Before i post this i just want to say i think series 7 was good IF it carried on(as a tv series), but some parts were terrible for the final series ever.

Anyway giles mentioned something about another hellmouth so wouldn't the first just go and open that hellmouth aswell?

Some other things that i didn't like+and/or didn't make sense in s7 that i wanna see peoples views on

- All the potentials becoming real slayers, i just think it goes against the show and the whole point is that buffy is a unique person, then suddenly theres 2000+ slayers..

- I didn't think the potentials should of been part of s7 since they didn't help much except for being annoying and it wasn't even them that defeated the ubervamps in the hellmouth

- Why do everything to protect the lives of 10 potentials when theres thousands? and why would the first want to kill those 10 to stop the slayer line when theres 1000s more

- One ubervamp destroys buffy, then suddenly they die extremely easy even to humans like giles etc

- Why do spell at last second when they could of done before

- Buffy gets stabbed then suddenly can run and forgets about it

Yes to all of this. I really hated the potentials. They were a dreadful idea.

Season 7 left plenty of questions for me too but I think to answer a few of yours I think the first was hunting all of the potentials all over the world. Thats why they had them come to Sunnydale, so Buffy and the Scoobies could try and protect them.

My biggest question with season 7 was that at the end Giles mentions the other Hellmouth in Cleveland, but if thats the case who was protecting that one the whole time? lol. Buffy was basically the only slayer before and if so much crap happened in Sunnydael just because of the Hellmouth we can imagine all kinds of hell happened in Cleveland with no Slayer to protect it. I suppose it explains Lebron James being born 🙁 Devil spawn

I'm certain that it was mentioned that there was a Hellmouth in Melbourne, too. I'm assuming they'd (The Council) at least have sub-headquarters or a team in those other Hellmouthed towns while there is another active Slayer in another. Although, Nikki Wood was in New York and there was no Hellmouth there...could almost be pure coincidence that Buffy ended up where a Hellmouth is considering not many others (or any for that matter to my knowledge) did.
I think if I were leading the council I would have my Slayer positioned in a Hellmouthed town and have in-training potentials located in the others. At least then they'd be trained appropriately if they were called.

Slayers don't traditionally concern themselves with hellmouths infact I think buffy was the first to do so. When Giles first tells her about the demonic activity in sunnydale she says "I'm a VAMPIRE slayer" which suggests up until then slayers really only killed vampires.

The slayer is not the only person who can protect the world, hence the presence of vampires with soul, a series of people with visions who have to pass these onto a champion (who never seems to be a slayer), there are mexican wrestlers, groosaulog type people, half demons, dummys, rogue demon hunters, sons of slayers, wesleys and gunn types people, and other demon champions that all could be protecting the hellmouth/rest of the world.

I suppose you are right. Idk, I just feel like an actually hellmouth brings the kind of trouble you need an actual slayer to protect. Like look at season 8

Spoillers: (because I dont know how to do the whole blacking it out thing haha)

dont the slayers set up shop in cleveland to help protect the hellmouth? idk I have never read the season 8 comics, just read the summaries. Thats actually how I found buffy boards lol, I was searching for the issue summaries lol but I digress. I just cant imagine there would have been sufficient man power minus a slayer. The closest thing to a slayer I can think of is a vamp with a soul and aside from Angel and then spike how many of those do we figure there actually are in the buffverse.

Buffy is the first Slayer in hundreds of years to be active on the Sunnydale Hellmouth. The Native American Slayer whose name I can neither pronounce nor spell, lol, worked the Sunnydale Hellmouth before it was Sunnydale, but that's the last anyone ever mentions about any Slayer being active on the Hellmouth. Any Hellmouth.

Every other Slayer that as ever been mentioned, Nikki, Xin Rong, Faith, Kendra, the other Slayers from the Tales novels and comics, not one of them lived on or near a Hellmouth when she was Called. Faith would have served her time in Boston had her Watcher not been killed, forcing her to seek out Buffy. Kendra only came to Sunnydale because of her Watcher's warnings and was due to return to her home town. Nikki and Xin Rong never left their home cities and neither did any of those other Slayers.

I would think that, if the Hellmouth was such a big deal to the Council, that the Slayer who came before Buffy would have been placed there, too. Or any Slayer. But she wasn't. Something made the Council maneuver Buffy into that position. We know from 'The Wish' that their plan was to get her to at least one of the Hellmouths, and it was just luck that had Joyce choose Sunnydale.

They wanted Buffy in particular to serve on a Hellmouth.

Good point, the coucil controlled the slayer, and they basically just saw her as a soldier, she was not supposed to be this apocalpypse ending force, pre-buffy it seems like the slayer was more of a tool to keep the general demon populace down

Although the Hellmouth does attract supernatural entities more-so than other locations, Sunnydale's Hell Mouth was stirring up at the time. Think of the time imbetween the original High School being destroyed and the new High School being built, the Hellmouth could almost be considered dormant during those years. Very little activity. So maybe Cleveland's Hellmouth has been relatively dormant in the sense that it attracts supernatural creatures but nothing nearly as apocalyptic as an 'Active' Hellmouth could actually do.

