Would You Hire An Active?

A few people have posed questions about certain missions on the show and asked why would you not get the real deal instead of an active?

That got me wondering, if you had the money and knew of the Dollhouse, would you hire an active? and what would you hire them for (keep it clean!).

Would the moral ramifications effect your choice?

Nah.. It's kinda messed up. I mean - I know why some people would say yes.. And if the actives were 100% guaranteed to have volunteered for such a thing, I would feel a little less weird about it.. Still wouldn't hire an active though. I prefer reality.. No matter how harsh it may be. As awesome as the thought of the actives may be.. At the end of the day they aren't real. And the disappointment of that is more painful than dealing with the harshness of reality.

I dunno I might do it depends on what I wanted the active for! lol I'd hire on say if I wanted a nurse or something to look after a sick relative, something that wouldn't involve guns or fighting. I'd feel pretty safe if that's all I'd hired them for, and I don't think I'd be that worried about morals since they'd (hopefully!) forget everything about the assignment.

I'm not sure. I wouldn't hire them for anything 'personal' that, when you think about it, no normal person would do (if they did people wouldn't have to hire dolls), but if it's a real job they are supposed to do, something you would usually hire someone for. This way you really make sure you get the best.
And well, about the morals, don't they tell their costumers the dolls are there volunteerly? So if I believed that, I really wouldn't feel bad for hiring them for something 'normal' (like that midwife echo was once).

I can't think of anything that I would personally ever need an Active for, but on the other hand, I could see the advantage of having a short term employee with super specialized skills and absolute loyalty for a job that, once completed, could never be discussed again. I wouldn't hire one to commit a crime or to do anything that I believed to be immoral.

Having finally been able to see the latest episode, I would like to change my answer. If I were 30 years old again (well, it's a fantasy, right?) I would absolutely love to spar with Echo just once. Even with pads and rules, and all the bruises, that would be worth the million dollars.

And fill in for me at work so I can take a vacation.
