There are many ways to erase the dreaded writers block, though I'd highly recommend not banging you head on a brick wall. One possible way is to list the plot points of the piece of Fan Fiction. Stating the end of the tale then writing how you get to the end is causing a break of Writers Block .. .. .. continue.
Do you wish to include a character but you are unsure how to introduce him or her try to write what the person is in the tale to do.
Problems of situations might be relieved if you attempt to describe the plant life around the person or their mode of transport.
Make up a situation that has nothing to do with the tale, this may enable your mind to concentrate on the actual tale.
Many sites say it is a good idea to write something, anything that might be okay but don't be afraid to use parts of the something or anything.

Something I have found of great use is to carry a biro and notepad wherever I go, the notion being that any idea I have I can jot down on the pad. Because I can guarantee if I thought, 'oh I will remember that' then I can guarantee I would forget it.

Beside your bed is a great place to keep a notepad.
Normally I tend to write my fan fiction as and when I feel like doing it. My latest one Moons Call has been written completely. I wrote it as script to put specific pieces of music in it, trying to get the music to have a meaning to the fan fiction. I hope you like it. This latest venture will be in 6 parts of 4 pages A4 or there abouts.

Thank you for this thread. I had writer's block. Then i mostly got over it but i am so far away from the stories i was writing rhat i cannot aeem to get back into them. I even know how some end but cannot seem to fill in the middle bits.

While i was actively writing, i had the threads around me as though i was inside the loom creating the tapestry. Now i have to figure out how to get back inside the threads and begin weaving where i left off.

My problem is more angst and feeling overwhelmed than not being able to write at all, though writing does not flow like a flood anymore, on occasion i do write short pieces and have written follow-on chapters for most of the unfinished stories.

Thanks for the organizational suggestions. More suggestions are welcome.

My suggestions for avoiding writers block include writing completely different ideas when stuck, and not trying to limit focus when lots of ideas are flowing. That is part of what shut the flood down. I guilted myself into "focusing on stories in progress" (mostly to please others who said i should finish things before starting new work).

I went from finishing my stories (and constantly starting new ones) to writing nothing at all. It is a balance of course but each of us has a process - and we have to be careful not to mess with it.

Thanks again for this thread.

On the occasions when I have had complete writers block I decided to write a tale about a completely different subject than I had done before. I would try to write a love story, a medieval battle, a horror story. I do not have much experience of love a tale of love, no knowledge of medieval battles and no ability about writing a horror story. It gave me new ways to string words together and that is a handy thing when the memory cannot remember the words you need.
One of the problems I found due to not finishing stories before starting new ones was the realisation I had a lot of unfinished projects, however, when the stories I often write are about witchcraft it can often be a case of taking from one story to put it in another story with just a few alterations. ( just ? )

You said about you as being in a loom while creating a tapestry - well I used to build rock walls, that was like making a jigsaw puzzle in rocks without having an idea of what the finished project would look like and making it look good. Fun thing this story writing isn't it?

Another thing I try is to write a tale in Film script, TV series script, then in book form. Then a thought provoking project is to write that book to be suitable for children or young adults then adults. Try just a couple of pages first.

Failure to do that brings about the question; fancy redesigning your garden?

I've just picked up writing a fan fix that I hadn't done for around five years lol. I now am scrambling to find new ideas because the ones I had were lost when my last phone died. And using the pieces I'd hinted at in another fic where there was crossover. So much fun lol.

I don't write fan-fics, but I do write in the styles of Swords & Sorcery authors, which is the fanciest way of saying "I write fan fics about Conan, but not about Conan, just when Conan wasn't really Conan." I take what REH said about his own writing into consideration, I'll paraphrase: Make a scenario, and then let the character tell you what they do.

What is REH ?
@ILLYRIAN REH stands for Robert E. Howard, the author of the Conan stories. Sorry, used group a speech in group b.

While getting ready to post another part (3) of Christina and the Angel's I thought of an important thing every writer/author needs to do - read through what he or she has written, to correct the spelling, the grammar or even the characters name.