Thats just a theory, but it fits. There's also no way of telling if the Cleveland Hellmouth had the seals of Danthazar or the armies of Uber-Vamps inside of them like Sunnydale's had. Also, location could have played a part. The Sunnydale Hellmouth was underneathe of a High School where the students were lending emotional energy to it (At least thats what I thought) That could have amped up that specific Hellmouth to be more of a prime location for The First to work it's mojo.

I have to disagree with you here. If Buffy's original Watcher Merrick hadn't died and Buffy hadn't been expelled from her school, she would have stayed in L.A at least for a while. The council couldn't really manipulate Joyce to choose moving to a Hellmouth, it was probably the Hellmouth itself that attracted Buffy to it just like it attracts all types of other supernatural activity.

It did seem like the Slayer often moved though by the council's discretion. If she was needed some where else then they sent her there as shown in "The Wish".

Huh, well, back in the episode "Wish" the parallel world version of Buffy WAS stationed in Cleveland, though we never are really told how she got there. They don't explicitly say that there's a hellmouth, just that there's a lot of demonic activity there. Meanwhile, Sunnydale was left to the Master...

Yah but at the end of the season 7 finale, Giles says that there is another Hellmouth in Cleveland. It actually seemed like the Watcher Giles calls in 'The Wish' doesn't even think there is a Hellmouth in Sunnydale as it takes some convincing to get him to send Buffy at all.

Yeah you're right about that. My thought is that, as you said, Buffy was "sent" Where she was needed. Sunnydale wasn't just a hellmouth, it was a prison for an ancient vampire, headquarters for the order of Aurelius, a feeding ground for demons established by a mayor planning an ascension, and it had the Seal of Danzalthar. That's a lot of potential disaster in one little town.

Ale,
my attempt to add a few answers to your questions.

The only reason Giles mentioned about the Hellmouth in Cleveland was because the group were wondering what to do next, as they looked at the hole where Sunnydale used to be. Giles mentioning Cleveland's Hellmouth seemed like a casual remark, Giles's attempt at humour.

If the potentials hadn't been a part of season 7 you'd have had no background to any of them. Also the build up to the final battle would have been made a lot shorter.

And it wasn't even them who defeated the forces in the Hellmouth.
Do you think that just Buffy, Faith and Spike should have gone into the Hellmouth against tens of thousands. As it was they all helped each other.

The First was killing off the Slayer line, the other girls were merely at the pre-potentials stage and as such not part of the slayer line. As for why Buffy protected the 10 potentials, they were the only ones who went to Buffy for her protection.

One ubervamp destroys Buffy, the others are easier to kill.
When was Buffy destroyed by an Ubervamp (Toorak Ahn)(spelling ?)
And an old way of fighting was to send your best fighters first.

Why was the spell done at the last minute?
If it was done 3 or 4 epsodes before that would have spoiled the ending of the series. It would also have meant the First was better prepared.

Buffy gets stabbed by the sword then forgets about it.
That could have been a mixture of Slayer healing, a massive dose of adrenaline, and as had often been said, strange things happen on a Hellmouth.
Well, they were 'in' the Hellmouth.

Um...what exactly are you disagreeing with?

I said that Buffy was sent to the Hellmouth because that was where the Council felt she was needed. We learned in 'The Wish' and from Kendra that a Slayer can get sent to wherever she can be of the most help. You disagreed with that, then stated:

It did seem like the Slayer often moved though by the council's discretion. If she was needed some where else then they sent her there as shown in "The Wish".

So, why did you disagree if, in fact, you seem to agree with my original point?

Also, Buffy was a 15 year old girl who had just been expelled from school for fighting and delinquent behavior. There's no way Joyce would have agreed with her choice of what town to move to. The decision to move was all on Joyce and Buffy just had to go along for the ride - which is why I believe that the Council had a lot to do with that decision. We know that spells to mess with peoples memories and perceptions exist in this verse, it wouldn't be hard for an operative or a witch in the Councils employ to cast a spell to influence Joyce's decisions, leaving her only options to be Sunnydale or Cleveland and having a Watcher in place at each location until the decision was made.

Well the point I was trying to make was that the Hellmouth attracted Buffy or at least played an influential part in Joyce's decision to move there. It gravitated supernatural things to it which included Buffy.

But it only seemed like the Slayer was directed to leave her home-town when the council felt it was an important situation. But even then, she would return back home after the issue was resolved.

I really don't think the council played a huge part in relocating Slayers. My theory is, if a random potential is chosen in a specific area of teh globe at a specific time, then there must be a reason for it.

I think that the answer here could be found in something that the Guardian told Buffy about her being the last Slayer. Normally, Slayers don't patrol Hellmouths, and they don't avert apocalypses. Slayers basically move from place to place, going wherever the worst vamp infestation is. That's the Slayer's job.

Buffy living near a hellmouth, whether by design or by luck, was an exception to the normal rule, just as was, probably, all of the demon activity in that area, and all of the averted apocalypses there. Her STAYING there was certainly planned. The "Big One" was coming, and while the Watchers didn't really know what it was, they knew that it was inevitable, and it was soon. Therefore, they put their best asset, the Slayer, there to take the first brunt of the attack, much like the Spartans at Thermopylae. Buffy was supposed to be the first casualty, giving the Counsel time to mount a proper assault. Ironically, exactly the opposite happened.
