wwhich season finale makes you the most emotional?

After rewatching the series AGAIN and feeling amazed that after probably seeing these episodes 100+ times that they still evoke strong emotions and tears from me just as though it were the first time seeing them 🙂 and so it got me wondering....Which of the most emotional season finales tugged at your heart strings the most, and why?
 
The Gift, for sure! I actually just rewatched it today. Buffy is so self-sacrificing and willing to do anything for the people she loves...I find that very inspiring, as well as something I strive to be.
 
Definitely Becoming Part 2, that always gets me a little misty eyed when I'm watching it

Same here. I only started watching Buffy a few months ago so I knew that Angel wasn't gone for ever since he got his own spinoff but fiancé and I both cried when we watched it.
 
Buffy Season 5 The Gift: It was very balanced, there was teamwork, strength and courage. Buffy knew what she had to do and didn't think twice, her words to Dawn (& friends) and her sacrifice is really emotional and empowering.

Angel Season 3 Tomorrow: Something that could have actually worked (Angel & Cordelia) because of who they are & who they become simply falls to pieces (usual Joss stuff). Even it's symbolism, where Cordelia ascends and Angel descends - meaning, never gonna happen. It's sad.
 
I guess the real answer would be the Gift. It's the one that I watch the most, but it's also a sad/happy ending. I find myself finding it sad, but in a happy way if that makes sense. It's like as much as seeing Buffy die hurts, it seems like everyone in the end are happy. Buffy is finale at peace, and so are her friends and family. It's the perfect ending, the only ending, that shows a bright future for everyone. And unfortunately (because Buffy is dead), I think it was also the best ending for Buffy. Not that being dead is a great thing, but when you are the slayer and everything, and after her incredibly inspiring self-sacrificing, I think her going to heaven is the only way she can ever truly be happy while being at peace with her duties. So what I'm trying to say is that the gift does make me the most emotional, but those emotions are not only sadness, it's a mix of satisfaction, happiness, closure, and everything else a finale should be.

As fair as being restricted to which episode makes me the saddest, it would probably be the ending of s6 (although I can count almost the last 3 episodes in that). Willow's storyline is one of my favourite in the entire verse.

For Angel, it's been a while so I have a hard time to choose, but I'd say Not Fade Away but for similar reasons as the Gift.

Annoyingly it won't let me give Rep and comment on it whilst posting from my kindle, but I very much agree with everything in this post. Personally I might lean a little more towards the Willow Storyline, but that is usually just when Tara dies. Not the finale. I cry during The Gift like everytime.
 
'The Gift' is probably the episode that makes me the most emotional, the one that makes my heart hurt and my throat tight and tears stream from my eyes. Every single time.

'Graduation Day' or 'Restless' are probably the episodes that make me the most excited for the next season, that make my heart pound with anticipation for what comes next, even now.

Becoming Part 2, The Gift, and Chosen. But if I can only choose one, it would be The Gift.
 
S2's finale for sure has the most emotional impact on me, even more than S5's. With The Gift, Buffy sacrifices her own life and goes to heaven (and we all know where the story goes from there). However, in Becoming Part 2, Buffy makes a sacrifice that she has to live with and that gives me goose bumps every time.

Yes! A crucial difference
For BtVS it's a tough call between Becoming & The Gift.

The argument for Becoming is, as SnoopDoug said above, that Buffy made a huge sacrifice she had to live with the pain of.

I just finished season 5 (again) last night so The Gift is fresh in my mind. I have to say that prior to her 'gift' I found her willingness to let the hell dimensions have their wicked way with the world rather than sacrifice Dawn, frankly, infuriating. (Does that make me a bad sister?) But as she runs to her death I can't help but feel a lot of love for her and her strength, even if exhaustion had to have something to do with it too. She was clearly being worn down by everything that had been thrown her way. I believe her depression began at the end of season 5, not the beginning of season 6. Still, she gave her life for the world. That's huge.
Actually, I still wish she'd let Dawn jump instead 😉

With Angel it would definitely be Not Fade Away. Wow. What a finale! It was epic & brutal & emotional & I cry every time.
 
All the finales give me a strong sense of emotions. I can get emotion watching Graduation when I know I'm having a Buffy-only marathon and I have to say goodbye to Cordelia.
 
Chosen. Buffy finally gets what she is looking for - the prospect of having enough people to handle slaying that she can begin to live a more normal life. The slight smile after she is asked what they are going to do at the end of the series is everything. Besides, it is the end of the best show on TV.

Becoming. Buffy has to send Angel to hell for something Angelus did, gets expelled and has to leave home.

The Gift. Buffy sacrifices herself to save Dawn.
 
Becoming part 2- gets me every single time, without fail. The prospect of having to kill your partner to save the world is a crazy notion. I don't think I would ever be able to do that. Buffy's strength in that moment is amazing. Accepting her responsibility even if it ruined the world for her.
 
Becoming part 2, The Gift, and Not Fade Away. But if we're looking at the entire Whedonverse, I'd have to say that I absolutely wept during my last rewatch when I watched Dollhouse's Epitaph Two: The Return.
 
Depends on what emotion but I'd have to go with 'The Gift' for intense sadness, 'Chosen' for wonder and faith in the future and 'Not Fade Away' for the epic factor- blaze of glory style.
