Who is excited to see this movie? I know I am! I've only seen the first two seasons, but i'm stoked. The X-Files is definitely my new obsession!

I can hardly wait! The X-files was one of my favorite shows way back when... in fact, I've been re-watching and am up to the end of season 6 again. Should finish just in time for the new movie! [grin]!

I really should have done that too. But I haven´t, and there´s no way I could manage to do it now. But the movie is an absolute must. I was totally into the show then it first aired. Nothing could stop me from seeing it. I cancelled all other plans so I wouldn´t miss one episode. Can´t say that the interest was the same in the end. I don´t even think I´ve seen all episodes. But I coudln´t believe it then I first heard of this new movie.

I'm thinkin' it's a MUST too. I don't understand the bigger story arc anyway, so rewatching probably wouldn't help me much, but I can't wait!

So how many movies are there of the series? I definitely remember reading the book of one movie (yup, I'm one of those nerds who reads everything instead just watching it).

This is the second one. The first is called "Fight the future".
It is a must see.

x-files was one of the first TV series that I followed.
It had some up and downs but overall a great show.

I feel bad for no having it on DVD, must change that.

Very excited. Was going to see it tonight (it opened here in Aust. today) but had a headache so i didn't want to risk not enjoying it, so we'll go tomorrow night. I hope its good.

There's one other X-Files movie that hit theaters in 1998, and was set between the 5th and 6th seasons. This one is a standalone movie that not much is known about other than it's going the be good.

I'm moderately excited. I started to watch the entire series again but got bored halfway through S4. I think that had more to do with the emotional slump I was in than the show, though. But this is apparently supposed to be a stand-alone, like one of the not-alien-monster episodes that they used to do, so I don't think you HAD to watch the entire series to get it.

As much as I love the general "something is out there" genre, for some reason I was just never able to connect with this show. I really don't know why, because what I saw of it was well written, well acted, and well presented. It just never got above my "well, nothing else is on, let's watch ..." list.

Perhaps Mulder just isn't as attractive to YOU as he is to some of us...I can't imagine why!
I've just come back from seeing it. I enjoyed it. I like what they set up for Mulder and Scully, relationship wise - I was half scared they were going to try and convice us that they hadn't seen each other for seven years but rest assured that isn't the case, it's very natural and believable. The case they go on was alright but not nearly X-File-ish or scary enough for me, but still quite interesting. it's well shot, well acted, good pace. I can't help but think if they'd gone for a story with a bit more para-normal oompf it would have been really great rather than just solid.

THANKS FOR THE REVIEW! You're the bestest!
well, if it does well box-office wise, we may see a third, mythology-related movie. Which will blow any other episode/movie out of the water, so I'm excited.

I think the bad reviews are gonna really hurt the chances of there being another one, but I'd personally love several more X-Files movies. I'm going to see this one in a couple of hours. 🙂

Reviews McSmoos....who listens to reviews? I like word of mouth reviews better. ESPECIALLY when it comes to "cult" type shows like X-Files and Buffy. Reviewers aren't prone to "get it". Or the general pubics urge to see Mulder and Scully again even if they were just playing croquet for 2 hours.

OK, I just got back from seeing the movie.

The storyline was a bit odd, even for The X-Files...well, I guess it was just *not* what I was expecting from an X-Files movie, personally, I thought it seemed better suited for an episode, but that's not to say the movie was bad. Not at all, I quite enjoyed it, but if there's not a third movie it will be a disappointment that this was the last time we saw Mulder and Scully.

Gillian Anderson and Amanda Peet were really good in their roles, they were definitely my favorite performers in this.

Overall, very solid movie, although I wish they had gone with a scarier story. It made me nostalgic for the show, and I think I'm going to have a marathon later. 🙂

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed this does well enough soon enough for 20th Century Fox to greenlight another one in the next couple of months.

I thought it was really good!
I wish Mulder was more sarcastic than he was, but I was tickled pink just to see them again. It was like a reunion. That makes me happy.

Simple. This is the film you should have went to see and not Dark Knight. Clever dialogue, themes covered are dark and testing of your own beliefs, Mulder with a scratchy beard and the weirdness of George W Bush. I expected to be disappointed by this, how could it live up to the series... but it does. The director did a superb job, the crucifix on the wall just before you see Dana Scully for the first time really tells you what is going on for her, as we fans know from the television show. Mulder is as dry as ever and you can feel that relationship from them, great chemistry as always. The two new agents do not get in the way, or distract from Mulder and Scully. I would rather have seen Agent Doggett and Agent Reyes but the movie had to have something new for those who haven't watched the show (who are you and why haven't you watched it??!!) How this will fair over time, I dont know yet but I've been watching X -Files since the beginning and I love it all.
