In "Hole In The World," (I think) when Angel asked Giles to send a message to Willow requesting help for Fred, Giles refused (which dropped him down yet one more level on my "no longer either liking or trusting Giles" scale) so Willow never knew about their problem. My question is, do you think that Willow would have helped if she knew about the problem?

Of course, she would help her. She has had a friendship with Fred. I always believe Willow and Fred had been talking on the phone since they met in There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb. That's why Fred was the one who asked Willow to help restore Angel's soul in Orpheus. 🙂

Of course, she would have. She and Fred have been friends since Willow restored Angelus' soul and at least once it has been mentioned that they stayed in contact. Plus, Willow is a kind, helpful person so she probably would've helped anybody if asked.

I agree; I definitely think Willow would have come to help them. She might not have succeeded, but she would have tried if she had known.

Lmao at BEG's rep :D
In case Angel had asked, I think she would have went. I hope so. She might have been careful, since Giles' might have filled her in on W&H and the seior partners powers, but unless Andrew lied about what went on when he was there, not all scoobies could mistrust Angel, would they?

So I think Willow would have gone. Specially if Angel had mentioned it was Fred that needed help. It's understandable if Giles is giving the cold shoulder(understandable, but not okay), since he never was close to Angel, but unless you count Buffy, Willow was the closest to Angel of the scoobies. I mean she was just there, in town, saving him a few months ago, so I think she think she would have trusted him. Too bad she never got the message(presumably).

I definitely think she would have come, that's the kind of person Willow is. Fred was an innocent so to speak, she would have wanted to help save her life or soul.

I was thinking about this thread a little earlier. I wonder what Willow's reaction would have been like to finding out about Fred if Giles bothered to tell her.

Actually, Giles didn't refuse. He'd said that Willow wasn't available and he was right, according to S8.

I don't like Willow but there is no doubt in my mind that if she knew about it she would have been there in and instant.

there are people who DON'T like willow? why dont you?!!
Willow, with exception of crazy addict evil persona in season 6, is just the helper of helpers. If someone's upset or in pain or whatever she wants to help. So I think even if she had every last bit of knowledge about Angel working with W&H she would still go and help, because regardless, Fred was an innocent and a friend in need.

But actually, what exactly did Angel expect Willow to do? Maybe I missed something or I've forgotten it but I don't really know how Willow could have helped or done anything to stop it.

IIRC, he was hoping that Willow could draw Illyria out and bring Fred back without killing thousands. He was sure there would be some sort of loophole.

I don't think he knew exactly what Willow could do but more hoping she could do something.

Yeah, Willow was the one who had restored Angel's soul, not once, but twice. His thinking almost certainly was that she would be able to do something just as miraculous fir Fred.

Ah thanks guys. So basically it was more of a desperate plea for help rather than specific request of 'she will be able to do this and then off we go through the celebratory daisies'. Gotcha. ;-)

I know this is off topic, but I always found it strange that Wolfram and Hart was never mentioned on Buffy. With them being a huge part of the supernatural world and everything.

It's not so strange. AtS, although taking place in the same universe as BtVS, had a entirely different storyline. Yes, characters did cross-over, but AtS basically stuck to it's own plot. For instance, there was an apocalypse in the show that wasn't even on Buffy's radar, so it obviously never reached Sunny D. The Scoobies never knew about Jasmine for instance, and obviously were not affected.

Anyhow, in response to white avengers question; Yes. I believe Willow would have come. After all, as it was pointed out, Willow did come to help restore Angel's soul.

- why wasn't Willow available to help? I had always assumed Giles made the "executive" decision to not tell Willow because he didn't trust Team Angel after the joined forces with W&H.

I don't know whether that was explained in that episode or in S8 so spoiler tags just to be sure:
It was stated she was on another mystical plane. (Probably busy with snake lady, me thinks.)

I would be okay with the whole seperate storyline thing if it hadn't been Wolfram and Hart's amulet that sealed the hellmouth. They are never mentioned or referred to on Buffy but then they swoop in with an amulet that will save the day? The amulet should have been found another way. That always made me feel cheated.

Also, I always thought that Sunnydale didn't know about Jasmine because they were dealing with their own apocalypse. Nobody really had time to watch TV or listen to the radio because they were too busy fleeing town like bats outta hell. In The Scoobies' case, they were too busy coming up with a master plan to defeat The Taunter.

The only reason for W&H's involvement and the amulet itself was to provide a more or less logical reason for Angel to make an appearence in Sunnydale.
We would of seen Willow separating Fred from Illyria in S6 if we had it I reckon. Willow so would help out Fred out, love there lil friendship.
