One of the reasons I got addicted to BtVS was the chemistry Buff, Willow, and Xander all had on screen. They became the best of friends and were always there for each other. Well, almost. It's very tempting to have that close social circle. I would love to be friends with all of them. Goof off, watch movies, help kill some vamps here and there... whatever they're doing in s8 and 9 (haven't read yet).

also I think it's funny I had this question before in my head, and then I start lurking and see the "Is Buffy a good friend" thread. though to me it's two different questions but please let me know if this isn't different enough to have its own topic.

Not only are the Scoobies people I would want to be friends with, but they are the type of people I usually hang around in real life, so the answer is a definite yes.

I'd be pretty lucky to have friends like the Scoobies. People who go through stressful things and remain friends tend to form really tight bonds. (In real life as well)

So, yeah, I think Buffy, Willow and Xander would be fun to hang with in the off hours.

Other Buffy characters who seem like they'd be fun to spend time with:

Dawn- when she's up and cheerful I think she's adorable!
Tara- Very grounded and nice to be around.
Oz- So cool. Share a comfortable silence or play guitar, eithers good!
Riley- Surprising I know, but he and Xander got on great, so he probably had a fun side.
Faith- In so many ways...but, okay, she's the kind of girl you could party with, play pool, get into bar brawls, flee the cops...what's not to love.
Spike- beer and poker, 'nuff said.

Lots of characters I would like hanging out with too!
I would definitely want to be friends with the Scoobies. 🙂 Their chemistry and friendship was the main reason I began watching the show to begin with, so my answer would most definitely be yes.

I would love to be friends with the Scoobies! There are also other characters in the series who I wouldn't mind hanging around either.

I hate to say it, but I don't think I'd interact overly well with the Scoobies. I don't think I'd fit in with their group much, if at all. I think, for me, the only way I'd be around them is if I was in a similar position to Angel, who was dating one of them.

The Scoobies always struck me as a really inclusive group, kind of the type of people who don't have a lot, if any, friends outside the parameters of their group. They also seem really insecure and at times downright hostile to new people who join their social setting. While that can be explained a bit by the nature of the work that they do, it doesn't explain why they get so freaked out constantly whenever one of their own starts hanging out with someone else. I don't think I'd be able to put up with that as a friend.

Flipping it a little bit, I would love to be friends with the Angel Investigations crew. I think they genuinely care about each other and the mission they've undertaken. I think they're there for one another in ways the Scoobies often aren't (for example, I don't think the Dark Willow saga even gets remotely close to that stage with the AI team) and they just seem better friends to me. I think I'd get along with them really well.

I'd be friends with Buffy, but I don't see myself being very close to Willow or Xander. I can't think of a reason I'd be friends with Giles, unless he was my dissertation supervisor or something. Actually, that would be pretty cool.

I see myself fitting in much better with the AI team. They take any stray that comes to their door and I could really see me clicking with them as a group, even the ones I'm not too fond of.

There are certain people from the scoobies that I would like as friends, but not all of them in their 'pack'. I've never liked 'groups' of friends, and I've always been the type of person to have one on one friendships instead. I think spending one on one time with Buffy would be fun, she's bright and bubbly and says off beat things quite a lot. I think if we worked together at Doublemeat Palace we would end up having our breaks together and whinging about coworkers.

I think Spike would be great fun to spend time with as well. Talk about punk rock and sing along to our favourite bands. Drink and play pool together. And maybe the occasional drunken romp in the sack (sw)

As other people have said I would definitely choose the AI gang over the scoobies. More grown up for starters.

Spike would be awesome to hang out with!
I could only imagine being friends with the scoobies at a similar age to them. When I was younger, they would have been the kind of people that I would have been searching for. For the most part, they are interesting and eccentric (in their own ways.) I like those qualities in a person very much. If I were my own age now (32), I'm not sure I could be friends with them (at the age they are at in the show, especially the high school years.) I'm more mature now and I long since have gotten passed all of the "growing up" issues that they wrestled with on the show (especially the early years.) If I met them at that age today, I'd probably consider myself too old to relate to them to be good friends. But when I was younger? Probably. Like I said, I like interesting, unique and eccentric types a lot. I would have to see how they change and mature into adulthood before I could say we could be friends as adults.

Possibly Giles. The others would probably just see me as a meddling old man. It would have been cool being Faith's Watcher (I know, she's not really a Scoobie, but she was part of the gang for awhile) I think that I could have almost certainly done a better job helping her than Wesley did, especially after the Assistant Mayor's death.

Xander and I would never be friends, but we could have had some good discussions about Sgt Rock and Easy Co vs Nick Fury and the Howling Commandos.
