that because of the mindwipe that Angel had WR&H place on the fang gang, thats why fred and wes started off slow? because their feelings for one another were screwed with thanks to the mindwipe?

I have read lots of posts from you other fresley shippers and I was wondering is that the general consensus? not only from fresley shippers but from non shippers as well

did the mindwipe erase certain aspects of the fang gang's memories from s3 and s4?

I didnt think this question belonged in the wes/fred thread because it touches on other aspects of the show, like wes and gunn's hostility towards another (like in s3 and s4)

but since my main focus was the slow start of wes/fred in s5 I had to know (especially since I just watched smile time again)
 
The mental magic that W&H work definitely created new memories in place of the old memories Angel's friends had. Their experiences were twisted and their perceptions distorted. Wesley at the beginning of season 5 was like Wesley on happy drugs and some of Gunn's insecurities at W&H likely stemmed from his incomplete memories. Fred didn't remember saving the world, and Wesley didn't remember the truth about his relationship with Lilah. Before he lost his memories he wanted to free her from W&H, afterward he no longer tried to do so. I think that W&H created new memories for Angel's group that would make them more malleable and willing to work within the firm's system. As for the Wesley and Fred question, I honestly think by the end of season 4 Wesley had realized how sick his obsession over Fred was and had come to realize that Lilah was the only person he had ever connected to on an intimate level. I honestly think had he kept his memories, Wesley would have never pursued Fred in season 5.

Good question...never thought of it...I don't know. It'd be nice to know what the real memories were replaced with...I'm not sure how to answer



Hitome: Wes wasn't obsessed with her,just in love with her...obsession is different (E.g, Angelus--->Drusilla//Spike--->Buffy). Wes didn't follow Fred everywhere or made robots of her,he just loved her.
 
For all we know, if they had the memories they might not have gotten together at all. Reason being that Wes didn't remember having taken Connor, nor did she remember him having done it. If they had the memories they may not have gotten together because their feelings may have been different.

Magui, I've got to disagree with you about that. He had sex with Lilah pretending she was Fred. So he's not Angelus material, Wesley can still be obsessed with Fred even if he doesn't (usually 🙂) act like a crazy stalker.
