Would you want to know the future?

Would you prefer the future to be a complete mystery and a surprise, or would you want to know what's gonna happen and be prepared?
 
It's a strange concept. I think the act of having the future revealed in itself is what concretes that future for you. Because it takes into consideration the fact that you now know this future, and even in trying to prevent something from happening the way it was foreseen is in turn going to result in that thing happening (Oedipus).

However, if you do not know your future you can continue to live as if you are the master of your own fate. So no, I would not want to know the future unless I was absolutely sure that I could change it if I wanted to.
 
It depends...

If my future is good I'd like to know now and if it's bad I'd rather not know. 🙂
 
S suprise. I bet it could be helpful if something bad will happen so I can change it, but what if I look into the future and see my life going well? Then I might spend the rest of my life being careful, watching every step so I won't sway of the path. Simply knowing about the future might change it I might not smile at the right person, and BOOM, no kids, no love, no nothing. Because I took the wrong steps.

I would never get over screwing up my future, so I want to be ignorant of it.

I don't think I'd like to know. I like having all these different possibilities before me. Makes life interesting.
 
No. The bad things, I don't want to waste my time dreading before they happen, and the good things I want to be a pleasant surprise.

But, if I could just be able to see the winning lottery ticket number, that would be okay.
 
I like surprises, so, no. It would take all the fun away. Honestly the great adventure of living is that we never know what's going to happen next.
 
It would depend on what the future was. If it was something mundane, then maybe, but if it was someone's death or something, then no.
 
I would hate to know what the future holds, it would drive me insane. I'd rather not know, whether it be a good future or a bad future.
 
No. I think it's better for everyone, if they don't know what their future is.
I don't wanna live my life knowing that in 2 weeks a friend is going to die or something. That's really, really bad.
And if you knew your friend was gonna die and he or she didn't know, would you tell him/her?
(Assumed that you also know the future of people who affect your life.)
 
No, I would never to know what's coming my way.

Probably because I love waiting and surprise so much.. knowing stuff would make life a little less fun. Also, I believe everything happens for a reason, so I guess things that happen should happen, and it would be pointless from me to stop them. Because that's the only good thing from knowing the future.. preventing something like someone dying or some big turning point that will change everything.. but I guess we can't stop things, we can just delay them.. so no, I would never want to know the future.
 
If I could be told that everything will work out, or that in the end I will be happy, I'd like to know. I don't want to know how it happens, what I go through to get there, but I would like the assurance that it would all work out in the end.

I think, maybe, that's what faith is. But I wonder though, maybe if faith and fact were the same thing, it would take something away from it...

I have to think about this.
 
I wouldn't want to know my future as if i saw what was going to happen i may change the things i do and live my life differently. I chatted about something similar to this when i was watching Final Destination with friends. We asked if you saw the aeroplane crashing and everyone dying, after seeing Final Destination would you want to get off the plane and risk death coming after you or would you just get on and die?

But i always said i would not want to know my future, it is better to just live life and see what happens. If there is something i want to happen i can work for it and make it happen 🙂
