If Spike and Faith properly met in S4, before Spike's crush on Buffy and after he got over Drusilla, do you think they would've ever hook up?

I don't know actually. I mean Faith obviously flirts with Angel and makes a crack at Buffy "boinking" the undead... but push come to shove I think she would hesitate to just hook up with a vampire. I think there are certain lines most Slayers just wouldn't cross or at the very least would have severe doubts about crossing (As for Buffy she has feelings for both Angel and Spike by the time she sleeps with them, she doesn't just see them as soulless creatures, she sees them as people because she already has a relationship to them). I guess it depends on how Faith and Spike met really...

And before anyone can point to hints of sexual deviations in her character I would add that just because Faith is depicted at being more sexually liberated shall we say it doesn't mean she would have sex with just anyone or be willing to cross any line. There's a reason why she's clearly surprised by Buffy having slept with Angel. I think Faith talks a big game but ultimately whether she would or wouldn't with Spike is entirely up to what kind of connection they would have had at that point.

Nope. Spike fell for Buffy because she was Buffy, not because she was another random slayer. I see no evidence that he would develop warm fuzzies for Faith just because she has superpowers too.

And Faith wouldn't fall in love with a vampire- she doesn't even risk falling in love with a human, her defences are too well primed for that sort of thing.
She might get turned on a lot by the whole danger aspect of the thing- like she did with Angelus- but only in a lust way, she doesn't risk her actual feelings. (I'm sure Faith falling in love with Buffy was almost like some horrible accident on her part- she couldn't cope with it so she self-destructed 😉)

Also, Faith has to mature a lot (or at least work very hard at it) before she could be in any sort of workable, healthy relationship with anybody- see S7 for that evidence- and its already been established that being in a relationship with a vampire is about as far from healthy as you can get.

And by the time Faith had matured she didn't even consider Spike enough to accept his offer of a casual hookup, and by then she hadn't had sex in a long time.

At first I said "Yes!" but really thinking about it, no, probably not. Maybe in S4 because she was a bit unhinged, so she might have hooked up with him in the sense of working with him to hurt Buffy. She catches on quickly that hes a vampire so he couldn't really pretend to be human. I think Faith just likes to tease Spike. Let's not forget that Spike slept with Anya. That could have been Faith in that situation. Once she meets Spike with a soul I think it crosses her ind in the basement scene. But once she finds out about him and Buffy she would never. She made out with Angel and slept with Riley, she's done with Buffys exes which I think is why she turns him down in the comics. Like Taake said she never thought about sleeping with a vampire before she found out about Buffy and Angel. And Angel has a soul and she still tries to kill him. Faith's views about demons are more black and white than Buffy's. So she's not going to sleep with soul less Spike most likely. I just enjoy their chemistry, it doesn't need to go all the way.

In Season 4, almost certainly not. Faith only teased him then because she was in Buffy's body, and, I think, was taking perverse pleasure in destroying Buffy's reputation. She was planning on leaving town in that body, and wanted everyone to remember Buffy the Slut after she was gone. (And I'm sure that Sarah had a ball playing her that way) I don't think that she would have ever staked him, but she would have made his life miserable

After Season 7, however, would have been an entirely different thing. Faith and Spike could have had a great friends with privileges type relationship.

sex yes (possible), anything even remotely more serious than that or beyond that, no.

As far as it pertains to most of her time on the shows Buffy and Angel, (especially early on as the OP question asks,) she never demonstrated a willingness or ability to hook up for a relationship or anything beyond just sex. She was too dysfunctional, plainly put. Not until the end of S7, where some scenes offer overtures, small suggestions that she could be ready for something like that. But without having read S8 yet (still in the mail!) I have no idea if those hints meant real change for her or not.
And before anyone can point to hints of sexual deviations in her character I would add that just because Faith is depicted at being more sexually liberated shall we say it doesn't mean she would have sex with just anyone or be willing to cross any line. So you think that Faith back then (early S4 after going bad/evil in S3) would have had a moral dilemma with sleeping with a vampire (just in principle I mean)? Or she wouldn't possibly have had sex with Spike because of her capricious and more or less indiscriminate whimsy and urges? She did that a lot. Or you don't think she wouldn't possibly have slept with Spike to prove something to herself or others for whatever her dysfunctional reasons and insecurities and issues she had at the time? As far as just hooking up for sex goes, I can see all of these possibilities as plausible hypotheticals.

But at the same time I am unclear whether people are speaking about just sex or hooking up for some relationship or something more than just sex, or if people are talking about both things in this thread or what. Just to be clear, anything beyond just meaningless sex between Spike and Faith I really could not see, not at all. Not S4, not S5,6 or 7.

Oh, hell yes - and for all the wrong reasons. Spike, in season 4, has all the emotional maturity of a feral cat, and so does Faith. At this stage both are a bit into the sub/dom brain set. Faith would get off on dominating a vampire, and Spike would get off on the life or death aspect of being with a slayer an unable to fight back. Plus Faith would have a pretty decent pain threshold. Neither one is really looking for love. I can see something like Wes and Lilah - hot sex, using each other, and some degree of a relationship developing. It's only in this season though - by the following year they've sort of passed each other by in too many ways.

sounds like good fanfic. lol
Good fanfic but at this point Spike hates Buffy never mind Faith. He wants to bite/kill/assault her not be her lover slave (that happens in S5+) so I can't see him letting himself be the 'bottom' in that sort of relationship.
I also agree with @Taake somewhat, Faith talks a good game but I honestly don't think she's as screwed up sexually as Buffy is in S6- and that's saying something.

