Would you had joined Holtz and Justine's vampire slaying gang?

Depends if I'd had a loved one killed by a vampire or not. If I were personally effected by tragedy then- naturally- I'd gravitate towards revenge/payback and Holtz's group. Also its probably easier to join- low standards.
But if I was 'fighting the good fight' just because then AI all the way! Much more stable group. 🙂

I'm not really one to fight someone else's battle, and it was painfully obvious that Holtz was out for revenge; so no I don't think I would have joined their group.

It's true, Holtz was out for, and even obsessed with, revenge for what vampires, Angelus in particular, had done to him personally, but he was also, probably for that exact reason, a very inspiring leader. In fact, it was probably even part of his mission statement, barring the obsessed part, that got him most of his followers. The people who fought for him honestly thought that they were heroes, doing the world a favor, and, for the most part, they actually were. Where the problem comes in is that they had no idea about the difference between Angelus and Angel, and didn't know that the Angel Investigations team was actually working toward the same goal that they were.
So, yes, if I were so inclined as to want to be a vampire hunter, and heard Holtz's story, without knowing anything but his version of things, I would have joined his team.

Actually, Gunn's old gang would be more my style.
I'd like to think I'd distance myself from it once they took to "exterminating all demons," but in all honesty, if I'd been fighting even demons for years, I'd be exhausted and finding it futile, so a charismatic leader could--in those circumstances (placing myself in that sitch rather than seeing it from my own personal perspective)--have convinced me that a good defense was a good offense (even "kill them all, let God figure them out"), with a hope that one day the monsters would be gone. Of course all that fighting would've dehumanized me, or more precisely, dehumanized all demonkind, even the good demons unless I had good experiences with them as well. I think what they did in Caritas was reprehensible (and makes me think of the warning about not letting yourself become a monster yourself when you go out to fight monsters), but thinking of it from their perspective, it makes sense that it would be easy for them to sink that low while fighting the good fight.

Hell no! I don't like Holtz and I hated Justine. I'd have joined Angel! Lol. Even if I didn't know who Angel was and just heard Holtz story I still wouldn't have joined. It's not my fight, I still hate Justine and didn't like Holtz style.

Pinning Justine's hand to the table with a dagger is the kind of thing that would have prompted me to think Holtz is completely insane. Even if I had similar goals, I would have pulled out the knife and walked away, after stabbing Holtz with the knife if necessary.
What kind of a pension plan do you get when you are employed by Angel Investigations? Oh wait, no one there needs a pension plan because no one survives being employed by Angel Investigations! Doyle died a hero's death. Gunn was sired. Cordelia was possessed and destroyed. Wesley was killed. Fred was taken over by Illyria. I might have been tempted to join at one time, but knowing the results, Angel Investigations was a place where everyone went down with the ship except the captain. Those who were with Wolfram & Hart during Angel's reign fared better, but their souls were damned anyway.
