Would Angel lose his soul if he had sex with someone he truly loves? I don't think so. The curse is that when he achieves perfect happiness, with no trouble on in his mind at all, his soul will be ripped from him and he will become Angelus.

I honestly think that if Angel slept with Buffy again after season 2 he wouldn't lose his soul. He only became Angelus because he wasn't aware of the fact that he could lose his soul. I imagine having that knowledge now would prevent him from achieving perfect happiness no matter how much he loved Buffy (for example) or how great the sex is.

Besides, after losing Doyle, Cordelia, Fred, and Wesley... I doubt Angel will ever be able to be perfectly happy ever again.

As Wesley once said, he'll just have to make do with acceptable happiness like everyone else.

I think you're forgetting when he lost his soul because of the dream in season 4. Apparently, he could reach a moment of bliss then.

It's an interesting take, I'll give you props for that!

As it may be a point of view that stands up to scrutiny, I'm looking forward to seeing what fellow boardians have to say.

Yeah, but in the dream a lot of improbable events had to occur for that to be a factor. His friendships had to be repaired, Connor had to come around, he had to be Indiana Jones, everyone had to do their part to stop the Beast, he got to get the girl he wanted (even if she treated him rather harshly lately), etc. These events all occurred because it was a dream. I don't really think perfect happiness is achievable for him in real life anymore.

I doubt Angel would gain perfect happiness again to lose his soul as he will always be aware of losing it which would prevent him from being perfectly happy, season 4 he was assisted into losing his soul that way.

I agree. Angel would have too much guilt in him to ever achieve that moment of pure happiness, whether it be Buffy or Cordy in the real world. Knowing that what he was doing could bring about Angelus would not be something he would feel nothing about. angel broods at the smallest of things and that is something huge 🙂

He might feel content but I dont think it would be a moment of pure happiness.

I initial thought is that neither of them would want to test that theory out, but who knows after s8.

Angel might experience a moment of pure happiness. All it takes is a split second and if he is with Buffy he probably wont be thinking about the people he has lost. I could see him being so happy that the two of them are together and that she trusts him enough that the happiness creeps in.

I believe if Angel ever did lose his soul after season 5 (of his show) the only person who could give him a true moment of happiness is Cordelia...because Cangel was real lol
