything, ever? That would be the video game Final Fantasy VII.
Yep. T'was Aerith. The biggie. A freind told me all about it before I was old enough to care, but I only got to the part where she dies years later. It sucked that I knew.

Spoiler free of all of buffy and angel. Thank you, thank you. *BOWS*

Then again, i am almost an original scooby (summer 1998 people!). So, it was really difficult for me to know what was going to happen before it did. (Also, i didn't really do forums until angel season 5, and even then I never looked at spoilers, so..)

*Warning* Spoilers inevitable! if you have not yet seen all of everything. 🙂

BUT I think why you love it is the same reason I do - the potential of ruining someones day with an ill placed spoiler.

I tell you what, if this was at the end of the TV season and a show ended with something that would be posted as a spoiler, or there was some BIG ass spoiler about who Twilight was, then you know someone like me would have posted that under the guise of 'someone told me that Twilight was really The Beckhams and that upset me'.

Its all good!

Well, Congrats! But if you're 18... wouldn't that have made you 7 or 8 years old in the summer of 98? I'm just confuzzled is all.
