Would you have been sad for Cordy?

I wouldn't have. I would've thrown it in her face! (This of course, is referring to her dad's tax thing, not her impalement...) I mean, how f'd up can you be to make fun of Buffy not being able to have a future? Seriously, why would you do that?

btw, she has every right to yell at Xander. 🙂 (I <3 Xandelia!)

It was cute when Xander bought Cordy the Prom dress, he must have felt sorry for her.

I felt my heart completely melt when Xander bought the dress for Cordy... How sweet was that? He didn't want her to be humiliated and that was such an awesome thing for him to do for her. 🙂

I liked Xander and Cordelia, but personally I was always rooting for Cordesley. 😉

You know for some-one who gave the appearance of not having two nickels to rub together. How could he afford to pay of a dress?, and I bet it wasn't a cheap one.

For some reason I always loved Cordelia, even though she was often a self-absorbed ass a lot of the times. But hey, she was clever and funny...and watching her character's arc from Buffy to Angel was incredible...she grew into an amazing woman. But if I was Xander, yes I would have felt sorry for her even if she didn't deserve to be felt sorry for, and he gets some cool points for buying the dress for her. (I later grow to hate Xander in seasons 6-7 though).

OMG why would you hate Xander?! HOW can you hate Xander in s6-7?! LOL
Of course I felt sorry for her! Because of that she couldn't go to college.
But in the end everything turned out alright for her, that's why she went to LA instead and joined AI 🙂

I would have felt sorry for her I think, but I wouldn't call getting mind splittling visions, heart break, possession and death alright though lol

Gah! It might be an idea to mark Late Angel spoilers in an Early Buffy thread!
I would have I mean I know she was a bit of a cow but I don't think anyone should have gone through what she went through. The scoobies weren't the type of people deep down really to have been mean to her and I think Xander was a real gentleman buying her the prom dress. At least she got one perfect evening after a really crap month or so.

Also at the same time what happened helped her grow and become a stronger person in who she was on Angel I think it helped her when she got the visions. She whined about it like most people would have but not like her old Cordy self. Im not sure if I've just contradicted myself or what now lmao! ::huh1::

If I were Xander, I'd probably throw it in her face for all the times she had mocked my lower class family. I'd have said, "Payback's a bitch." Or "Look at how karma goes." Now you're poor and I've got the money I saved for my road trip... which I'm gonna spend some of on your dress because I still care about you, damnit!!! 😀

It's actually amazing of Xander to keep her family problems a secret after Cordelia told everybody about Xander's drunken family after he trusted her not to tell anyone. Though I can understand why she did it... after all, he cheated on her. Still, I'd have done something else to hurt Xander. I just hate breaking promises to secrets, especially big ones like Xander's homelife which he had hid from WILLOW. That's huge.

(I later grow to hate Xander in seasons 6-7 though).

I understand hating him in S6, but S7? Seriously? I thought he was the most mature one among them all in S7 🙂

I'm surprised Xander DIDN'T take the opportunity to throw it back in her face, since he wasn't exactly known to "take the high road"...but he did, which was a nice change.

Plus, Xander probably knew that even with amazing ammo like that, Cordelia would still crush him in a mud-slinging match.

Xander had a weak spot for Cordelia so I wasnt that surprised that he took the higher ground.

Was I said for her becoming poor? Kind of but not really. Sure they made her slightly more fashionable then the others but they never really played up her wealth.

I would have (and did, while watching!) feel bad for her.
If this had happened to S1 Cordelia, I would have laughed. But I loved S2 and S3 Cordelia. Sure, she was still kinda mean, but she had this endearing, sweet side of her, too. Whatever snobbery or meanness she had certainly didn't merit her losing all her possessions and not being able to go to any of the good colleges that accepted her.

I felt bad for her. I was glad that Xander paid for her dress. It was a nice ending to their relationship.

Mocking Buffy for not being able to have a future was out of line. She had saved Cordelia's life and even that wasn't good enough for her.

Couldn't agree more on that, I think Cordy mocking Buffy was just her way of not letting anyone in after what Xander did to her.
Cordy HAD to mock Buffy's future...she has a daily quota she's gotta make, people! Come on!

It was just uncalled for. I understand Cordy making fun of them being 'loser' or whatever she says, but making fun of the fact that Buffy was going to have to stay in Sunnydale risking her life was out of order imo.

Meh, I think it was just a typical Cordelia thing to say. And when you think about the circumstances...at the time she probably felt she didn't have much of a future either, and just wanted to drag someone else down with her.
