Writers..?

Do you like to write? What do you write: poems, short stories, novels..? What do you write about, things you've experienced, things you've made up..? Ok, you get the question..

I'm in the twelft and last year in school, and I have this big project that I've been working on for almost a year. I'm writing a book, it's poems, stories, words.. everything that I want to write. But now I have nothing to write about and I have no words.. And I have to finish the book in two weeks or something to send it to the printer..
 
I'd say that if you can't write more, then you are finished. It's not good to force these kind of things. Can't you just send it to the printer as it is?
 
I've been working for a manuscript for a LONG time. It's actually where my screenname comes from. Jacklyn is the main character of said manuscript. I also write reviews for the the site listed in my sig.

I have no advice on writer's block though, as by living with my hubby who is also a writer, I have learned that everyone gets over writer's block in a different way, so the things I tell you may not be the things that will help.
 
When I'm bored I tend to write little short stories in my head, or if I'm really bored, I devise TV shows. I can even picture the opening credits. 😀 It's very theraputic when it's three in the morning and you're waiting for a taxi...

I love writing just for the sake of writing. Maybe it's because it's sort of my only language, but I love English. It's very... lean, or something... it's chunky and functional, but it can be deceptively subtle. It's like... the carpentry of languages. It's easy to make it perfectly okay, and usable, and functional, but if you go back, and polish it, and detail it, and get rid of stuff you don't need, you can probably find a metaphor that works a lot better than this one. And then you have a lovely wooden chair, or something.

Mostly though, I just write rants for bulletin boards. 😀

The thing is, they don't print books that are shorter than 50 pages.. And I don't think mine is 50 pages..

It's not my language but I love English as well. But I'm not good enough to write in English (yet, I'm surtain I will be some day). Everything sounds less cliche in English than in Swedish (except for "I love you" which often sounds more chliche than "Jag älskar dig")..

Er, isn't writing (or the creative arts in general) all about breaking molds?? Write you a 49 pg volume just to send the publishers into a tizzy! Just make it a fantastic 49 pages, eh?

My difficulty is that I write too much. Either I've been overexposed to an omnipresent media, or I've got a brain for building fictional universes. Oh, and I'm also lazy . . . hehe.

I write pretty much anything, though poetry--- at least the free-flowing, non-rhyming variety--- is more difficult than a sonnet in iambic pentameter.
 
I stopped writing for my own pleasure a long time ago, mainly because I didn't have time. I've wrote pleanty of essays in my time and find it easy to write 5,000 at a go. When I get a block or stressed I go for a walk to clear my head. The old saying of exercising the body exercises the mind.

OMG! I do that too! Like all the time. And I thought I was the only one who bothered to do that. I also see stuff I wanna write in my heads. Like rants.

I like english better. That's mostly cause I think swedish is kinda boring and I'm not that good at spelling in spanish (tho I speak it fluently). And it's true that about 'I love you'. It's like over used or something? Jag älskar dig is for me more emotional.

I figured it was something like that. If they can't bend the rules you just have to break them without them know it. Or something...
Like my friend did. She filled the pages by putting stuff with really BIG letter and a lots drawings and stuff. It was neat.

Hehe, lately I've been disgracing Shakespeare by writing mostly in iambic pentameter. I like it.
 
Doppelganger, I'm so glad I'm not the only lunatic. The thing that sucks about my HeadTV, is that I'm crap at character names. I can visualise them and distinguish and all, but when I imagine them speaking to one another, every single guy is called Harry, and every single girl is called Laura... I just like the way the names "sound" in dialogue...
 
LOL. I am too relieved to know we're now officially two lunatics.

I have a similar problem. All my girls are called Sam. Actually, there's this one Sam in particular that often shows up in my HeadTV. She's like this agressive latina chick who's got a lot of issues with white people and grew up on the six, just like j-lo.
And Faith's also good at showing up. Usually she's getting herself into awkward situations.

Did that make sense?

Well, they can't make the book if it's too thin, that's the problem.. I'll just have to write a sentence on each page I guess..
And it's not really a publisher, they're just going to print my book, I'll have to pay for them my self and sell them my self..

Not the only two nuts. My version of HeadTV is actually how I came up with my manuscript! And in my version every female main characters name has been Jacklyn-since I was like, 10. Hence the screen name! 🙂
 
I..dabble in...a bit of it all...making up lil universe´s in my head...yea, i´ve done that lots. its best right before bed. but..i get names and such..i..just..can´t really see the people?...which..is annoying...no faces or anything, sometimes hair color but..other than that...nothing.
i tend to imagine what i can, as bored often..so...i get loads of convos...
im lazy with my english when posting, cuz i do it as i talk, not that i talk while i type, but..i say things the same and pause in the same places. and my spelling and typings better as well...use less slang, cept in dialogue...hm..if it weren´t so ingrained, i´d think about working on that.

poems so far, only things i´ve really completed, besides two short stories...i..sorta..not so good at the finishing less for school....
well...i have...like 7 plays i gotta edit and spruce up..but...most part done..longest is 40 minutes, but...i plan on changing quite a bit when i get the chance..which reminds me..gotta email prof... :sigh:

gluck with the book ep, its sounds pretty neat. maybe inspirationonal quotes or something?

Plays, that's great, I mean it's hard to write plays, at least I think so.. Well my problem is I can't write dialogues.. So no plays or movies for me.. (Unfortunately since I'd love to write/direct/make a movie.)

I've started on about two or three novels since I was seven, but of course I've never gotten far, the longest one is 40 pages I think, then I got stuck and realized it was crap.

I never have inspiration to write anymore, except when I'm about to fall asleep,, then I get a word or a name or an idea in my head and I have to get up and write it down..
Or when I'm walking home from the bus, I get a sentence in my head, that I have to memorise. But by the time I get home, what was in the beginning maybe two words, has now become a whole little story that I have to write down before I forget it (which I always do, I alway forget it)..
 
I totally like writing poems. I have my own journal where I like write sooo many poems in it. EVERYBODY like totally EVERYBODY in my family writes but my sissy is like the best. You'd love her stuff! She's the greatest! 😀

My writing tends to stem from emotion. It's an awesome outlet. ( And by emotions I mean all emotions- not Just anger. If that were the case I'd have a perfect title for my book- P.M.S! ::rm:: :hihi: )

Everyone in my family writes too. My parents are both journalists and my grandmother is too. (I don't have any brothers or sisters.)
But I have a lot of friends who are really good, It makes me jealous sometimes but we write very different from eachother..
 
Not much of a poetry guy, as a teen I wrote alot of aborted horror novels and I tried my hand song writing while I was religious (totally lame). Now in my young adult hood, I write not to get published but for fun, which means more aborted short stories and of course fan fic. I honestly can't do that much because of "real life" and I really don't think my stuff is that great, and it's so friggin hard to get my thoughts onto paper.
