In "School Hard" when Xander tries to find a stake for Buffy at the Bronze, Xander had a white stick in his hand I just realized it was a TAMPON lmfaooo

You know, it took me a couple of rewatches to figure that out too! 😛

I don't know if I should post this...

Well, later on in the episode, when Spike is roaming the school halls, he says, "I smell the blood of a nice, ripe girl."

...I'll leave you to work it out.

I always noticed the tampoon but to be honest I never connected it to this line.

To me this line always seemed more predatory in the way that any vampire would smell their victim a distance away from the blood pumping in their veins, it's what makes them good predators after all. I don't think the blood needs to be 'external' shall we say for them to get a whiff of it, and personally I don't think the line was a reference to that.

I agree, or maybe the writers are pretty gross
REEEEWATCH.That is really something I love especially about Buffy. I always find little things that went by totally unrecognized to me before.

I only found out after reading some stuff on the internet. And then everything just got a whole lot funnier, especially with Spike's reference later on.

Tampon.....nice, ripe girl......ohhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Suddenly everything in this world makes way more sense. Lmao I swear that made my day. (Also, this is the strangest thread I've read....BB rules! Haha! 😀 😀)

I've never noticed that until I heard about it from somewhere. I'm not really surprised though, Buffy is a girl.

I remember a discussion here over the question whether or not Slayers have that... monthly monster.

Oh God, xaphania, now I will be thinking about it every time I rewatch that scene. I don't think they meant it to be this way, but it is funny thinking of it this way.

I think I noticed it a while back. Our tampons are backed differently in Sweden, so I didn't connect. I also didn't connect with the ripe girl line until now.

I actually read a fanfic where the watcher's council made sure Buffy took a shoot at the hospital so she wouldn't have her mensies. I guess some sort of birth control. Seems like the best thing for a slayer to do.

I don't think that was really intentional. Actually, I refuse to think that because it's too gross 😛

Also, Xander going through Buffy's bag and finding a tampon doesn't actually have to equal she has her period. Most girls probably carry tampons around all the time, just in case. I think it was put more in there for the comic relief of guys coming in contact with female products and the related awkwardness, not to indicate where Buffy was standing right now in der cycle 😛

"nice, ripe girl" could also be referring to him seeing her as "ready to eat", like humans would be referring to a nice, ripe apple or something like that. Actually I much prefer this line of thinking.