Before S4/5 - no, because, despite how she's represented as being sexually experimental, as others have said, she was clearly surprised to hear about Buffy's relationship with Angel. Sleeping with a vampire is not something she would even entertain, not even with someone as relatively harmless as Spike. If it was even something she thought about, she could have done it in 'Who Are You?' when she was possessing Buffy. That would have been a much, much more effective way of getting back at Buffy.

After S7 - no, because I think she's too loyal to Buffy. She's changed a lot since she went to prison, grown, matured, learned to understand how to be and work along side Buffy. The only two people she trusts more in the world than Buffy is Angel and Giles. I think she would stick to that loyalty, even if she was attracted to Spike. Which we learned that she isn't.

In their scene together in the basement in Season 7, I have no doubt whatsoever that Faith was coming on to Spike, and, despite his feelings for Buffy, I honestly think that he was on the verge of responding when Buffy broke it up. After that, once Faith got the idea that there might be something going on between the two of them, she backed off. She'd already made a play for Angel in Season 3, and then used Riley the next year. She wouldn't want to do the same thing with Spike, just in case he and Buffy actually were an item.

I completely agree!

Spike wouldn't do anything either - he has far more invested than Faith does.
Honestly? Yeah, I think so. The two are clearly attracted to each other. Why not? They were both single after all.

I also agree with whiteavenger: I think that if Buffy hadn't walked in, Spike may have responded to Faith coming on to him.

I think Spike just likes the idea that another slayer is attracted to him, and he likes the sexual attention, since he hasn't been with Buffy lately. But he did turn down Anya's offers earlier in the season, so I think he would turn down Faith's if it got that far. He knows that it would hurt Buffy more than it did with the Anya thing. He just wants someone to flirt with. Now, if he wasn't all in love with Buffy and still had his soul, I'd say yes he probably would sleep with Faith.

I see vamps as having 3 main drive feed, fight, and..sex. So if Faith was interested, I suspect Spike would love to have some distraction. And I see Faith as a woman more than willing to claim and rejoice in her sexuality which does not make her screwed up.

But this is after she knows Buffy slept with Angel, and she really did try to seduce Angel. Vamps would no longer be a problem.

As for season 7, even if Faith was interested (and they were very clearly attracted to each other) it is Spike who has the loyalty to Buffy. He would not want to 'hurt the girl'.

But this is a bit like saying Buffy slept with Angel and Spike so now she's willing to sleep with ANY vampire, which is just not true. So no, I wouldn't say coming on to Angel indicates that "vamps would no longer be a problem"

And I see Faith as a woman more than willing to claim and rejoice in her sexuality which does not make her screwed up.

Sleeping with a vampire is still a major kink. Buffy slept with Angel because she loved him, and slept with Spike because...of a whole bunch of complex reasons- lust was a small part of it.
Faith liked to tease Spike but I doubt she would've gone through with it. For Faith, taking/making out with Angelus was about Buffy, not Angelus.
And to me vampire psychology towards humans boils down to kill/feed/rape- not sex. It's about power over/feeding off the weak, not lust.

But this is after she knows Buffy slept with Angel, and she really did try to seduce Angel. Vamps would no longer be a problem.

Seperate cases because Faith has changed now, she's reformed- she isn't so dark and kinky anymore. One vampire is seperate form the other.

The scene in the basement is Faith seeing the (seemingly) only unattatched male around after three long years of incarceration and then hitting on him. Then she moves on to Wood as soon as she see's him come along.

As for season 7, even if Faith was interested (and they were very clearly attracted to each other) it is Spike who has the loyalty to Buffy. He would not want to 'hurt the girl'.

We see Faith back off first when Buffy comes down the stairs, she isn't going to make a play for another boyfriend of Buffy's- therefore I give her the credit.
But I'm sure Spike would've done the same if Buffy hadn't interrupted. 😉

Faith was way kinky talking to Spike in the basement - whips and cheerleader uniforms and dressing up like a little girl. She also said that she would be the one on top. This was after she went to prison and reformed. The girl likes to experiment, and I can't see kink being a problem. Yes, Buffy and Angel slept together because they loved each other. I think both Spike and Faith would just do it for recreation - that's not to say it wouldn't get serious. I think they could be friends. As to vamp urges, the word I wanted to use was F**K. It definitely included rape in most cases, I would assume. But then I don't think gender was an issue. Raping a man would be ultimate power over him.

As for Faith going after Wood - she gave him his walking papers the next day. Granted, they did stay together, but this seems to be a 1st time. Back in season 3 she damn near raped Xander - some say that she did.

I don't think he would have gone for Faith - he was completely all about making Buffy succeed and survive. He wouldn't sleep with Faith because even if he and Buffy are no longer together, she would have one more thing tossed on her plate.

I still don't see Spike being up for being humped by a slayer (one he didn't even know) whilst he was chipped and I honestly think Faith wasn't attracted to Spike then, accept maybe by the power aspect- but that's a stretch.

Faith didn't rape Xander because there was no completion of the act. If she hadn't been interrupted? Perhaps but its more likely that Faith would've choked Xander into unconsciousness or (probably) killed him- just because there's a sexual element doesn't automatically make it rape.

Again, the only thing I see stopping Faith in S7 is the knowledge that Buffy is 'with' Spike- she wouldn't steal her boyfriend just to scratch a three year itch, she's reformed now. She's the one who pulls away from the bed when Buffy comes down the stairs- Spike just stays lounging there naked but for a bedsheet.

Faith had little regard for Wood, she saw him as a fling- we don't know why they stayed together for so long in between S7/8 or why they broke up, maybe the fact that Faith had never been in a long-term relationship before leant it some sort of novelty value for her- who knows. (Yeah, I'm not a fan of lazy pairings like this...)

"Spike just stays lounging there naked but for a bedsheet."

If I remember correctly he was wearing trousers.
