I'm currently watching season four, and thinking about the arrival of Jasmine. She was going to bring world peace. This was about the same time that Buffy and the Scoobs were getting ready to seriously deal with the First rising to power.

Do you think that if Jasmine had been allowed to live, she could've stopped the First?

Jasmine would have definetly stopped the first, its pretty obvious afterall world peace is like evils worst nightmare, as we see from wolfram and harts reaction to jasmines death

Sure thing...but Evil would be still around right? It's not like world peace would stomp it out when the cult leader of leaders is like eating people. Cuz Evil is still evil right?

Wasn't one of the First Evil's ultimate goals to take over human bodies much as Jasmine did? This was it's plan to become corporeal, wasn't it? So what happens when the First Evil wants to take over, say, the President of the United States, and Jasmine wants him too. Who's got the most juice?

I cant really see that situation arising as i always got the impression that evil had to skip the scales between good and evil in order for the first to become corporeal, which isn't going to happen if we have worl;d peace

Nah, I don't think Jasmine would have been able to stop The First. Evil is still evil. If anything she would have probably helped The First. I think the whole Jasmine storyline was just sooo stupid...

I actually thought it was a really good storyline and really made ya think

Gotta agree with Hero, kinda bugged me the whole rotting flesh, and eating people. Not to mention she took on Cordy's shape and made her evil, and almost made me not like Cordy. *Shudders* Evil.

Jasmine rocked. Angel season four is, IMO, the best season out of ANY season there is in the entire Whedonverse. I did miss Cordy, but come on, it's extremely stupid to hate Cordy because she was POSESSED. Anyhoo...I do admit the rotting flesh part was kinda stupid, but other than that the whole thing rocked.

I don't think that anything could stop The First Evil, as in forever destroying it. If it is the ultimate evil, then somewhere in the universe there HAS to be an ultimate good that is just as powerful, because that's the way nature works. And if evil were destroyed, goodness would cease to exist too. You can't have good without evil, or pleasure without pain.

I think that if you compare relative army size and strength, Jasmine has the better cards. She has the potential to (through modern communication and mass-media) draft every single member of the human species into her army. Though humans are relatively weaker than Turok-Han or the well-trained Bringers, they do outnumber them by a helluva lot, from what we've seen. Plus, she'd have all the advances of modern military technology at her disposal. She could possibly simply nuke the Hellmouth. Of course, she does have a few nasty weakness the First could possibly exploit, but that would be very difficult. So, like I said, Jasmine definitely seem to have the better cards.
