Would Cordelia giving birth to Jasmine have bothered you as much if Groo had been the father and not Conner? Most people cite the ick factor of Conner/Cordelia as being the reason they hate that storyline. I like Groo ok but he was a little dull and I was trying to think of other ways the writers could have accomplished the Cordelia being evil while pregnant storyline.

Yes. Cordelia sleeping with Connor certainly was icky, but that's only like 10% of the reason I hate the Jasmine storyline, lol.

I think it is that mainly for me. But Groo would have been easier to deal with for me. It is hard for me to be mad at Groo because he can be a little out there at times.
I don't know I think her being with Connor and the scene with Angel at the end and the next episode was very good because you saw such great emotion but it is still a little disturbing considering just a while earlier she was feeding him a bottle.

I do dislike the Connor/Cordy thing a lot but honestly even just replacing Connor with Groo I would have had problems with it because I think it was written very poorly.
Cordy going evil would have been one thing, but I wish they would have done it better.

Sleeping with Connor is just the tip of the barrel, really. I think that the writers could have done a better job and given Cordelia a better storyline and send off if they really wanted to and tried. I just think it sucks that they eventually wound up killing Cordelia off because she was such a central role and somebody who had been there ever since Sunnydale. I was sad to see her go and wish she hadn't.

No Groo being the father wouldn't have changed my opinion. The way Jasmine came about was just stupid to me. Her coming into that season tarnished what before then was a very strong season. I thought the storyline was very poor, Connor being the father wasn't what i didn't like although that was ridiculous aswell. I don't question Joss much but the writing in that season was rather strange, i guess Charisma being pregnant forced them to rethink things too quickly and as a result it harmed the show.

I definitely could have dealt with Cordelia and Groo sleeping together WAY more than Cordelia and Connor. That was just so disgusting to me, especially since she had been like his mother when he was a baby. *shudder*

As you all know, I'm a Groo hater, but I would rather have him be the father of Cordy's baby than Connor because Cordy/Connor is one of the main reasons why I hated the Jasmine storyline. But I think I'd still hate it but just not as much because the storyline was written badly and Cordy didn't have to have sex to get pregnant, a spell could have got her pregnant and it would be the best thing to do in my opinion.

It would've still bothered me the same. Yes Cordelia did change Connor's diapers but she wasn't his actual mother, so it kinda bothers me but not as much as some people. I hate Groo because everytime he comes in he makes Angel's life awful. Plus I'm a big Coyle fan, I don't want Cordelia with anyone else so it's gonna bother me no matter who she's with unless it's with Doyle, or maybe Xander.

Doyle karma!
My problems with the Jasmine storyline actually have nothing to do with Connor and everything to do with poor writing and (probable) retcons, so it wouldn't really have made any difference to me.

I always thought about who could be in Connor's place about Cordy getting pregnant. And wow, I never thought of Groo!

I would definitely feel less icky if it was Groo. But that's the only good thing because it wouldn't make much sense. Groo wouldn't be a part of "the great plan" that happened since Darla's pregnancy. And the last scene in Apocalypse, Nowish wouldn't be as emotional. Angel wouldn't hurt as much because Cordy was with Groo in S3 before. Seeing his own son with Cordy is one of the most painful thing for him.

If just anyone could have been the father of the vessel, then Jasmine wouldn't have needed to go through so much trouble prearranging all these events in Angel's life to ensure Connor's conception. Groo would have been damn easy actually. They, Groo and Cordy, were already com-shuking like bunnies before Jasmine and Skip's interference....

Cordelia getting pregnant AGAIN....bor-ing. Why did she have to sleep with anyone to become preganant?? Why not just make it a magical enchantment?

Personally while I would have loved to see it be ANYONE but Conner get Cordy pregnant, it would have been very difficult to write the season with a different sire for Jasmine, mainly because it was Cordy's manipulation of Conner that made it so easy for her to hide what was happening. Although I really felt it was a poorly written storyline, much of it did hang on her concealing who she really was and what she really was up to by emotionally manipulating Conner (who was very immature and not used to interpersonal relationships). Still, that being said, Groo was too to a degree....and much less icky. I guess it would be a big leap of faith though to think Groo was THAT clueless (especially when it really got down to it). I don't think Groo would have stood by while Cordelia ordered him to sacrifice a virgin in order to jumpstart Jasmine's birth.

Crappy season though

My biggest problem with the story was that we didn't even get to see the Cordelia we knew that whole season (except for maybe a bit in Spin the Bottle). So I doubt Groo being the dad would have made much of a difference with me. Well, it might have, depending on what they did with Groo after they slept together.
