Would having Xander and Anya in Conversations make sense?

The original script of "Conversations with Dead People", was going to have The First appear to Xander and Anya as Hallie and Jessie.

Would it had made sense to have Xanya in the episode and The First haunting them as Hallie/Jesse?

I mean Hallie sure, but Jessie? Xander on-screen hadn't mention any flash back of his friendship with Jessie after he died in season 1. So why would The First wanna haunt Xander as Jesse?

I think it would have been cool if done right.

It did always seem weird that Xander never really remembered or talked about Jesse but the first could have used this to his advantage, played on Xander's guilt for forgetting about him etc.

Anya and Hallie would have been good too.

I loved CWDP but parts of it were insanely boring. Most of the Spike scenes and some of the Buffy stuff. Maybe replacing some of that with Xander and/or Anya would have helped. (e.g. seeing Spike kill someone at the end without all the of prelude shots throughout the episode might have been even more shocking).

Then again, too much good stuff crammed into the episode could have ruined it. Maybe it needs the boring parts to make the good parts stand out.

Exacly my thought. Think that could have been brilliant.

Personally I'm not so sure about Anya and Hallie though...

I don't think Jesse would have worked, it's one thing to play off Xander forgetting him, but the amount of Stories Willow and Xander tell of their childhood that he's not in, he was little more then cannon fodder then an actual friend.

I think Hallie would have been brilliant though, really play off Anyas humanness, would have made her death sting a little more if they'd done it right, like made her mourne for her friend be a bit more human, show a growth in her response to death then we'd seen since The Body.

I don't think featuring Anya would have worked. She talks to so many demons and stuff throughout the show, I don't think she would have been nearly as effected as the others if The First appeared to her.

I would have loved to see Xander talking to Jesse. That would have been amazing, since they NEVER. MENTIONED. HIM. AGAIN. :\

As a big Buffy fan, I would love to have seen an extended episode with Xander. I could really care less about Anya as a main character in S7 though. I think she would be out of place if she had a story in CwDP. Xander wouldn't be, because he's always been #3. Even if the First knew Xander didn't have any powers he'd still see him as a powerful ally to Buffy.

With that being said, I think the episode was perfect. Without Xander.

It would have been wonderful having Jesse in the episode taunting Xander about forgetting him. They seemed really close in the first two episode.

If they couldn't have Jesse, I'd have loved having Xander talk to FirstBuffy.

I would have enjoyed the first winding xander/anya up, but what would have been the point, they won't exactly threats to it, although neither was dawn, but she was a way to get to buffy.

Never actually noticed Xander and Anya aren't in this episode. I find this episode a little overrated and there are many bits which just feel rambly rather than solid writing. I think having less Andrew and Xander talking to Jessie may have been interesting, but a little random seeing as they never mention him.

What I'd prefer is to see both Xander and Anya be confronted with one of Anya's victims. This would take Anya's vengeance past seriously and also make Xander reevaluate his whole relationship with her - something I think would be interesting to see

Wow - that would have been really great to get to see 🙂
