Writers..?

Another good way of getting over the wntire writers block thing is to do a little...can't remember the name, but I think it's called Flödeskrivning. Ok it goes something like this;

You get a piece of paper and a pencil and a watch/mobile. You set the alarm for five minutes or something like that, you press start and then you start writing. You can begin with anything and if you want you can write that same sentance over and over again, but the trick is to never stop writing. Never stop writing! and somewhere in the midst of all that jibberish there will often be a couple of really good sentances that you can use. If not use the entire paper and just call it post-modern art/poem.

LOL, I just gotta say that was the greatest thing I've ever heard. Strangly enough I hadn't heard about this Flödeskrivning.

Haha, flödesskrivning (sounds so weird/fun with a Swedish word in the middle of all the English ones). That sounds great actually, I have to try that as soon as I get home from school.

my playwriting teacher made us do that every day of class the flödesskrivning it..does help a lil, especially cuz it´d never be read. 😀 good for venting, but don't need to time, but..just..we were supposed to write untill our heads were clear to write. she called it unloading?...

i find dialogue easier, i just have like next to No clue how to make people do What i want, when I manage to know.
i figure i need to finish a short story 'fore i do a novel..so..
i've had a "oh so lovely lack of inspiration" *insert standard oh the sarcasm kills me there remark* lately. 🙁 i get like lil clips of things..but..nothing really...real...if y'get me. its..way frustrating. 🙁
but, i got SO much right before i sleep stuff, i do seem to do a bit there, once i even finished a fic. i was gonna ignore it, cuz..it was being a pain in the arse, but..i figured what the hell write it, maybe i can sleep. i did. not that it matters.

my sibs all have great imaginations but..as for writing i dunno, i know it took me forever to get there, my sis, more hands on crafty stuff, but..me not...for various reasons, but..bros...maybe...i used to hate writing. and poems..yet i have over 50...hm...go figure.

yea i knew this lady who wrote fanfic for charmed. i was jealous a lil, and..i really wished She was writing the show, it was like at least a hundred times better. 🙂
and more interesting...deeper darker, funnier, cooler...better.

and I really don't think my stuff is that great, and it's so friggin hard to get my thoughts onto paper.
same here, and its worst when its Right outside grasp, like you can feel it, and it Still won't come. thats..way annoying.
i think my stuff sucks for the most part, but..im not sure if thats cuz something else or not, but...everyone else likes it. *shrugs* meh.

Coming to fan fiction, I am so much better at writing dialogues than the rest. Like explaining what people are doing. I really suck at that. I'm gettinger better at writing first person POV and stuff. But that explaining what people are doing... it's annoying.

Sometimes, when I'm stuck, I read other peoples fics or maybe watch an episode or two to get me inspired. Otherwise I just stop and hope that muse will come back soon.

I'm the reverse. I seem to love that stuff ("She did this, she did that.") but my dialogue tends to be quite wierd (It's how I speak, not how the characters would)

In fact sometimes when I'm really wound up, I just describe something I'm seeing, it's relaxing.

When I'm describing what someone's doing, it looks more like "What I did on summer vacation" rather than a story with good flow.
But dialogues... I just love them! I've written several short scripts and I'm currently trying to get my lazy arse to edit a short movie I've done.

What do you say Jill, I give you a dialogue and you fill in the blanks? 😀

My too.. I can't get the characters to speak the way they should.. They all speak like me.

My "stories" are mostly just about one single person,, I might mention someone else, but most of the time I don't.. (Ok that sounded boring..)
I write really short stories, maybe a page or two nut mostly just half a page or less..

I tried to write a play once, really tried.. But I can't write proper dialoges, so it was mostly weird poetry or words.. And no real story of course, cause I just wanted it to be weird art.. (Why can't I just do it the normal and good way..? Heh..)

I love writing everything... I write fan fictions, poems, fictions, essays... I can go on forever. I just love doing stuff like that... 🙂 But out of the stuff that I write I prefer doing fan fictions the best... 🙂 Then poems and essays come... And then there's fictions and stuff. 🙂

Fan fiction... I enjoy writing it, but at the same time, it's not very good, and I always feel the slightest bit goofy doing it. With one, exception, a Silent Hill fanfic I'm still sort of proud of...

I could never write fan fiction.. I could never write believeable dialogues.. I've never even tried that.. (Well, five years ago my friend and I wrote a Friends-episode. heh. I don't remember much about it but I can't imagine it was any good..)

Just a general rule I've learned over the years through writing: You will always think you suck, no matter how good you are. Don't judge yourself, cuz you're your own worst enemy. The best thing to do is to give a sample to someone you really trust to tell you the truth. Then see what they say and try to do your best to use their advice in a consrtuctive way. Believe me, I used to think my stuff was utter crap-until Old Master 2.0 and, of course my husband, yelled at me until I believed I was just as good as they told me I was 🙂

That's great, that you realized you're good.
I'm just not trying hard enough I think, people don't tell me I'm good but I don't let people read my texts a lot.. (They wil be able to read everything in two months though, because of my book.. scary..)

I write news (and the very rare special) for a gaming site.

I write TV shows in my head (have one all planned out, season long arc, plot twists, character traits et al).

I mean to do more writing but Im a very unbusy man but the hours just pass by.
