Would 'The Wish' have actually happened?

Do you think the the events of the wish are what would have happened if Buffy had never come to Sunnydale.

I was just watching the ep, and was thinking about The Master, He seemed like a very old school vampire, not really the type to have a plant that removes the blood from humans, that seems very hi-tech for him?

Also Since cordy wished the verse into existance, she was moved into it with no memory of herself in that alt-reality. But it's most likely she would have been dead aswell, concidering how Jesse wanted to tuen her in season 1.

And on a total side note, but in the scene where we get to see the bronze or the first time in the alt-reality, we see the out side of the Bronze and it zooms in towards the door, but it goes past a vampire feeding on a girl, is that girl Faith? It looks really like her?

for that last paragraph, i'm pretty sure it is faith. if not it's her twin.

i mostly agree with the rest of it too.. cordy would have most likely been a vamp to begin with, and buffy would have been called there eventually because of the master. probably even sooner than when cordelia was talking to it about giles. how could they have not tried to find the slayer that whole time all that was happening?

No I don't think it's faith. Faith's only reason for going to sunnydale in the first place was because of her calling. But hey, I could be wrong.

Hasn't it been clarified that it wasn't Faith? Anyway...

I think that Cordelia would basically be dead. Giles definately would not be there, considering he only went to Sunnydale to meet up with Buffy, right?

I think I'm remembering wrong but didn't Wishverse Buffy make a reference to being dead? I can't remember...

Well, I think originally Giles would've gone to Sunnydale, because originally Buffy was supposed to be there. Joyce apparantly made an last-second decision and moved to Cleveland instead.

Jess might not have been turn in the alternate world, like he was in WTTHM and Harvest. That's why Cordelia was still there.

And I do not believe that girl is Faith. Faith would have no reason to be in Suunydale. She only became a slayer and ran away after her watcher was killed, and that was only because Buffy had died and then Kendra had died. WIthout Buffy dying, kendra would've never been called and neither would have Faith. So, she probably wouldn't have shown up in Sunnydale.

Fans of the episode have often mistaken the girl being bitten by the vampire outside The Bronze for Faith, but this is not the case.

Both Giles and Angel went to Sunnydale as Buffy was supposed to go there. I'm kinda surprised though...I would have thought the council would still assign Giles as her watcher and relocated him...but then again, I have no idea how the council thing works.

But like since this isn't an actual continuation of Buffy not comeing to Sunnydale, it was just moveing Cordy into a created Alt Reality, so it may just have brought aith over too, it really does loo like her!

If it isn't an actual continuation, then how does Anya decide what it will be like? I get the impression that she has unlimited power to do almost anything, albeit constrained by the necessity of a wish, but creating a new reality? I can't see that happening, especially considering Anya seems surprised about how "good" the new reality is. It seems to me te only way that she would be surprised would be if it actualy was just as the Wish dictated, only with a slight twist to allow Cordelia to "enjoy" the result.

Also... i don't think it looks particularly like Faith, but I am purely going from the screencap. I might have a proper look on the DVD later.


Taking it from another angle, that prophecy said that the slayer must die before the Master can rise. Did it say she had to be killed by the Master? If not, she could have died in a similar way in the Alt. universe, and so if Kendra also died Faith could have been called and sent to Sunnydale. That's still full of holes though, she had no real reason to be there....

other things seems like they wouldn't have happened that did in 'the wish.' for instance, to me it seems like xander and willow wouldn't really have been vamped. i mean, if no buffy, xander probably would have died from praying mantus lady, and will would have become robby the robot's plaything, or killed at some other point in time.

it's understandable how buffy could have relocated to cleveland instead. i mean cordy's wish was for her to never have come to sunnydale, so what other mystical energy could have pulled her than the other hellmouth in cleveland? i just like to think anya created the world in which she thought it should be created, not really caring much about details.

willow and jesse would have died way back in "Welcome to the Hellmouth" when they were taken by Darla and the other vamp. Actually, it was Buffy who suggested Willow to be more..for lack of a better word, social..which led to her talking to the male vamp, so maybe it would have just been Jesse who died. But the Master would have risen in "The Harvest", which would make since that Xander and Willow could have been turned. And Sunnydale would have just went to hell from there..

If Faith were in The Wish, Eliza would have been credited with such toward the beginning of the episode, after the main-credits.
