Constantin Film is remaking the West Virginia cannibals movie Wrong Turn, a franchise which kicked off in 2003 with a theatrical release via Fox and spawned another five films, the last being in 2014. The franchise’s creator Alan McElroy has returned to pen the script, and Mike P. Nelson, who recently helmed Orion Classics’ sci-fi thriller The Domestics, is directing.

The updated version is described as a timely and topical meditation on society and its issues. A cross-country hiking expedition puts a group of friends in the land of an inclusive society, where they soon discover they are under a different rule of law, and may not be the victims they thought they were.

Have no thoughts on this one way or the other. If its different enough from the films then I guess it will only reference them by the title. Am guessing a horror element will creep in somewhere.

I only watched the first film, because of Eliza Dushku, and I thought it was fine. I think it's a franchise that could be rebooted endlessly, so my thought is go for it.

Um... no. That's what I thought at first but then the more I started thinking it sounds like the hikers because they are 'normal' will be the villains terrorizing the backwoods 'others' they stumble across. I hope it's not the case but I think it will be a politically correct don't judge everyone by their appearance thing.

@Taake You are part of the problem. Just because they are cannibals you label them as monsters. There are many cultures where it's socially acceptable to eat the flesh of the dead. Or is it because they are backwoods mountain people that lets you label them as monsters?

Actually it was the inbred-ugliness of them that I remembered from the first movie that made me label them thus.

I'm trying to figure out what is more horrific - cannibalism or the PC inclusivity / multicultural element. Political correctness was originated by Chairman Mao who insisted an American could not be spoken of as an American, he had to be a "Yankee imperialist running-dog". But it's nice to know he was the paragon of political correctness when he murdered 11 million people.

I LOVE Wrong Turn, even though its not, objectively, that good a horror movie (the villains aren't scary). I like out-doorsy movies in general.
I do like the main guy in it and Eliza's performance is great and fun to watch. Also the action and cinematography are well above average. Certainly better than THHE remake.

I haven't seen any of the sequels but I'm fine with this.

But why? Did anybody asked for this? Horror movies can sometimes be just horror movies! Not everything has to have a message. Bloodthirsty inbreed cannibals can just be Bloodthirty inbreed cannibals!
