Would that ruin the couple?

Most of the people belive why Buffy/Angel relathionship is so strong and powerful, is because they will never be together. We all see he is love of her life, and she is love of his life, they are soulmates and bond between them will never die. The reason why Romeo and Juliet are oldest and world known love story is because they don't live happily ever after. If they did, the whole point would be lost, because that would be some kind of fairytale, not something that would happen in the real life. Buffy and Angel reunited hundred of times, they had a nice time, but in the end, someone left. The problem with all Buffy's boyfriends is that they leave in the light, but Angel is her shadow. People belive that happy ending will destroy every esence of the couple. BtVS is gone for 6 years now. I can hope with you guys that there will be something new, but I think there won't be. So, I think I would like to see them happy together forever, just because my heart can be in place. What do you think and what would you like to see?

Well, Romeo and Juliet is certainly not the oldest known love story (though perhaps you are right about it being one of the most known) - many believe it is a re-interpretation of Tristan and Isolde, a much older yet very thematically similar story of two doomed lovers. Check it out sometime. It's quite entertaining.

And I'm more likely to argue that Spike is her shadow - in the foily, literary sense of the word, anyway, which is usually how I approach things.

What would I like to see? Her with Spike, obviously. Yet, if Joss did decide to finally make a decision and have have her end up with Angel, I would accept it.
 
I don't think it would ruin them as a couple for them to be together, but that's probably because their 'doomed' love isn't what attracts me to them.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think I would actually want to see it, physically. Not extensively anyway. I don't know if this will make sense but I'd just like to KNOW they were together in the end. I wouldn't want to see any long drawn scenes of them setting up a lovely little home with some really hefty curtains (depending on whether Angel has received his reward of humanity). I could happily see them just walking off together, like Lucas and Peyton in One Tree Hill (which I'm not entirely happy about considering the show has continued without them) but if you've seen it you'll know what I mean.

I'd be more than happy just to know they found each other again. 🙂
 
Yeah I have seen it, I am watching OTH season 7 now, but I was always Brucas fan 🙂

And for me, they are happy together now. I don't see house with the pretty little garden either, I just see them happy 😀

I think that, in all of our Bangel, Spuffy, Cangel arguments and discussions, we've all missed the simple fact that Buffy and Angel DID have a happy ending. They both realized and accepted the fact that their fates have diverged. Each is now clearly on their own path, neither is the other's shadow, side kick, or second in command. Each is their own person, independent of the other. That doesn't mean that they love each other any less, and it doesn't preclude either or both loving someone else, any more that it completely rules out the possibility that someday they may be reunited and that their "moment" of perfect happiness might actually become a lifetime shared together. In the meantime, however, both Buffy and Angel are as happy as warriors can be when fighting in a war, because they have hope for a better future and even the possibility that it might be a future that they can share.

(How's that for a devout Spuffy?)

Yeah Flannen it's Brucas for me, I never really liked Peyton that much 😀

Buffy and Angel as characters got a happy ending, but as a couple no. My heart broke when I saw in "Forever" how she misses him. In "Selfless" my hope was retuned and then in "Chosen" I was fully happy 😀
 
Well, the whole point of Buffy/Angel was that their relationship was to forever be doomed. I mean, Joss has said that he created it knowing it would never work out, and during the first season, it was incredibly surprising that Buffy would fall into love with a vampire.

It's eternal in the sense that everyone's true love is eternal. What I meant by "doomed" was that it would never work out as a normal relationship. (As normal as you can get with them, anyway...)
 
Personally, I don't take what Joss says with much more than a pinch of salt. Mainly because the guy is genius enough to know how to keep the fans interested and that is to say pretty much the same things about each 'ship in order to keep this kind of debate going, not necessarily because I don't think he KNOWS but because he isn't going to tell the fans the 'answer'. At the moment he's not prepared to let anyone see which side he falls on...yet.

Being eternal makes their love idealized, not necessarily realized. They can love each other forever, above and beyond anyone who either will ever love in the future, and still never really be "together" again. That's the "Romeo and Juliette" aspect of their relationship.
 
Well that is the beauty of their love. Every great love is difficult. And I don't know why everyone see Romeo & Juliet as tragic couple. Is better this way now, I belive they are happy together. Buffy and Angel never got that. They didn't got an happy ending because they never ended.

Because a love ending in death is better than a love thriving...?
 
No, I didn't say that. Just in the real world, they could never be happy. But that is Romeo and Juliet, and ordinary boy and girl, Buffy and Angel are different story.
 
I'd have to argue that Romeo and Juliet aren't exactly normal boy and girl. And that's the reason why Angel and Buffy are often 'compared' to them. The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is that they were from two warring families who despised each other and NEVER would have allowed them to be together. They were two total opposites, almost on two different sides. Just like Buffy and Angel were. A Slayer and a vampire falling in love is as shocking as a Montague and a Capulet falling in love. And don't forget that just like Buffy didn't know Angel was a vampire at first, Juliet didn't know Romeo was a Montague at first either. The two different families were the darkness and the immortality that posed as the obstacles for Angel and Buffy. They're not that different.

Still, I don't think they're doomed 😉 It's just I can't deny the similarities!
 
Buffy and Angel's love is eternal...in my mind it is the essence of true devotion and love,it is a hymn to love!I know that because of the curse it couldn't COMPLETELY work out but i could notice that Angel and Buffy can hardly hold their hands from each other whenever they are together...a vampire slayer and a vampire with a soul in love with each other...it's ironic really but sooo truly romantic!
I don't know what Joss' plans are but i would love to see Buffy&Angel end up together for good sometime in the future...i don't know if they wanna show them in a big house,Angel as human and lots of children running around(that would be like a happy advertisement 🙂 ), or if they are both gonna give a final fight together sometime,die and end up together in Heaven...i really have no idea how it's gonna happen but i would love to see them together for good...they deserve it!
 
You know I always belived in fairytales. I grew up with them. But I don't see Buffy loosing her stake on the graveyard and Angel finding it and then returning it to her. I don't see cute little blonde kids with dark brown eyes. But I see them happy. And when someone says Buffy and Angel I remember all the things they had. I remember him leaving, but I created this world where he came back, and they are happy together. Because I truly belive she was happiest when she was with him 🙂
