Would you have watched Buffy in 1997 (Original Promo)

You know what, I really would have watched it. The voice over fella I could have done withouth but I definitely would have tuned in having seen this promo.

Yeah, because back then the image of a pretty girl kicking @$$ would've totally swayed my post-adolescent mind to watch over and over again. 😀

Actually, I think no. I like the beginning of the trailer, it's all mysteries and stuff, but then after some time it's jsut so..bleh, you know? No comedy, no real mystery, and I'm not really action-movie kind of girl, so just fighting doesn't impress me too much.
On the other hand I have to say that the DVD trailers for each season kick ass. Usually when I'mwatching a disc with them on it, I always watch all the Buffy/Angel trailers and they really make me want to rewatch everything again.

yea I'd say for getting an audience, this is actually a really good promo for '97. The trouble is I think it attracts the wrong audience. This appeals to an older male audience i think and there is way to much jump cuts/action that just makes it different from the actual series. Its like an editor just quickly scanned through the season to find the best/cool looking shots and pieced them together instead of showing Buffy the Vampire Slayer (ie. Comedy... Horror... Action... and The, cause you always gotta have a The). I can imagine seeing that promo, watching the show and going, "huh, good, but not what i expected"

I don't think i would the beginning looked really good but the middle was just so..blah. I would ahev watched a few episodes if nothing else was on,them i probably would have gotten in to it 🙂

Oh, I remember this. I think I'd be curious enough to watch it. But the main reason I wouldn't have watched it, is Buffy's hair, sorry but it was really terrible.

Well to be honest this trailer intrigued me back when Buffy first aired, but it was the description in the TV guide that really made me and Mom go 'oooooh' and watch it, haha. But I did like the trailer; it just wasn't as hooky as it could have been. I think it is the voiceover guy that can put you off, it's like when they used to have someone else do the 'In every generation' at the beginning of each episode before Tony Head started doing it. Whenever I hear that I always think that could put off a first time watcher, making them deem the show cheesy.

I didn't watch Buffy in 1997 because I thought, "it's gonna be like that dumb movie."

So I was late to the party. And I regret it.

That's why I didn't watch it either, I really didn't like the movie. Then...I got the idea it was a teeny bopper show and just never bothered to turn it on. My loss.
I wasn't even two by the time Buffy came out, that answer your question? 😉
But if I'd been a bit older, still probably not. I was about seven or eight by the time I stopped being girly and scared of everything. If it had come out then, I would have watched it.
But, the important thing is that i love it now. 😛
If I'd have been the age I am now back then, I would have watched it for sure.

Yeah, i would have. I was actually a big fan of the movie, back when it first came out. I think i was 9. Me and my family used to watch it all the time. Rented it out every few months from the video store on VHS. I always liked the dialogue. " Get out of my facial ". Time passed, and then i seen some clips for the show. "Oh, yeah, that will be good. But who's the new girl". Looking back, and seeing it again recently, of course the movie was a hot mess, but still has it charms, and it was the reason i did watch the show. Gellar kicks Swanson's ass.

lol. This was fun. I might have watched it anyway. In that time my options for watching tv was limited as it was so I´m sure I´d given it a try and been completely surprised about how the show really is. Not sure if that had put me off or not but seeing something you thought would be completely different can make you so disappointed that you don´t see it for what it really is (in which case great).

On the other hand I have to say that the DVD trailers for each season kick ass.
You´re talking about the trailers for the dvd/video box sets or the promos that are on the dvd´s? I´m good at mixing things together so I don´t know wich ones I mean or if it´s even both but I know that I´ve been disappointed with many of them and wondered if I´d watched the show as much as I did if I based my viewings on them.

If I were my age back then I wouldn't have watched it, because right now, I'm not at all into those kinds of shows (apart from Buffy, obviously). If I were a bit younger, though, I certainly would have wanted to see it. The voice over guy is annoying, but that's not what the trailer is about, and it looks quite flashy and hooky and everything for the time. And it makes it look like something I would have wanted to watch when I was, like 14-16 years old 😉

I did watch it back in 1997.... and this promo reaaaally flashed me back lol. after my brother and i saw it, we were like, yeah, we're in. so it won us over.

If I had seen this trailer back when it first aired, I'm not sure whether I'd have watched the show or not. The voice-over dude is really annoying, and made me want to turn it off straight away but ignoring that minor detail I think for the time it was an ok trailer. I'm in two minds whether or not I would have tuned in, if I'm perfectly honest I probably wouldn't - but then, this is 2009 and that was 1997 so there isn't any way I could give a proper answer 🙂

would've worked for me...in fact I'm wondering why I didn't see the promo...maybe I wasn't watching much fox back then? And now, seeing the promo, I think it would be cool if someone did another slayer show...about one of those old timey slayers. could be way fun.

I wanna know how they did it in hoop skirts, etc.!

Little Vamp on the Prarie...heh heh heh

Hell no. If I would have seen that, I would have had no interested and probably shrug it off as a lame cheesy WB show. But I finally got into Buffy around Season 4-5. Just from the beginning seasons, I probably wouldn't have.

YAY! Love original promos *_*

Yeah.. it´s crappy.. the b&w beginning is too much for me xD But I´d watch, has a blonde high school girl kicking ass and a very pretty vampire looking like he is going to be at the show for a while 😀
