I have a little bit of insider knowledge about Xander's job. I run the payroll for a construction company. Now obviously I'm in a different country and the market changes but you can be sure that he's taking home a decent wage. We're talking £25-30k per year before tax at the entry level for carpenters. Moving on towards £40k once you're more established and then once you're supervising or a foreman you can get £50k+.

So for his age and by the description of his job I would definitely say he's doing well for himself but obviously he's not some kind of millionaire either.

That's exactly what I'm saying, and I'm not trying to belittle anyone who works in construction (a large percent of my family does). My whole point was that Cordelia would not find it impressive. Yes, he has a good job, but that's not what impresses Cordelia.

Yeah, and I bet Cordy kept forgetting Willow became gay most of the time after the phone call.
She can be hardly impressed, scared or bluffed. She is not a sniveling, whiny, little cry-Buffy!

Yeah, well maybe it was Wesley who forgot about Willow being gay. Could happen.

Also Cordelia got over being impressed by what people did for a living in S1 of Angel. I think she would be pleased for Xander that he succeeded, but not exactly impressed/wowed by his position.
