There are people I have heard of who lived together happily for a long time, decided to get married, started fighting immediately, got divorced and resumed living together happily. Some people do not like the ties that bind (and gag). Wedding or no wedding, things will be fine unless Joss takes an interest. Then all bets are off.

How about we get a restining order out against Joss.
That way Spike & Buffy can get married in peace. I even have a date for Xander . DRU 😱 😀
I think Dawn would object to Xander having a date!!
It's hard to even guess where they will go with the relationship in truth. As I've said before, the constant breaking up has become very tired in the verse but with Xander and Dawn looking more solid again perhaps they will be given longevity. I doubt it will head to marriage for Spuffy but Joss has had to sign off on all the overall choices and directions so far and they've continued together, getting stronger, so I'll just keep my fingers crossed we'll see them at least stick together.