This is an example of how to write a story, the following covers most of what can be said, so to fill in the details I could develop a story as to how the person Graham was in Australia in the year 1860. By stating about his childhood then giving him a life on a long boat which caused him to work as a clerk for a transport firm. Going out for the weekend he found himself in need of food so he stole some food but got caught. Sentenced and charged he was presented to a magistrate and given 10 years labour with transport to Australia. There should be enough for a page or two of the story. Of his time in prison in Australia and on the work gang could be another page with an expanded view of his continued fall from grace to his time in a convict establishment (prison).
Write of the backstory of the island prison. The story continues to increase in size, add to that his development to being a witch/ sorceror or wizard.

The Islands Prison

Graham had worked on Brian and Marion Baxter’s farm for several years, he would busy himself repairing their fences, helping to extinguish bush fires whenever one ravaged the land. Feeding their animals and repairing the animals enclosures as and when they needed to be repaired. When the time was convenient he would burn wood to make the charcoal for the kitchen. One eventful day the woman’s husband Brian had been kicked by a horse and had died from his injuries, Graham continued to honour the agreement that had been made with the husband. One day when he was repairing the wall of the outhouse for the chickens he was trapped in the woman’s kichen when two men had gone there to force her to feed them, not having any food at that time the men said they did not believe her and began to take out their rage of her. Graham had stepped in and attempted to save the woman. I say attempted as the woman succumbed to her beatings by the men and Graham had caused the deaths of the two men. With no one to speak for him the state troopers decided that Graham had killed all three.
Taken to a convicts yard when he was presented to the magistrate he was found guilty of the multiple murders, Graham was sentenced to life in prison. A lenient sentence though Graham knew no doubt that he would be killed in prison, either by any one of the other convicts or by a warden, by accident of course.
Graham had been in the towns prison four two years since he had been sentenced to life for the murder of a woman and two men. He had begun to think he would live out his days in the prison, so it was a great surprise when two guards opened his cell door and told him he would be moved to the Islands Prison. Unable to form a coherent argument he was silent. The elder of the prisons guards smiled as he said they would be moving him later that day. Distraught at being told of the move he managed to complain about the move to a couple of prisoners who hated him, though they wished him no good they granted him their forgiveness. “May you find our forgiveness to you gives you the help you will need there,” said Marvin. Graham knew that they wished him well purely because they knew of the threat that he now faced. A prison guard who had overheard him offered his best wishes for a quick end to his life, “Rumour has it that even the most hardened convicts who had been at the prison had spoken of their fears of going to the island prison,” said guard twenty eight. The convict begged to be killed rather than go there though the prison warden had told him, “Not to be afraid as no one had said what life was like on the Island prison as no convict had ever been allowed off the island, alive!”
Graham was grateful that the other convicts in the prison would offer him their pity. Even the prison guards felt a degree of compassion for him, they allowed him extra time in the shower that morning as one of the guards said, “You never know when you will get another shower.” Before the midday meal he was taken from the prison to a prison transport wagon to be transported down to the docks where he was shackled to a large heavy cannonball. No prospect of escape was given to him as he was thrown onto his second to last transport vessel.
On the way to the island several of the convicts spoke of what they saw on the island, columns of flames that rose into the sky in the shape of a demon’s head, figures of shadows that wandered on the coast towards them. When they reached the jetty they were shackled behind a wagon and slowly pulled towards the hated prison. At the start of the road to the prison a preacher gave them their final blessing, he told them that many of those in the island prison had begun to praise the devil, in the hope he would forgive them their sins and allow them to die.
Not many found forgiveness from the devil, though it was given to them from another convict. Many of the wardens would try to say the Devil forced them to do it. The only difference being that it was hoped that a death by the Devil would be quicker.
The first Graham knew his current predicament was when the preacher walked away from them, each of the convicts looked to each other for friendship, they knew that in the event of any persecution a friend would be the only escape they might have. The gates to the rest of their lives opened, each convict considered there would be no help offered to them beyond those gates. By altering the names you can make the tale of the series.

Allow your imagination to flow, as long as you can explain in a believable manner why he becomes what he becomes.
