Syfy has finally released a first gun-toting teaser trailer for their upcoming Wynonna Earp TV series. Welcome to the supernatural Wild Wild West! Based on the IDW Publishing comic-book series from Beau Smith and artists Joyce Chin and Pat Lee,Wynonna Earp is the first ever TV series produced by IDW Entertainment and SEVEN24 Films.

Melanie Scrofano (RoboCop, The Listener, Damien) stars as Wynonna Earp, the great granddaughter of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp. She’s a special agent (with a demon killin’ gun) in a special team within the U.S. Marshals who battle things that go bump in the night such as demons, vampires, zombies and all things supernatural.

"After years on the run and in juvenile detention, Wynonna Earp is finally coming home. The only problem is no one back home wants her to return. But when she becomes the town's only hope of eradicating mysterious demons, Wynonna must choose which side of the law she wants to fight on in order to clear the name of her legendary great grandfather Wyatt Earp once and for all."

There hasn't been a decent weirdness-horror/Wild West blended TV show...perhaps ever. (Brisco County Jr notwithstanding) Then it would've really stood out from everything else.

As it is this feels very generic. In fact wasn't there a 'Supernatural' plot-line that was this exact premise?

I agree that I would prefer if it was actually in the Old West, or in an Old West style where there were futuristic things mixed in.

Actually you can film Old West really cheaply in LA. This being SyFy they might be filming in Canada so I don't know about there.
 
With the Canadian dollar at $0.70 US, everyone could afford to film here. It's been ten years since anything was filmed in my neighbourhood when the childhood scenes of "A Home at the End of the World" were filmed at 2476 Grand Forks Road. I walk the dog past that house every Monday and Friday. There are a lot of places in Canada that look like the wild west.

Be sure you want to do that because Trump might build a wall closing off Canada as well and you might not be able to go back. Our cost of living is considerably higher than the US but every resident has provincial medical care and life is a bit more carefree here.
 
Am I the only one here who, just for a split second, thought that that was Eliza in the lead role?

This looks really interesting. Buffy with a big ol' Colt.45 Buntline Special. What's not to love?
